    ...it's not even that long.

    Unless you're joking.

    It's not that long.

tl;dr version: Demi lacks the talent it takes to put emotion into the song.

Much better. Isn't it nice just typing so little while still making your point? XD

No? His post was long enough to give a clear, concise explanation of his opinion. I'd much rather have that than "THE COVER IS SHIT BECAUSE YEAH"

    Yes. Thank you so much.

I'm so used to getting crap for explaining my opinion. Saw Lone Survivor with my family, and were turned off when I began discussing that I really liked how the transition into the third act was the most powerful thing in the movie. They just cared for the action.

Would you kill me if I said I don't know what Lone Survivor is? But oh well, I know what you were saying, I just didn't feel like reading your post, because I knew where you were coming from. But I don't go deeply into music, since for me it's just a way to make the day less boring and silent. So yes, emotion is nice, but if there's less of it, it's not the end of the world, or makes it worse either. Although that's all opinionated.

Also, don't forget that one kinda needed emotion since otherwise we would have had a song in the movie without any way to relate to the person. Lovato's version is just a song to be nice to listen to. It's not really meant to be emotional. It's like comparing Where Are You, Christmas in the live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas with the in-movie version and Faith Hill's version

Not really. I didn't even know about it until last week, and I'm someone who frequents IMDb for all movie news. Definitely something that came out of nowhere and was a surprise for being better than it had any right of being.

And I understand where you come from in music. Some people want just a good beat to listen to. My siblings will listen to something and have no idea what the words mean, even when they're sing it out loud.

If you couldn't tell before, I'm pretty analytic. Art is also something I'm critical of because I feel it has to come from somewhere inside the person. Art is one of the best ways of describing emotion, as well as other things, so just about everything I listen to has a lot of passion put into it. It's why I really love rock music and musicals. Lyrics matter to me, and I want more from a singer's voice than hitting the right notes.

I understand that I go further than most people do.

Trust me, I know exactly where you come from, and doing something with emotion is better than just doing something because it's there. It's like if you were to relate a person's AMV. Look at one that they just did because they could and another they tried really hard on because they wanted it to be great and relay something. It's the same with any kind of art form. I just don't get too analytical because otherwise I'll never enjoy something that's there to be enjoyed. It's like if you were to get a food critic and you just reviewed and reviewed and blah, blah, blah about someone's food instead of trying to enjoy it. Kinda makes things a little less fun, doesn't it?

I understand that sentiment. I always have my mind on whenever I experience anything. I actually have fun when I analyze things. I know it sounds weird, but when I watch some movie, if I haven't seen it before, I like guessing what's going to happen due to what it's told me and how each scene fits into The Hero's Journey. Watching something again, I get to figure out what the movie is trying to say (some I can figure out on the first watch). It's like a challenge for me, and it's fun. I'm someone who will like something and I want to know why. Another example is I saw 47 Ronin, and I really enjoyed the movie, knowing it's one of the worst reviewed films of 2013. It was fun for me watching it, figuring out why I liked it so much, as well as why other people didn't.

There have been times where it does get in the way though, and makes things less fun. Pacific Rim didn't give me a challenge. Everything about it said that there was little effort, and that lead to me having no real fun (and I get no enjoyment of two giant things taking turns punching each other). Another is the new Hobbit movie. All that time, I couldn't help but think of the book and feel that there was no sign of the book's meaning in there at all. Even looking at it as a film itself, it felt very dull because it was padded, and overall felt uninspired.

I don't look down on people for looking at things differently though. I know that I like stuff everyone else thinks is bad. Everyone has different tastes. To bring it around, Frozen; I like that movie for different reasons than most people will say.

TRUTH RIGHT HERE but guys uh I think the "do you want to build a snowman" (idk if that is the actual title) song was the best in the movie

Like I'd heard the Demi version of Let it Go and didn't particularly like it before I saw the film. I liked the in-film version more and the scene was really good, but aw man the scenes when they were kids...

Do You Want to Build a Snowman, followed by Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People and For the First Time in Forever (both times it was sung) are what made this film's soundtrack great.

Agreed!! Let It Go was really great but I just felt it was underdone, like most of Elsa's story in the movie. I had really high expectations so that might be part of my disappointment, but I wish we saw & felt more of Elsa's isolation & internal struggle.

But then, this is a Disney movie, and the angst tag exists on AO3 for a reason.

I think, even though Frozen is easily my favorite movie of 2013, it could have REALLY used a better last vocalized song than....Fixer Upper. Like....just something with Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff near the climax would have been perfect.

they could probably just keep re-releasing Pocahontas for the next 20 years and I'd keep seeing it every time

There's always hope for a great finale song since the stage musical is green lit.

I don't like Demi Lovato's rendition but the song itself and the movie were both incredible. Also I cried. A lot
