Well, Halloween is just around the corner. What better way to prepare then create a listing of movies sure to put you at unease and make sleeping that night impossible?

To contribute, add a movie title and a 2 or so sentence description of why you think it deserves to be on this list. I'll start:

    The Shining (Stanley Kubrick)
-Not so much scary to me, but this movie definitely put me at unease. The way that a perfectly normal man could be driven into a homicidal insanity in an empty, secluded hotel, where many eerie occurrences take place, really gets to you. You can't say that the ending didn't creep you out at least a little. Great acting for all the characters, and definitely deserves its title as a classic horror movie.

Also, don't bother adding any of those stupid blood and gore movies. That isn't scary, creative, or cool. I'm addressing the SAW series, Hostel, Final Destination, and any other film that tries to center its attraction on what some would call "gore-porn".

I get scared real easy (seriously, the start of KH made me nearly wet myself X_X), so I don't watch too many horror films... Most of you probably won't even consider these to be scary xDx

The Sixth Sense (M. Night Sh- forget it, I'm not even gonna try to write it down >.<)
It was quite frightening imo, the atmosphere was so damn creepy and eerie, and I was continuously expecting something bad to happen.

    Misery
HOLY S*** THAT WOMAN IS INSANE Dx
Kathy Bates can be so scary ;_; The things she was capable of... *shudders* And the violence was rather startling, it was so torturous (and not in the gore-porn way, either).

Probably most of the good Stephen King-filmations would qualify.

I say Jaws. Nothing scares me more than great white sharks.

So seeing them killing and seeing the blood drift in the water everywhere kinda gives me nightmares... And then the bloodcurdling music right before the shark's gonna attack someone...

Hey, Final Destination had me shitting bricks the first time I saw it. The whole 'you can't escape death' thing really creeped me out. I'll admit the sequels are just about gore, but the first one was really innovative. Hardly porn.

For me, Thirteen Ghosts is probably the scariest film I've seen. This is because I watched it when I was too young and wasn't ready for it, so I didn't watch it again for like, 7 years and I still felt the same fear I did when I watched it the first time, ha. The ghosts are depicted as completely invisible, fast and bloodthirsty. It's also about a gateway to hell and other demonic things, which creeps me the fuck out.

To the person who said Scary Movie: what
