Faust smiled sardonically as he waved a hand at the young woman's bravado. "Please leave my class and never come back. You are hereby expelled from SIGMA and no longer do you have the school's protection. Should you freelance, you will be considered a vigilante and therefore an enemy of the Bureau. Good-bye, Miss Ward." The professor went on, extending his right hand towards the door as to signify an exit for her to leave.

Karasu was the first to bolt out of his chair. "Hey, hey!" He shouted glaring at the professor, who began to grin from ear to ear. "That's not fair! She was only wanting to be in a comfortable environment, there's no need for such harsh treatment!" He shouted angrily, one foot atop his desk. Faust, however, didn't move and simply stared at Karasu for a short time.

"Obviously, you children need to learn that you're not here to be safe," he explained coolly, methodically. It was the sort of tone a scientist would use on a test subject. Mild, apathetic, analytical. "You're here to learn how to survive and how to endure all forms of discomfort. If you can't understand that, then you fail. Not only do you fail my class automatically, but you fail the classes of SIGMA as a whole." Faust's eyes widened as he took another drag of his cigarette, and his smile became devilish. Karasu glared at Faust, a small whirlwind surrounding his person. His duster fluttered like black, broken wings. The youth's pupils dilated and then contracted in a single moment, the alien shine becoming brighter and a blade of wind tore its way down the row of desks, tearing them apart (but thankfully missing those nearby) and seeking the source of his rage.

    Faust.

The professor swung his left arm lazily as the windblade drew too close, dispelling it with what seemed to be no effort. "Wind magic, spell "Windblade", level 1 of 5, calibre .22." Faust remarked absentmindedly, which was a strange quirk. "In short, the spell is medium range with the power equivalent to a small typhoon. However, since it's a single blade, three inches in thickness, with small, devastating gusts with a .25 inch circumference, it is considered a Wild Spell. Untamed. Its power measures one's emotion and the effect of said emotion it reveals a weak power-source. Power output, 90%. Potential power, 10%. Kinetic capabilities, negative 50 on AAS (Aeromantic Acceleration Scale). Result... futile." He rambled, though it was unaware if Faust was conscious enough to understand his own analysis. Faust pointed his left index finger at Karasu, who stood dumbfounded, and a single stream of wind, no thicker than a piece of string, shot forth. Karasu's eyes widened and the wind that he summoned before hand cloaked him. The beam, however, went through and hit his chest, making him fly back and through the door at the top of the steps.

"You're expelled, too," Faust murmured, and he glanced around as if to emphasize his unspoken point. "Any more nonsense?" Faust asked, smiling still. In his eyes, there danced the flames of amusement.

(OOC: Just because you're "expelled" doesn't mean you're booted from the RP. I just want everyone to know this; just in case.)

~<>~The enemy is you. Hide yourself to protect the world.~<>~

Zac was shocked. What the heck had just happened!?! He sat for a moment, dumbfounded. At first, he had had every intention of getting up and leaving with the girl, but now...
His mind reeled with confusion. What should he do? He didn't want to stay here, he had never wanted to be here in the first place. That old man was dangerous, he had just attacked a student! Staying in the class was like saying "Hey, how about I sit here in fear while you try to kill me with magic?" Anyone who would do so was crazy! But if he got up to leave, would he get attacked too? It was one thing to get expelled, getting hurt was something else entirely. Just like it was suicide to stay, it was suicide to try and escape.

But two students had already been expelled. How many more were going to get thrown out after this incident? He didn't want to be the only student remaining. He had to leave, he just had to.
But the proffessor had said something about them being here to learn to survive all sorts of discomfort, and that if they couldn't understand that, they would surely fail. Something about that sentence was oddly compelling. A bit of spirit rose in Zac. He wanted to show the old psychopath that he could survive all discomfort, that he would be strong enough to make it through the end of the class.
But he couldn't stay here. He couldn't face this man. He was a coward, as shameful as that was, he was too afraid, afraid for himself and his own safety, to stay and let this man torture him. He had to get up and leave. He couldn't risk getting hurt, and he couldn't risk magic. He couldn't risk becoming like his mother.

