Okay, I'll lay down the basics... I just started homeschool a few months ago, and it's an online homeschool.

Everything was okay, and I loved doing it at first, but then things started to drop slowly. My parents were kind of busy and didn't monitor me as much, so I felt more freedom to goof around. Like I would go to other websites instead of the school website and I didn't work on my school work. Last quarter kind of ended in a disaster because of my lack in motivation... My parents were super upset with me and constantly nagging on me, telling me to get A's and do a whole lot better. I don't want that to happen again...

So... I had the motivation to do better this quarter, and I was doing great. I had A's in all my classes, and I felt pretty confident in myself for once. Then I started to goof off once again... so my grades are dropping bit by bit again.

Argh, I want that motivation I had a while ago back, but I don't know what to do. I get easily distracted, but I don't think I have ADHD... And I'm basically coaching myself in homeschool because my parents are kind of busy, but I don't want to go back up to the public school....

Anybody have any helpful tips to get motivation to do hard things?

Either this or learn to multitask like a machine. I can play Runescape, type on here, and read a book for class, and have the book done over a weekend.

wish i could say the same for myself >.< but speak of the devil im supposed to be working and am on this addictive website.

but as far as id say just keep tabs on yourself as well. close other windows on your computer and remind your self how much happier you will be, getting better grades.

Yeah pretty much what they said. Block other sites or just train yourself to not get side tracked unconditionally. 100% focus on school. Then you can feel better about what ever the f*ck your doing.

Lol, thanks for the tips guys... I'll try to do that... even though it's so tempting to just click on other things. Thanks again for all the help.

Along with blocking other sites, make sure there are no distractions in your room. If you're used to goofing off and you can't get on the sites you usually do you're going to start looking for something else to distract you. Which isn't good. Good luck. :3

it seems that something important had to have given you that motivation to actually stop goofing off and get going on your schoolwork back then... i think you just nee to find that again so you can do better, and be able to balance having fun and getting those A's. :D

I'm homeschooled too, and I've had some similar issues with motivation (although that's mainly due to some things I've been dealing with in my life recently). I would say block the websites if you really can't resist them. Get rid of all possible distractions. If you have a noisy younger sibling, make them go elsewhere while you work. I don't know if this helps you or not, but for me, getting bad grades always motivates me to do better (last week on a test, I got the worst score I've ever received in my life - an 82 - and I was seriously upset about it, but it shocked me into working harder on that particular subject.) I can't really think of any other ways to make it easier, but I will say this: in the end, it doesn't matter how many or how few distractions there are. The motivation has to come from you. Please don't misunderstand this, I'm not saying you're lazy or anything, just that you have to motivate yourself and be willing to learn in order to succeed.

    Good luck! :)
