so... i can't divide...

could anybody help show me how to solve this?
i am more clueless on this than what i was doing yesterday...

 

Easy.
-(21a^3-14a)/7=-7(3a^3-2a)/7=2a-3a^3

 

um... where the hell did you get the -7 at the beginning or positive 7 at the end?

 

he factored out -7 from the original equation.
/7=divided by seven, so it was there from the beginning.
then he canceled out 7 out of -7, and was left with -1. then he distributed -1 into the equation.

You need to divide the co-efficients. The variables with powers stay as they are.

21/-7 = 3 (plus a^3) = 3a^3

- 14/-7 = 2 (opposites cancel, add variables) = 2a

lol it still tells me an easy way to do the problem. i wanted to do it that way, but i wasnt sure it'd work...
