Personally I found it very boring. I finished the game to completion and found myself not really caring at all and I felt no satisfaction from the story. Doesn't help it lacks the fun of the last games and took away the color of them as well. Seriously, it was about as colorful as the entirety of gray color spectrum. And the fun aspect is major problem, it is a very bleak GTA game and it induced extreme apathy for me in the story, of course I won't get too deep into that at the moment. What also doesn't help that the supposed "your choices affect the story" selling point is full of lies. Everything you do does nothing to the plot. There is only one choice that effects anything, and all that does is cause one of two people to die at Roman's Wedding. Woohoo... Gameplay was also underwhelming and at time rather headache inducing (at least for me).

Then I played Saints Row 2, one of my favorite games of all time, and I had something that GTA4 failed to offer me: fun.

    But that's me personally.

Well I retract my previous statement on the lack of male genitalia in GTA V.

The choices were only good in helping you explore different parts of Niko's character, which really shouldn't be part of a linear plot game. It was an experiment by Rockstar, to see if it could work, and in some ways it did, in many ways it didn't.
The colour filter was primarily to set the tone of GTAIV a more 'realistic' and sombre tone. Still if you think about it, the colourful Brucie and Roman are suppose to counter the grey environment. At least they took it out for Gay Tony DLC.
Gameplay was basically cover shooter, and one which I thought was done pretty well actually.

But I think we just like to see different things.

I find it funny that a couple of Scotsman can write an epic tale of American culture and capitalist society better than any American has.
But you're right, I seem to be the sort of individaul who likes to look deeper into gaming narratives than most, shame I never have anyone to discuss them with.