He was about to get up when suddenly he remembered the Proffessor's last sentence. Should you freelance, you will be considered a vigilante and therefore an enemy of the Bureau.
    Freelance. Vigilante. Enemy.
Here he was, trying to escape his mother's fate, by following in her footsteps, right into her very position. He couldn't do it. He had to stay. I can't let my life be ruled by my heritage, he thought. I can't let myself become who I am destined to be, simply because of a moment of fear.
His heart sinking, he settled down into his seat, eyes closed, head down, so he wouldn't have to see the other students desert him for their chance at the life he would never allow himself to have.
That is the best way, that is the way I have chosen. For their safety as well as mine.

••• Save the world, or die trying. •••

Rita watched, wide eyed, as the boy next to her went flying through the door. She couldn't believe what was happening here. Two students had been expelled within 5 minutes of the class, one of which may have been killed. A deep chill ran down the back of her spine as she glared at the smiling Faust, her hatred for him building up by the minute.

The idea to protest and say something in the boy's defence came into her mind, but she was quick to perish the thought. Adrenaline was blocking out her means of thinking very rationally, but common sense still won in the end. If she were to say something right now, things might not be pretty in the upcoming future. And the fact that she had just witnessed what she had just witnessed, she didn't feel like questioning the professor at all.

So there she sat, trying to keep a solemn expression on her face as to not attract any unwanted attention to herself. Her mind buzzing with worried thoughts about the boy, and the possible events that may take place in this classroom.

~ Sometimes you've just got to Close you Eyes and Leap ~

Tahlia took a deep breath, she could barely believe what was happening, she didn't know what to do. A moment ago she'd have defended the girl without a moment's hesitation but now... She knew this was wrong in so many ways. They didn't deserve to be expelled. It was silly. Who did this teacher think he was, did he even have the power to expell them? She'd of thought that expelling someone was a descision that had to be taken seriously and perhaps by the headmaster, not some old mad teacher who just got slightly annoyed. She wanted to badly to argue against it but she did not want to get expelled and more than that, she did not want to get hurt. She was not a fighter, she was a healer. And right now, she was extremely worried about the health of the boy he had just attacked. She could not let the boy die, it went against everything she believed in. She'd came here to make a difference, watch a teacher hurt and expell some innocent students in their first lesson.

She decided to make a comprimise, she knew she'd probably end up regretting this but she slowly raised her hand, "Excuse me sir, but may I have permission to go help that boy. I understand that we have to learn how to endure everything but I am a healer and I won't sit back and watch an innocent boy die. It is our first day here, everybody makes mistakes and you've made certain we won't make that one again. We're here to learn, so let us learn. May I go help him? Please." Her body was physically shaking as she said this, she just hoped she wouldn't regret her descision.

Even for the calm Drake, he could not help but widen his eyes upon witnessing the professor’s counter attack against Karasu. After the professor’s words he couldn’t say anything. This school was to train others to be strong and if somebody like this girl could not handle mere smoke then in their eyes she is nothing special or worthy. Though he was unnerved at the girl’s expulsion over such a simple request, the retaliation of Karasu was what opened his eyes.

Were all the instructors like this? Or maybe it is only this instructor who is this strict. Either way this unease told him it is time to leave. The mere reason he joined this school was to live a normal life but it seemed this school was the wrong choice. If anything he would just remain the mercenary he was before entering the school. “It’s time I leave” Drake said calmly as he silently stood up from his seat

It may be impossible to protect all the people in the world, but at least I can try.

She almost protested. Almost. Instead, she bit down on her tongue. She was incredibly nervous. Her entire body felt like jello, trembling about. She took a deep breath, glaring slightly--more out of fear than malice--and then she turned. Before she had even made it completely out of the door, a boy had stood. She felt a slither of hope engulf her, but that didn't last long. Soon the boy was flying back and out of the door. She gaped, internally struggling to decide whether she should check on him or scold the teacher first.

Deciding a dramatic storm out wouldn't be best, Alyss picked up her things and ran out of the classroom. She shook her head, trying to grasp what had just happened. It was one thing for her to be expelled, but an entirely other thing for someone to get hurt because of her. She felt flustered and confused. This shouldn't have happened!

She was still shaking when she finally made it to the boy. She fell to her knees and examined him curiously with worried eyes. "U-um," her voice was hoarse and shaky. "Are you alright?"

