One of those fake antivirus things. >: Now I'm unable to use Internet Explorer because it screwed it up, but I managed to force it to allow other programs to run by ending the tray process.

Fortunately whoever made it was really stupid and thought that I would only have one browser on my computer. Firefox still works perfectly.

So I'm running antivirus software to get rid of all this stuff right now, but I have nothing to do while it scans; it's running too slow to play a game or something. Entertain me while I attempt to rescue my computer, khv? D8

I fail to see the problem here.

The problem is that I have half a million addons in Firefox so it runs really slowly, therefore I tend to use Internet Explorer xD.

But hey, I'm not complaining, it's because of Firefox that I'm able to even get online at all right now.

The idea behind Firefox is that you can run it with a million addons, but you can choose not to as well.

I recommend choosing not to. Run with barebones no-script and adblock. Perhaps Personas if you really want something pretty. That's all you really need.

Okay well, I'll remove most of mine after this virus fiasco is over then. I think I've got like... 44 addons right now xD.

The main thing that irritates me is the YouTube optimizer addon, it slows YouTube down so much I can barely use it.

Fiddle with Firefox settings now. You've got nothing better to do.

    Also, deactivate anything that:
    1. Irritates you.
    2. You don't know the function of.
    3. You haven't used in the last two months.

    Suddenly everything will speed up.

Well I did, and it's... definitely running faster to say the least xD.

My antivirus finished while I was doing that, so I've gotta reboot my computer now.

It found a total of 140 things it didn't like. @__@

EDIT: Jeez, when I rebooted the virus was still there and wouldn't let me run anything. I'm in safe mode right now. Guess there's more I've gotta do.

I downloaded malwarebytes so I'm going to install and scan with that, hopefully it'll get rid of it.

    What did you DO?!

This is why Internet Explorer is a really bad idea.

Actually, I visited animesuki when this all started B|.

I was on the homepage when Java came up and I'm guessing that's when the Antivirus Action virus made its way onto my computer. I just researched it and it looks like it popped up early October, so it's really recent @__@.

I tried running some anti-malware software but it didn't do anything to help, so I ended up having to do a system restore. The computer itself is acting like it's having a coronary (running slowly, fan going nuts etc.) but the virus appears to be gone.

All of the addons I just removed in Firefox are back though xD.

Fix it. Now. Then remove the Internet Explorer shortcut. Then play the translated portion of Requiem of the Golden Witch.

    YES SIR

Although I actually don't have Requiem on my computer yet, I'll get right on that after school.

The exact same thing happened to me and malewarebytes couldn' t help too. I ended up finding one which did the trick : SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition.

My brother had a similar problem with his computer a while back. The fake antivirus changed his internet settings to a proxy that said everywebsite was infected. And it blocked almost every program saying that they were infected as well. That thing was a ***** to get off of the machine.
