Wait ... do you actually play the game in French, or is it just one of those one liners establishing the character as weird/gay/both ?
I am actually playing the game in French because I want to develop my French skills with these little things. Also, it would be a new experience for my English-Canadian self as a person who hopes to one day be at least semi-bilingual because I have only played the Pokemon games in English in my childhood. I can read French well enough to be able to get through the text at a fine rate though I still need to stop from time to time to look up a few words or phrases, so it will take a bit longer for me. That being said, the game does start off with the Professor adding in some random French phrases. Très bien!
It' s the other way around, work can now be fun. I' m sure knowing Rondoudou is French for Jigglypuff will take him places. XD
I can just look it up on my phone's translation app. And I can also take a guess at what some words mean, like poetique (still don't know how you type that strange E letter)
