I personally wouldn't recommend FFXII; its battle system consists of "Select enemy, hope it dies first".

I liked VI through X-2 best. VIII's battle system is a bit iffy, but it's similar enough to the other FF games' to be familiar. If you decide to play X-2, make sure to play X first or else you'll spoil the story; I also warn you it's a little on the girly side at times, but the battle system is solid.

X is really good, but it has *really* long cutscenes. VII and IX are probably the most accessible without having insane amounts of cutscenes.

As said a lot of times, they don't have any connection unless they have the same number in the title. X is definitely a good one for first time FF players. Try X-2. I think it's a pretty good game. It's was nice to bring back the job system.

Okay! So I ordered the game.

Final Fantasy X should be in the mail within the next week!

xD When I looked it up, at first I was having doubts about it, but I think I'll probably like it. I trust you guys <3
I couldn't find VII D= but when I was searching, I forgot that it was for PS1 lol... so yea. If I can find it on PS1 I will definitely get it. (Because I REALLY wanna get Dirge of Cerberus and it's a spin off VII Dx) Also, I looked at X-2 and I think I actually will get it. It looks kind of interesting.

Thanks everyone for all the help! I got on today and I saw how many replies there were and I was like o__o..... lol

    Thanks again!

    Disappointed

Okay, so I got FFX in the mail yesterday....

....I'm really, very disappointed with this game. I started playing and I was like, wtf is up with this battle system? and I thought it'd get better but I mean... I'm just disappointed. I don't like the battle system at all. The graphics are terrible, but I can live with that. I could've gone the whole game with the graphics. It's the battle system that kills me.

I'm sorry I didn't like the game, Thank you all so, so much for helping though, I'll make sure this is the first place I go whenever I need video game advice =D
    Thanks again!

FFX-2 is okay, just the only thing is you play as chicks only. I like the gameplay alot, but if you don't like chick playable characters only, "it's a pretty annoying game" (quoted by my jerk friend).

Well, yeah, but you can never play girls on these games. FFX-2 and Lara croft are the only games i've ever been able to play girls on. everyone else is a guy

In my opinion, you should try FF 10, FF 12, Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core. Maybe FF 10-2 and FF 11 online.

Final Fantasy VIII. You can play as Squall Leonhart, Rinoa Heartilly (Girl), Quistis Trepe (Girl), Zell Dincht, Selphie Tilmitt (Girl), and Irvine Kinneas, Playable supporting characters include Laguna Loire, Kiros Seagill and Ward Zabac, who appear in "flashback" sequences; and antagonists Seifer Almasy and Edea Kramer.

In order to play these characters, I think you need to get farther in the game. I own this one, but I'm only a level 5 or something like that. But I scanned my search engines and that's a list of playable characters. Hope I helped some.

Well I know someone probably already said this, but none of them are connected in story at all, except FFX-2 and Dirge of Cerberus.
I would recomend Final Fantasy 10. 7 is the best, but it's about $100, somewhat because of Gamestop game shredding. Also, 12 is pretty good, it's a different experience, and has a very different combat system, but I liked it.

If you get any FF game get FFIX, it has the best story IMO, I love it and so should you, it's the law.

Start at the first Final Fantasy lol! No, kidding... My first Final Fantasy was Final Fantasy X. It was a good start and I should recommend it to you. Then, you should follow it up with Final Fantasy X-2(many say it's bugger, but it isn't). Those are the two Final Fantasy games you should begin with.

From there, it might be a good idea to start looking for Final Fantasy VII, though that might not be easy as the game is pretty old, and awfully popular(and I can imagine that). If you grab hold of Final Fantasy VII, you get to witness the greatest storyline of the whole series, the best cast, and also some fun mini-games.

I don't think there still are many samples, but you should also look for Final Fantasy IX. This is because it's brilliant graphics, good character design, awesome music and great quotes/script.

In my opinion, you shouldn't buy Final Fantasy XII and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. The reason is (especially with DoC:FF VII), they both have a really weird combat system, though the story is great.

But hey, that's all just my opinion! You should start wherever you want to:)!
