    Regardless, in December 2006 it was announced that the true Wii Zelda title was "almost a year into development", meaning that the majority of Aonuma's Zelda Team were clearly done with Twilight Princess at that point in time in order to be working on the next one.

    So, Twilight Princess was technically finished in early 2006, which is evident by the fact that until the Wii version was announced Twilight Princess' original release date was March 2006. If they chose to not make a Wii version, they probably would have met that date, because the game was already done by that point. So, by early 2006 the main team went to work on Twilight Princess's successor, while a slimmed down team worked on the port of the game onto Wii Hardware in time for an E3 Demo and an eventual November release
