I always knew making games wasn't sugar and rainbows. But seeing successful works being released will always capture more people into wanting to wanting to join the industry. But seriously this vid was amazing!!

I always think something is fun as long as you get to do what you want. When someone tells you what they want, it just kind of losses it's luster :(

 

Yea, true. But that's why I'm kinda taking a step back. I would like to be a writer if I can. But If not, teaching doesn't seem so bad to me.

 

With the exception of games based upon the Powerpuff Girls.

 

I like this ^^, even though I wish to work with games, Im more realistic. Also, this vid goes for most other jobs as well.
During Crunch it seems tiring, but seeing something go from

01 to

is plaun amazing.

 

I'm actually going to college for story writing for video games and movies. Mostly for video games but it's nice to have a backup.

 

You can't really become a story writer for video games
You can become a script writer
or a novelist, screenwriter, freelance journalist
But there's no real "Video game story creator" job. You just have to hope that a company hires you to write for their game.

If you want to be a writer then I suggest you follow that dream.
But just keep in mind that writing jobs aren't particularly easy to come by, let alone pay much.


If you wanna get into game design then I suggest you take Academic level math and English all throughout highschool as well as computer science. That's pretty obvious though.
And of course you can always start making a game right now with your current experience (no RPG maker), it CAN show up later in your life, and it always looks good when people know that you can at least make games.

PS: If you do start working for a company, you're not going to be Executive Producer anytime soon. You'll probably be stuck with something that comes AFTER the game such as coding patches (not MAKING patches, CODING them)
