I've been listening to Skillet again, and I just noticed by listening to the beginning of the songs; basically each song has the same sort of intro. I mean, it's a little different in each song, but it basically follows the same theme and all. It kinda reminds me of Cascada songs.

    Anyone else notice this?

It doesn't apply to just Skillet. If you pay attention to any band you'll realize that most of the time you can hear the same stuff over and over again. My favorite example is Metallica. They could probably sue themselves for plagiarism and win. Though that's mostly because they use the exact same scale for nearly every single song. Anyways, it's usually just passed off as being a band's distinctive sound.

    This.
It's often how your recognize them. When you hear a certain style in the intro, certain type of distortion on the guitar etc, you recognize it, making it their "sound"

As Machina says, yeah each band has their own distinct sounds. RED does, Breaking Benjamin does, they just have a favorite kind of tone to their songs. Playing the piano and such, I like more songs than others because of their tone and I tend to catch myself playing more of A Major songs and G major songs than other ones.

It's what ever tone they like to play.

Going off with the other member's responses, I do think every band oft' has their own feel about them in regards to their sound. These people that make up the group tend to follow their style and as a whole, generally will retain the same aura in their work.

but when I listen to Linkin Park I don't really hear anything that's the same for them. I can't find any two songs that remind me of each other, unlike in Cascada where Everytime We Touch and Can't Stop The Rain sounds really similar

Well that is true, I imagine certain bands make certain songs very distinct from other songs they made. Could be a form of broadening their skill and or bringing in fans...

I never really noticed it with Skillet, but Owl City does a lot of the same tunes in his songs. Like, the melody for "Hello Seattle" is very simalar to the verses of "Galaxies" and the first half of the verses of "Cave In". It's just interesting to hear stuff like that.
