I don't see why people get so iffy about the pronunciation of letters, and different spellings of the English language. I am a Brit, brought up with the English way of speaking, I don't think "Boy, that's weird how I pronounce X differently from Americans." It's a language, a flawed one at that, that can't even keep it's own grammatical rules, po-tae-toe, po-ta-toe.

I'm Irish yet I say "Zee" and other words the American way.
I don't even know why, I just always have.

This thread is now about words and their pronunciation.

I agree, the development of accents and how someone actually picks one up and at what age interests me. I moved to near Birmingham when I was 3 but never picked up the accent, I retained my southern posh voice. Of course, accents don't always mean different pronunciations but whatever :3

Also, "sidewalk" and "pavement"... there are some differences between our languages that I don't understand.

We say "doubleyew" for the letter. In words, we say it like in "wind." Sometimes we emphasize an H that isn't there right before the W, usually when there is and H right after the W.

As for my post, I was trying to make a reference to Welsh, where W is a vowel.

    Aiyaaa...

The English language is the great-great-great-great-great-grandchild of Germanic and Latin. Rules from both of these ancient languages naturally mix together and confuse things for modern speakers such as us. America was not only made up of British settlers, but also French, Spanish, and Dutch settlers way back when. Different regions of America have different dialects because of those different languages further mixing in the pool of American English. This notion stays true as even more immigrants from a bigger span of countries settle and crowd in one region of space in this country. Thus, we aren't "butchering" the English language, we are merely making a new language that borrows from all these different languages and cultures. It is "alive" because we are constantly growing, considering the fact that technically our language is one of the youngest in the world. Aaaaand that was my two cents.

On topic, I'm still wondering why I'm here on this site since a certain sequel of a certain game hasn't been in production yet, even though certain hints and certain spin-offs point toward that direction.

It's true, there is no escape...
I've tried countless times over the past 6 and a half years and yet I still end up back here.
An additional curse is that when you try to escape so often no one seems to remember you. =D

It's pretty easy for me to remember/recognize you, seeing as you've been using the same set since like '08 or before.

Last time when I tried to change it, back while I was still active, a couple people freaked. XD
Decided to to keep it the same...forever.

I prefer it that way. It feels like there is at least something constant. Something that isn't getting shittier and more foreign every day.
