It's alright once you've gotten used to it but at first look it's bleh.
Needs loads of work.

It still looks OK and the brush effects are alright...but simplicity isn't always the best ;)

Lol, yeah. I had just gotten the brushes, threw together a background and did it. I don't even like it. xD

And I can't seem to find any tuts or anything that I like. =/

 

Why don't you get PS...doesn't it get boring with GIMP...and there arent even that many tuts.

 

XD It's pretty good, actually.

The only problem is the lighting. Reduce it. And maybe the saturation a bit as well.
