Yes.

 

There is no Skype etiquette. You can't message people who haven't expressly added you or are in group chats with you.

Well, you send a contact request, and if they accept you can share contact details and chat and things. There will be a list of all the people you have in your contacts. Some of them will have green symbols next to them and that means they're available to chat. Red symbols mean Do not disturb. Yellow is away from computer. And white means offline. Sometimes though, they'll always have a certain colour. A friend of mine always has red on but she's always available to talk.

 

Is it wrong that I don't have a Skype?

 

I have a skype but I only ever talk to one or two people. Sometimes I get dragged into calls but I am nervous around new people.
