Site News Site Now On New Server

I'm not noticing any lag or anything, but loading was definately faster than I remember. Thank you!

 

I know, right? It almost feels as if this isn't the KH-Vids forum, doesn't it?

The loading speed is now as fast as the loading speed of the SEGA and Final Fantasy Shrine forums.

 

I'll ask the server guy about the slowness in the rp forum.

You will also likely see DNS issues when the nameservers swtich

 

Probably somewhat of a dumb question, but what's a nameserver and what's this switch that's going to happen?

It's like we're in the in-between, the server change and ownership will be complete when the namechages happens.

 

I believe the RP section running slowly was a different problem entirely, possibly a part of the coding or something got messed up accidentally. I still sometimes get a code error when entering. Then again, it could have been something with the old server and might not have hopped over properly lol.

 

I'm pretty certain that it's due to the mass-moving we did when we rearranged the sections. Now that we're on a server than can handle it, there is a process that I believe will fix it. =]

Anyway, this is awesome news. =]

For those stuck on the old server, though, we tried this when Chev was and it works. If anyone knows someone who is stuck, please pass this along. c:
1. Open a command prompt (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt, or put 'cmd' in the Run... box).
2. Type in the following:

ipconfig /flushdns

3. Try getting on KHV!

Fairly certain this will only work on Windows, dunno about Macs & Linux.

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Update Counters -> Rebuild Forum Information and/or Rebuild Thread Information

Not quite sure which it is, we've had the problem for a week or two now though. We never ran it because we weren't sure the old server would be able to handle it, at least not without crapping out for hours.

 

Did you run it? The RP forum seems to be working now. I also told the server guy about the problem

I haven't, no. The RP section does load fine eventually, it just has a noticeable lag as compared to other sections. Either way I'm sure your server guy would know more about it than me, that's the solution I got from the vBulletin support site.

 

I ran it after we upgraded to 4.0, it rebuilt some of the indexes... but yeah after awhile it would time out. But on this server we shouldn't have a problem running any of vb's maintenance tools.

 

Ah, so that's why I couldn't get on yesterday...
It does seem noticably better, though. It no longer takes three minutes to load up the site. ._.

 

Everything is switched over now. Let me know if you are seeing any issues. I know some people said they weren't getting email notifications...
