I don't understand why people give the garbage Pokémon so much crap. Gen 1 gave us Pokémon based on air pollution and water pollution, but a Pokémon that is land pollution? Lol, dat so stooped, genwun best Pokeymans!

Yeah, Geodude is at the threshold of worst and okay Pokémon designs.

I'm partial to gen 3 designs. That was the generation I was introduced to Pokemon through. That and gen 4. Gen 4 was happening during some fond times for me (2007-2008) so naturally I remember those fondly as well.

Aside from a select few gen 1 is pretty ugly imo. I can't say much for gen 2 because it's the one I know the least. Gen 5 is alright. Nothing spectacular but I don't think I would call any of them 'the worst'. Actually gen 6 is the one I know least about. I only know the cover ones and the ones I've seen on here.

 

Indeed. There are ugly Pokemon in every region, but I also love almost all the Pokemon in every region as well. Just those select few that piss me off for no apparent reason from each region.

Jynx, Stantler, Nosepass, Bidoof, Pan-sage/pour/sear, and now Furfrou are some examples.​

I think he was saying that because he thinks ARTICUNO has a good design, whereas I said all Gen I Pokemon sucked.

There's at least 4 Articuno in game canon, same for all the other Legendaries. Mewtwo would be the exception.

I also didn't count RBYG or GSC in this because FRLG and HGSS are remakes, being essentially the same game with added stuff, so yeah.

The point was that it looked like one. Authorial intent is worth jack in the modern world because he's dead anyway.

 

Maybe it wasn't intentionally, but the fact is that Jynx used to have black skin, and was turned purple.

Supposed to be purple or supposed to be black? To the latter, yes, because there is a near-perfect basis in Japanese myth that I can't pronounce but just search 'Game Theory Jynx' and it'll come up. To the former: Nah, but Jynx appeared an off-black purple as early as Stadium, so it's not like they'd never done it before; and in the end, if people really were hurt by it and thus enjoyed the games less, that probably mattered more to Game Freak than maintaining accuracy in their little homage.

Plus Gengar was black in G/S so I'm starting to suspect they just moved away from stark black colors as they went on because... well... that's a sensible thing to do colors-wise
