serious anime question

i dont like watching long animes but some animes i want to watch are too long what should i do.

I find most 13 episode anime are only that long because they didn't do well enough to get another season. I've watched so many that don't actually END and I don't feel satisfied.

So unless you want to read the rest of the Manga to figure out how it ends, I wouldn't lol.

 

13 episode animes, even if they are completely finished in that amount of time, don't usually get off enough story to make it interesting, or they always seem to rush stuff in the end. Like with Devil May Cry, or Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero

 

Skip it if it's not called Galaxy Express or Legend of Galactic Heroes.

it depends.

took me 2 years to finish D.Gray Man and I didn't regret it. However for something like.. Bleach, OneP, Gintama and like so many more that over 100+ I don't bother. Doesn't keep my interest like the manga does.

So some 13/24 episode anime's are best. Some aren't too rushed and (to me) are worth it.

i default to reading manga
i frequently undertake 500+ chapter readthrough plans but working up the motivation to watch even a movie is dang near impossible because anime is stupid. tho manga for leiji stuff and lupin doesnt exist online apparently

 

Just break it up into chunks and watch those chunks like you'd watch smaller series. 's what I'm doin' with One Piece right now; I watch an arc, take a break, maybe check out some other stuff in between, watch another arc, rinse repeat. If you're enjoying the series, it gives you something to fall back on when everything else is shit.

reading is easier for me?
i guess its more engaging and easier for me to stay focused. when i watch something, anything really not just anime, im usually doing something else bc otherwise my mind will wander and after 5 minutes ill have paused it and started to look something up online or whatever. whereas with reading i can burn through 10-20 chapters in one sitting before needing to do something else. so im not sure it my attention span is small bc it only applies to one kind of media?

 

If you're anything like me killing 20 chapters of something is at least equivalent to watching 1 episode of it so it might just be that you're covering ~20x as much material so you're attention span isn't actually longer it just doesn't have to be engaged with any one thing for as long.

I personally don't have an issue with manga, especially since it lets the story go as long as the mangaka has envisioned as well as giving more focus to the art since it doesn't have to be animated, which I think you probably value most?

But the strong points of anime to me that manga obviously can't achieve are when there's strong and smooth animation, well directed and performing voice acting, fitting music, and even memorable sound effects.

The active visuals and the audio stimulation engage me more than still images, but I get it's not the same for everyone, especially with differing kinds of attention spans. The thing you said about wandering is actually what happens to me with reading too often.

Dunno what my point was. Probably that different =/= dumb? Though that seems obvious.
