well that was painful to sit through, but I did it

I have no idea why it would be. It's hysterical. Better than misanthropic behavior from Yahtzee where they're actually genuine. But eh, to each their own.

 

honestly it was more the way he delivered the lines that bugged me, something about his voice annoyed me

I said I hate when people just thrive a career on their own angst and get famous for it- especially when their angst towards everything is genuine.

The misanthropic behavior here was more just them making fun of themselves and the game.

I can understand his voice bugging you- it's supposed to, but it can be offputting. They're just trying to sound stupid.

Wait, you think Yahtzee's being genuine in Zero Punctuation?

I figured it was supposed to, but these sorts of things are INSANE balancing acts. If you're not careful it starts sounding like you're using the voice to scapegoat criticize actual informed opinions, rather than the reverse. That's what ultimately happened with me, they didn't do enough for me to give them the benefit of the doubt

hence the DLC?

 

No, I think he's being comical. However, if you read his more "serious" stuff it's pretty clear he's still a typical cynic. I think he's trying to entertain through his own angst.

And yeah, I agree. I can see that as an issue. I just find their sense of humor funny. It's kinda like P4R in the sense that it's ridiculous and you should never use it to form any sort of opinion, but it's just there to poke fun.

 

You do know they hired Zone because they like his porn, right?

I'm pretty sure in one of his serious works (wouldn't exactly call them serious since he's still making a bunch of jokes) he used the quote "At the heart of every cynic is a disappointed optimist"

To be fair, pretty much every artist has to make furry porn at some point to make ends meet, judging a person for being hired for their porn drawing is a bit redundant
