Seriously though, there is a logical operator for not that you can type. != looks so much cleaner than trying to do the slash through an equal sign and uses less ink.

Ah, that makes sense. I'll try to incorporate that more often. I'm just used to seeing the slash.

still trying to figure this out

    but yea that sounds right
well thats not always the case since cancellations and milking exist and i dont necessarily care a super bunch about art but i do like the autonomy in piecing the story together and contol over how to digest it a whole page with multiple panels gives you vs one screen that plays a series of images im forced to consume the way it wants me to, for better or worse. and just for my taste motion isnt super important and if you get art thats really good it can feel like its moving. eg akira. and audio usually doesnt matter at all for me. i know it contributes a lot to the whole piece but for story its usually superfluous.

like i cant imagine yotsubato being animated and i cant imagine how it would be in any way close to as good bc so much of what makes that good is how the panels are arranged and how the characters are placed in the panels. conversely, i was so shocked when i learned that the nichijou manga came before the anime because so much of what makes that show worthwhile is the motion. i looked at the manga and really didnt like it and have no interest in reading it. so im not 100% manga is better but i certainly enjoy reading more than watching.

I didn't mean to say that the entire medium for either manga or anime is 100% pure or 100% corrupt, just to generally say that, since manga (usually) requires a far smaller budget and time investment than anime to create, a mangaka can (usually) focus more on what story and art they want to convey. And things like art style I suppose affect me a lot more than they affect you, being the main reason I don't think I'll ever get into something like Steven Universe (though it's not the only reason.)

The Yotsubato and Nichijou comparison is actually a really good way to look at it. While I think the 1997 anime of Berserk is decent, I already know it's nowhere near as good as the manga since a LOT of attention to detail, both in the story and in the art, is lost by the anime having a smaller budget and not always conveying the appropriate mood or motion...and I won't even comment on the newly airing CG series (though I personally kinda like the music)

Anything with more than 50 episodes is automatically trash. Only exception to this is DBZ.
