Wrong. All you get in Marijuana is the plant. The active ingredient in the drug THC actually occurs naturally in our own bodies as well, serving as a natural way to relieve pain when we're seriously hurt. Manufactured Tobacco has hundreds of added chemicals added to it for preservation and processing (here's a list of just how many things are added:http://quitsmoking.about.com/cs/nicotineinhaler/a/cigingredients.htm). In essence the tar that builds up in your lungs is more a result of the other shiet that's put in cigarettes. That being said, regardless of what it is, anything else other than natural air being inhaled into the lungs isn't good for you. Hell, even the air we breathe isn't technically good for us anymore.

As for using it irresponsibly, the same amount of risk goes for alcohol. In fact I'd say Alcohol is more dangerous than Marijuana. It's easier to overdose on, poisons the liver, and completely eclipses the number of accidents, assaults, and abuse that have potentially come from Marijuana use.

I hate it how people assume that they can just walk in and get some weed... Now all the drug addicts are jumping for joy because they assume they can get this crap by just walking in and buying it. No, it is a prescribed drug that is MEANT for medical purposes. Yes, it could bring us something useful if it usedfor medical uses only. I support this decision 100%.

Yes, it should be legalized, so many people are sent to jail each year, for what? Smoking a simple marijuana cigarette or cigar. It fills our jails therefor it makes it hard for the real crimes to be punished, like murder or any other extreme crime.

Absolutely not. Marijuana is extremely dangerous and no one should smoke it.

It makes you act like a ******. It makes you do incredibly stupid things. It may not kill you, but you can kill others while under its influence.

You mean the same thing that alcohol, pain killers, anti-depressants, sleep aids, memory stimulants...or, pretty much any prescription drug can do to you? Or even normal human states of mind such as being tired, anger brought on by high blood pressure, hyperactivity from sugar intake, or manic depressive behavior? Hell, more than a couple spoonfuls of ground nutmeg is a psychoactive drug that can shut down your liver.

i don't think this would affect me one bit because even if marijuana were legal i probably wouldn't smoke it like how cigarettes are legal but i choose not to smoke. but anyways, i don't know how harmful marijuana is but unless it's REALLY dangerous, it should be made legal. but this is my reasoning: if people are going to smoke marijuana illegally we might as well make it legal so that it can be taxed and then use that tax money for something useful. i still think the more dangerous drugs should stay illegal because i wouldn't want those drugs to be readily available at the store.

Correct. And alcohol was illegal in the United States at one point. Tobacco should be, as well.

And look where that got us. The Prohibition Era caused the uprise of the mafias which dealt in prostitution, selling alcohol, you name it. It's exactly the same as the gangs we have today, which deals with selling drugs.

True. But weed is still a dangerous psychoactive drug. Alcohol and tobacco are worse, verily, but that doesn't automatically make weed a safe drug to be used for recreation.

Legalisation would be the best thing for the government and the users (in terms of helping them). At the moment it is an underground market, meaning no regulation and no checks. Extortionate amounts of money can be charged for it because the dealers know that it is addictive.

However, if it was legalised the government could actually have a hand in the use of it. Stamping out the use of it has proved impossible (this being what caused prohibition to be reversed in America, the fact that it was impossible to enforce) and so bringing it out in the open so that it can be monitored is really the only thing that can be done.

And yes alcohol and tobacco are at least as dangerous if not more so.

The only other point I would like to make is it's production. Governments would have to set up bodies specifically tasked to regulate marijuana farms to ensure they meet health and safety standards etc. This could help those who currently work on the farms greatly.

Actually, I do believe I established earlier that it was perfectly safe for recreation.

Then why would there be all these "rumors" that indicate that it is psychoactive?

Nutmeg is psychoactive, I still bake delicious cakes with it.

"Recreation" implies responsible use and moderation, irresponsible use of most things in our everyday lives have equal, if not worse, tolls on the human body than Marijuana.

And heck, Marijuanas point of "irresponsible" use is higher than any prescription substance on the medical market to date...so high that it's unaccountable at what point Marijuana even becomes significantly damaging to the human body at all.

Marijuana pretty much has the one largest margin of error between safe and dangerous of anything you could ingest in your body.
