Lately I have not been able to fall asleep. I'm tired, but I just lie in bed and stare at the ceiling for like, 45 minutes-1 hour. I used to be able to fall asleep in 5 minutes, but that was a long time ago, before some bad things started happening in my life. So now my mind races at night and I can't settle down and sleep for a long time. Does anybody have any tips on how I can sleep better?

Oh, and I also wake up in the middle of the night a few times each night. Anyone know any ways to stop that too? I'd be very greatful for some help here from all you nice folks on KH-vids.net =).

I ususally listen to music while I go to sleep. Works like a charm. Sort of, calms me enough to fall asleep. I don't know how to explain it, but it helps.

Insomnia is sometimes caused by emotional stress. Have you been having problems in that area?

I actually do listen to music when I sleep, and it still doesn't help too much.

Not lately...my life has been pleasant the past few weeks and non-emotional. That's what I was thinking too, but that's not it.

I used to have the same problem. I pretty much just got over it after a while... >.>

But something that really helps when I can't sleep is listening to the sound of the rainforet or a waterfall... I usually just let a 10 minute video from youtube play and I fall asleep before it's over... XD

Or, it may not be a good idea depending on certain things, but sleep medicine can help... Alot of people have problems sleeping in the same way and some sleep medicine helps them get to sleep. However, with most of them, you have to sleep for 8 hours at least, and you may be somewhat drowsy the next day... These are the only suggestions I can think of. Really, I strongly suggest the first one. :/

You should try winding down your day before you get to sleep in order to create a more relaxed mood for sleep. Take a hot shower, make some tea, read a little bit, and then try going to sleep. I works for me anyway.

Try reading before bed, it really calms me down if I'm stressed.
Also if you're doing something that is mentally challenging before bed e.g playing on the computer its really hard to fall asleep.
But if it's coz of emotional troubles, causing you to have insomnia, it sounds weird but put a few drops of lavender on your pillow before you go to bed.
Seriously, it actually works. It sends most people off straight away <3

Yeah, I'd rather do the first one xD.

Lavender? I'd probably start sneezing xD. And I try not to be on the computer right before bed, because I mnow it does keep me awake.

    1. Hot showers wake me up
    2. I don't like tea.
    3. Reading sometimes wakes me up because I can't put down the book.

    ...yeah.

Okay, instead of showers have a hot bath instead.

Read before you go to bed. Don't watch tv or go on the computer an hour before bed. That usually helps me.

    I'd probaly still sneeze xD.
And I don't really like bathes too much, probably because my bathtub is gross-ish.

As I said before, reading wakes me up a lot of the time =/.

Okay, think of this from a different angle.

    Just don't sleep.
I do it when I can't sleep. Stay up instead. Act like it's day. Sometimes trying to sleep is the worse thing to do. You'll fall asleep naturally when you're tired enough :3

The night time world is awesome too ;D

Usually when you are cold, you sleep better. It sounds weird, I know, but it contracts your blood vessels and makes you sluggish, thus helping you sleep. Scientifically proven, thats why I sleep on my bed with no covers.

Ahhh, but then I'd be falling asleep in school, which I cannot allow to happen.

Really? I would have thought that the warmer you are, the more relaxed you are the easier you sleep. If I'm really cold, my feet and legs begin to cramp and then I'm in too much pain to sleep Dx.

Ambien may also be an option. Sometimes medication helps and Ambien is non-habit forming.
