Haven't see much said about it, but yeah, next gen games are $69.99 now, and current gen are $64.99
Pretty obnoxious really, because our dollar isn't THAT weak.
Lots of smaller stores and digital retailers are keeping the regular prices though, so for now it's okay, I guess?
inb4 an Australian brags about having higher prices

Hope that won't affect Video Games Awesome, a Canadian show who plays all the recent games too much...

But yeah, it's a bummer, I already don't buy the new games 99% of the time because of the hideous prices in the U.S., I can't imagine what it's like in Canada.

There are a surprisingly huge number of big internet gamers from Canada, but luckily for them they mostly probably get free copies

I think Video Games Awesome is still kinda too small for that...

Yeah, they probably get free copies of the Indie's and small time ones, especially ones where they have someone who was part of making the game with them. But the big hitters like from the major companies they have to pay on their own unless it's free on PSN.

This thread title sounds like the start of a bad joke, this content confirmed it.

It saddened me to see Assassin's Creed IV, when it came out, as being priced at £49.99. Like... why ;-; I wasn't interested in buying it but it was just the concept.

Yeah, British next gen games got an extra £10 put on the price.

So where most game retailers would sell at £39.99 on previous gens they now sell at £49.99.
Which is a bit of a piss take when the US dollar hasn't incurred any of that.

Honestly, don't know if the euro has been hit as well. Probably.

Not really no. A lot of prices drastically went up or down (mostly up) the moment we dropped our national currency for the euro, but video games prices have remained stable for as far as I can remember.

So 60 euros for a console game and 40 euros for a handheld game. Snes/GB games were actually a tad pricier, not to mention NeoGeo games lol.

Sure, some overhyped games occasionally flaunt a 70 euros price tag, but I' ve also seen underhyped games whose price was cut by ten euros (for instance I bought The Four Heroes Of Light for 30 bucks). It seems to be a case by case hype-related scenario rather than a global trend.
