Should amount of rep affect post and theory trustworthiness

To be honest, i don't want no CnC for this

I think rep is basically whoring around lately. I only rep if it's a good post or just to say 'Hey' usually to someone...
i've only done like... 4 spam reps in my being here because i was bored ._.

so, IMO

i think rep is a way to whore around the site lately. Not saying who does it, ir who doesn't, but yeah.
I've gotten IM's, (Not saying who) asking for rep because i had a large amount and they had very little and they thought if i repped them, they'd get 3 bars (lmfao)

so i asked why and they thought if they had alot of rep, that they'd be cooler
one thing you need to know, is rep (IMO) makes you look like a whore.... I think it makes me look like one because i get alot of spam in mine...

but i'm not saying anyone is... it just makes them look like it, though i know they're not

and again, i don't want any responses. Just saying my opnion <333

 

If you don't want your opinions questioned and scrutinized, you shouldn't really have posted here.

Not saying I disagree with it or anything, just saying.

You didn't really "discuss" much of anything with that post. You just posted your opinion (which you're perfectly entitled to) and expected that nobody would try and refute what you said despite this being in the Debate Corner, which just baffles me, since that is, to my understanding, what this section is about in the first place.

Having a debate (or a discussion, I understand the sentiment involved in people treating the two as two different things, but by definition there is little difference) with someone does not equal you being bashed, don't treat it as an attack on your very being.

I think rep is kinda useless and mean sometimes. Just because many people trust the reputation. Yeah, it's nice when someone reps you, you feel happy, you feel loved, ok, but it's not important to make friends, everybody didn't have rep when they joined.

 

Yea, I mean I like being repped as much as the next guy but it's not that big a deal.

Speaking of which, I've been a member here for...a few months now and am still confused about Rep.
I know the basic idea of it
but how much is each rep worth?
Green adds
Gray doesn't do anything
Red takes away
but how many points are green and red worth each? Someone repped me and I got ten points, the next time i was repped I got 4... why?

 

It depends on the person who gives/removes the rep.

For example, I give 40 points when I rep whereas someone else would give only say 12. It depends on how many posts you have, how much rep you have and how long you have been a member as to how much your rep is worth.

Negative reps take are worth half of the value of a positive rep, so if someone who gives 12 rep points was to de-rep you, he would take away 6 points.

Except for admins, we take the same amount as we give, so if I or Condemned Memoir was to de-rep you we would take 40 points.