Faust's sardonic smile was now a Cheshire grin, his perfect white teeth gleaming with his madness. "No need," the professor told Tahlia. "It appears the boy was smart enough to deflect the otherwise severe blow. He'll be fine... though, I doubt his nerves are saying the same thing." Faust cackled as the door Karasu and Alyss exited closed and locked. However, his jovial mood was interrupted by Drake's resignation. Unfortunately, Drake would soon find himself in Faust's sights. "Sit down, Mister Drake," he said coolly, his childish tone becoming deadlier and lacking the mad mirth of his otherwise outrageous game. As he spoke, Drake would soon notice the power in his words, for magic filled the air like electricity. The hairs on Drake's arms and neck would rise on ends, and he would also feel a tingling sensation that threatened to numb his entire body. "You do not leave until I say," Faust growled, glaring at him with murder-filled eyes. "I expelled two students... they didn't want it, but they got it. You, on the other hand... if you resist me, I shall think up a more extravagant punishment for you." As he finished, everyone would notice the mirth slowly creeping back into his voice, his eyes sparkling with the same sadistic glow as they had always had.

"Am I understood?" He asked, his tone now polite and nonchalant.

    *******

Karasu groaned as he rose up. "Ugh..." he let out. "What happened?" Karasu asked, though he visibly winced as he felt the aches and pains around his chest. Karasu even felt a sharp pain coming from his heart, but he dismissed it after a couple hisses of pain. After a moment of being dazed, he finally took notice of Alyss. "Oh... yeah, I guess I'm alright. What about you?" He asked, trying to display concern rather than pain.

Tahlia shivered and sank down into her seat. She just wished she could disappear. She was glad the boy was alright but this just seemed so wrong. Two students had been expelled for no good reason. She was even willing to bet that the proffesor would carry on smoking, that would mean the girl's sacrifice was in vain. It was silly. However, it appeared too late to protest now and she daren't. After the way he'd reacted to everyone else, she just wanted to vanish. Trying to think clearer about it she wondered if he would stay this strict all year, or was this a special performance to make an impression? He'd certainly made an impression. She guessed if he broke them now, and took the rebellious spirit out of them, then noone would question him in future. If that was his plan, it appeared to be working. She just hoped the other teachers were better than that. She smiled despite everything, sat up and picked up her pen. It would take more than that to break her, though even with a renewed spirit, she wanted to stay out of the spotlight for the rest of the lesson at least.

Zac sat in his seat, completely confused and getting angry. This proffesor was insane and unreasonable. He expells two students for no reason, attacks one of those students, asks if anyone else wants to join the two in expulsion, and then acts like the third person to stand up and decide to be expelled is out of line? Why would he get so angry at the guy for accepting what he offered? It made no sense! If he didn't want to expell any more students, he shouldn't have given them the option. Plus, now he knew that the teacher couldn't be taken at his word. If he offered expulsion, then refused to grant it to the student who chose, how would anyone ever trust him? How could he learn from a teacher whom he couldn't trust? This is going to be one torturous class, he thought. I just hope the other teachers aren't this bad.

Drake eyes immediately widened upon the words of the professor. Slowly he turned his head and glanced at the professor. Narrowing his eyes, he just gazed at the professor without moving an inch. Just who is this man. What is with him Drake said as he clenched his teeth. The sheer power he felt from this man’s words were fearful and although Drake’s face did not show it he was deeply affected by the cold stare of Faust. Closing his eyes Drake sat down back in his seat. There was no leaving now

Noticing his wincing, Alyss sat back on her heels and clicked her tongue in thought. It didn't look like anything too serious, but it wasn't the injury that was eating away at her. It was what had just happened. She shook her head, tilting her head downwards and staring blankly at her knees. It was beyond frustrating. Part of her felt like she shouldn't have said anything at all about the cigarette, but if the professor was going to be a jerk the entire time, she would have rather been expelled sooner than later.

"Is there anything I can do? You shouldn't have done that. ...No, wait, I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry." The genuineness behind her voice couldn't be denied, but she still sounded distant. She wasn't exactly sure what to do with herself now.

~(*)~ If I have to get stronger to protect everyone, then so be it!~(*)~

Keel couldn't believe what had just happend. All for just a cigarette two students were just expelled. While almost every fiber in his being was telling to say something, one voice in his head had more control. If you get explelled, you'll just be proving to everyone that you can't do anything. Leaning back in his chair, he contiued to remain silent seeing as that was the only thing he could do in this situation.
