    First things first:

Selling my Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, and a **** ton of games (including a treausre trove of a binder filled with old 90's PC games). I also want to sell my PS2, but only if the PS3 I buy is backwards compatible.

So I have a few questions.

If the PS3 I get is backwards compatible, what accessories, if any, should I keep to play my PS2 games on it?

Are there any major differences between the Slim and the Fat models?

What is the best storage size?

What is considered a fair price for a used PS3? I've seen used 160 GB Slims selling for $200, while the 40 GB Fat models sell for the exact same price. Seems rather unfair, so I just want to make sure I'm not getting gypped.

And finally, what are some games that I should get? I have an idea of the games I want, but I also want to hear what other people have to say.

i personally think you should keep your PS2. i don't think you'll be able to find a backwards compatible PS3, at least one that isn't used. and even if you do, the compatibility is 100% on all titles. and fyi, all models are 100% compatible with PS1 games. if you do opt for a BC PS3, make sure to get an adaptor for your PS3 memory card, you'll need it to transfer your save files. however, you can't really use it as a memory card for the PS3. you can't save directly onto the memory card while playing a game, but you don't really need to because you create virtual memory cards on the PS3. so you can skip this accessory if you don't care about your PS2 saves.

i don't really know the difference between the slim and fat models.

for storage size, it doesn't matter TOO much because you can replace the hard drive with any standard SATA drive. i bought an 80 GB PS3 and have never really had an issue with space as long as i deleted games/demoes/install data for games i don't play anymore.

for a fair price, i'm not really sure.

recommended games: Devil May Cry 4. Metal Gear Solid 4. Heavy Rain (might a rent because it's short). Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. Mortal Kombat 9. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Infamous. Resident Evil 5. Resident Evil 6. that's all i can think of off the top of my head.

Okay, that's good to know about the memory cards. Also, I know that it's not BC on all games, but only one of my games isn't BC. And I don't own any PS1 games, so I really just want BC with PS2 games.

If that's the case, then there's not much of a reason for me either. The issue is the price of the different storage size,s since there isn't much difference between prices. It's pretty annoying, honestly having varying sizes all be around the same price.

I was planning on some of those games.

    Thanks for the help

    PS3Phat 60GB are BC

All Slim PS3 are not BC (Only PS1)

Get a PS3 20/60GB if you want to play your PS2 games.
    or
Get a Slim PS3 if you want a slimmer PS3

You can always upgrade the HDD on any PS3.

just gonna ask an extremely non-tech related question here

Do you have any idea what your PSN ID might be?

    @thread:

So I've kind of decided to go against getting a PS3 with BC. I'm just going to sell all my PS2 games along with my PS2. Also selling my Wii and all my Wii games. It's pretty much time to shed everything I don't play with anymore.

So, I'll probably end up getting a Slim (or an original if the price difference is really huge). So anything I should really know about the Slim models?

I haven't gotten a PS3 yet, so I don't have a PSN ID. I'll be getting it at the end of the week at the latest.

Well I know that. What do you think your username might be, though? Any ideas?

Oh, I didn't realize. Um, I'm not sure? I'd like to go with psychedelic since I think it's groovy and all.

I still hung onto my PS2 but I have to say, I barely play it now that I've gotten my PS3. I think I put one or two games in and played for like an hour, but with all the HD collections (Kingdom Hearts hopefully included in that) out, and the titles available in the PS Store, I don't think it's necessary to go crazy with backwards compatibility.

I think the major difference between the slim & the fat is the available hard drive sizes, and I believe the slim is more energy efficient.

Hm, ok. I guess it's also a plus having extra space in case I do get all crazy with my install data and save 'em like Nick.

Also, since it'll be a newer model, it won't break down as quickly and won't be as bulky.

Cool, so I guess even though most of my questions have been answered, this can stay open in case I have any other questions before I run out and buy one.

Thanks for the help so far everyone, I appreciate it.
