Running Edge

Once the taxi stopped at Alex's neighborhood, he paid the driver and left. Along the way, he saw Kaleb smoking. Considering the fact that they were going to run into each other, he headed towards Alex's house.

 

A smile flashed across alex's face for a moment, before the pain in her foot took over.
"not quite a hospital, but pretty close. Mya and kurisu...they're watching ryku. He left with that bomb in a hurry. Just makinh sure he isn't up to something. They should be here soon, but I doubt it. With the way they've been acting."
She noticed ren coming up the street as she looked out the window.
"ren's here."
Alex walked into the kitchen and took another vicodan. She should have been resting her foot for quite some time, but given the situation she didn't have a chance.

Kaleb took a long drag of his cigarette and noticed one of the runner's that he hadn't really seen much walk by. He gzve him a nod and then headed around a corner towards his apartment. When he got home he placed his gun in the antique case he had received from his father.

 

Giving Kaleb the same acknowledgement nod, Ren continued until he was right at Alex's doorstep. Giving the door a quick knock, he waited for the door to be opened.

 

Alex heard the knocking on the door and hobbled over to the door. She opened the door to see ren standing on the other side of the threshold.
"hey, glad to see you alive."
She walked away from the entrence to head back over to lynne who was lying in the middle of the room.

Kaleb went into his bedroom and opened up the closet doors. He had the gun case under his arm as he unlocked a sade at the bottom of the closet. He slipped the wooden box inside the safe and locked it. Once the closet doors were shut he headed back out the front door and to alex's house.

 

OOC: Well bushy seems not to respond. Oh well...

BIC: Mya walked over to the metal plate he stomped down on and examined it. This isn't just a bomb is it? I need answers. She slipped it down her pockets. Let's get to Alex's house. We don't want them to worry about us.

 

OOC: Fiddlesticks... (that's my censored swear) I am sorry. lol, basically, my Internet died for a few days just after the New Year began (and it was shaky before then anyway) and we had to order a new router and when I got the new router ...I uh... kinda forgot to respond to this (and a few other RPs) and... ugh, it's been a nightmare. lol
Again, many apologies. Should hopefully respond faster like I used to from now on. XD

"I can't really tell... I left my... 'How to make bombs, for dummies' book at home." he joked. "...If you say so, although, is it wise to leave an EBO alone when he has what is presumed to be a bomb? Besides, why should they worry? You and I are Ace Runners here, ya know?" he paused after his question, something bugging him as he chose to raise another. "I'm still wondering what is up with Alex. Does she not trust us or something?"

 

Kaleb thought about what sort of knowledge ryku might gain from the bomb as he walked back to alex's. He already knew so much about the eunner's to give the e.b.o. an advantage. All their faces and names, what hospital theyrefer, and even where their medic lives. Not too mention none of them are in very good shape. They could easily take them down no problem. He couldn't stay gone much longer right now, but as soon as the opportunity arives he planned on making an important phone call. One that would greatly help the government.

 

"I could say the same about you." Ren replied as he entered the house. "Nice mini hospital you've got set." He said as he noticed all the wires around the middle of the room.

 

Well he obviously didn't Like the idea of a city being bombed. It seems its not just a bomb that was going off. She started walking. Besides, it could just be me, but it seems that Alex suspects us of something.

 

Kurisu began to walk alongside her. "Hmm... it's funny. It seems to be when we go off together alone or something... I mean, when we went to get food and left the hospital, and had that race and such... she had the same look when we eventually got back..."
He sighed. "I don't get it... I mean, we've been runners for years, long before she even started helping us and before some of the others joined. Does she suspect us to betray them or something?" he pondered aloud, not straight away considering what could be a more likely possibility. "Or..." he paused, as he began to think again, not sure about the next 'more likely to be it' answer that had indeed begun to slip into his mind.

 

Alex smiled at ren as she took note of lynne's vitals.
"thanks, I do my best."
She kept checking out the window every couple minutes. Finally kaleb appeared in the view, but a frown grew on her face for a split second as she realized it wasn't who she was expecting to see. She tried to mask it as he came walking through the door. Alex sat down in a chair by the kitchen table. The pain killers were starting to take affect and all the excitement was wearing on her. Alex never did that much mission work. She always stayed behind and this had really wiped her out.

 

"No signs of Kurisu or Mya huh." Ren said,taking a seat on the chair.

 

Alex looked up at ren a bit distracted.
"hm? oh yeah...i guess not. I'm sure they'll be here soon."
Her eyelids grew heavy as she placed her head on the table. She needed to take a look at her foot, but it was the last thing on her mind at that moment.

Kaleb sat on the couch quietly. He didn't like being without his gun, but it was for the best. He just sat there watching everyone. That was the whole point of going undercover anyway, to observe.

 

Mya sighed and shook her head. I don't think it's along the lines of betrayal. More like suspicion between us two. Either way, I'm sure she trusts us and stuff, but maybe...She didn't want to ponder on that thought too long. It made her feel uncomfortable. Anyways, how close are we to her house?

 

"Just a few blocks away. It won't take us long if we run." Kurisu responded, but showed no signs of breaking into a run himself and instead just continued to walk at his own pace alongside Mya. Bothered by the fact that Alex was suspicious of them in some way.
They were all Runners. They were all like a family, if slightly dysfunctional. The fact she seemed suspicious or something for whatever reason did get to him slightly.
"I wonder..." he sighed.. "Nah... it couldn't be.. could it?" he murmured to himself.

 

Demitri nearly keeled over as his brother placed a familiar vial in front of him. "Is that?" Ryku nodded, "It's the same components as your disease. The fool who placed this inside a bomb inside a Runner wanted to infect the Runner and when the blood would...it would infect everyone who touched that Runner's blood." Demitri wheezed, "Holy...that one's new to me. Who?" Reluctant to answer, Ryku shut his eyes for a moment, "Our...father is alive, Dem..." The world seemed to stop moving, and in Demitri's mind it had. "Father...is alive...?"

 

Kaleb noticed alex starting to fall asleep at the table. She obviously wasn't cut out for all this running stuff. She seemed a little more girly then the others, but then again he had spent the most time with her then any of the runners. He didn't understand why the only runner he seemed to be around was the one that didn't do any work. He needed to find out who pays them and where they get their mission ideas from.

 

Mya continued walking, wanting to drop the subject. Soon, they were close to her house. Man I hope we're wrong about her being suspicious about us.
