So I'm going out to finally get a smartphone tomorrow (or I guess at 2 AM that would be later today) since Verizon is changing their data plan contracts on Thursday. So what phones do people have? How do you like it? What features should be pursued or avoided?
My dad has the Samsung Galaxy II (I think that's the name, it's the newest samsung smartphone) and it's very nice, so I'd recommend it, but it's really expensive if I remember it right because it has the dualcore processor. However, I guess it depends on what you want, I've had experience with Samsung, HTC and the iPhone (I haven't owned them, but I've used them). If you want something easy to play music on, go for the iPhone, as it's an Apple product. If you're looking for sleek design, I'd go for HTC, if you want the dualcore and a BIG screen, go for the Samsung. It all depends on what you're going to use the phone for.
As I said in a thread that P made a while ago. The phone I have and recommend is the HTC Desire (anything from the desire family since there are now newer models of it too) It was the leading phone on the market for a long time, I'm not sure what is now or whether there is a newer Desire that is the top phone. But yeah. You can do most anything on it, and anything you can't do. (For example, I could set a song as a text tone or alarm tone) you can make possible by downloading an free app from the market anyway. As an example to my examples. Shuffletone2.0 allowed me to set a text tone (Well... it actually allows you to do both Ring Tones and Text Tones, but it gets better, you can choose multiple songs etc, and it will shuffle between them everytime you get a call or a text//you can choose them seperately, or even just have one for each. Personally it's my favourite app) Alarm Clock Plus is another good app to download. It turns your phone into a fade clock and you can choose any song to wake up too or remind you of something, as well as having multiple alarms that repeat on certain days etc. Anyway, yeah. I highly recommend anything from the HTC Desire family. (Y)
Valid point. I was trying to be pretty vauge so that this might be useful for others, but it isn't that helpful to me then. I don't really want to go with an iPhone. I'm somewhat anti-apple because they charge quite a bit just because it is an apple. I still recommend them to some people since their products are user friendly and rather hard to break tech-wise. But those factors aren't big for me. That being said, if I'm not getting an iPhone, then I would like to have something using android for the sake of having the appstore. However from there I don't really know. My current phone is an LG flip phone that my family got in a buy one get four free deal. Suffice it to say that I'm new to the smartphone market. I've read that phones with a lot of bloatware and/or a 4G connection eat up the battery hard core, and I want a phone that can make it through the day. I'm not sure where Samsung's dualcore fits in with that so I'll need to read up on that.
I'm much the same in regard to Apple, it was my reason for not getting the Iphone... Again, I'll suggest the HTC Desire, which is 'android' which is another thing you said you wanted. I've never regretted choosing it as my phone and I've had it for a year. (gotta wait for another year before I can upgrade, but when I can, I plan on getting the newest version of my phone anyway.) But yeah lol.
As far as battery on the samsung, the battery starts weak, but actually improves a bit over time. However, if you're not going with the iPhone (Im not an apple fan myself either) I'd definitely go for an HTC. Go with the newest one though, Desire something, right? All smartphones have limited battery though, but from what I understand HTC has a good battery.
This. Pretty much what I was saying, but yes. Also, HTC does have a decent battery. It depends how much you use it at once of course. But a charge a night is just to play it safe, but you can get away with charging it one every few days. XD
I was very close to getting the HTC because of the comments here, but ultimately landed on the Xperia Play. First impression is good but I'm still in the OMG smartphone stage, so I'll review it in a couple of days
