Running Edge

Mya glared at him the whole time, itching to give him hell, until his last comment. A bomb? You *******. People like you would play dirty. Lucky you have her life in your hands or I would've killed you so bad. Let him go Kurisu.

 

Lazard smirked.

Lynne slipped the wire down across her knuckles and let it drop into the water, Free...now for them... She watched Hikaru and Kaoru quarrel and felt along her stomach. Gently probing the "present" inside her. Lazard would kill all these innocent people...for what? He didn't say...

 

kaleb continued to slowly ease his way to the back of the group. planting bombs was not something the ebo did. they were in all honesty just glorified cops after all. what was going on here was just wrong. lazard had planted a bomb on or near a well not necessarily innocent woman in the eyes of the law, but had done nothing wrong to him specifically. there was something much bigger going on here. kaleb kept his hand on his chest where his gun was hiding, just in case things came to that. and from the looks of it they might.

alex stood up slowly from the side of the dead body. lazard may be on the ground, but that didn't mean he wasn't dangerous.

 

Lazard opened his mouth to make another snide retort when his cell started to ring. "Hm? What is it?" he listened for a while and his expression changed. "What the hell do you mean gone!? How can you lose one little girl?! Well find her! It doesn't matter, she still has our gift for society and I have the upper hand. Just do it Hikaru!" He shoved Kurisu off him and stood, brushing off his torn suit, "Well, as much as I'd love to play with you all some more, I have to be going. I want to see the fireworks from someplace cozy."

 

Kurisu just let himself be shoved off before he punched the floor hard.. "You sick bastard." he spat, as he watched Lazard leave. "I'll get you for this. Once we save Lynne... Just you wait."

 

"Oh? I'm the sick one? No...you are... Why don't you try to save her? The place should be quite obvious."

Lynne jogged through several stores, brushing past people. She caught a glimps of a sign. "General Convienencies...you mean...they took me to that superstore near the center of town?"

 

Kurisu stood up at once and looked at the others grimly, ignoring his bleeding knuckles. "The place with the most people, that will take the most damage... Let's go." and he started to lead them on the trek towards the superstore near the centre of town.

 

alex ran to kurisu's side and grabbed his hand.
"what are you doing. you could brake something."
she quickly started to exam his fingers and knuckles to make sure they were all okay. alex carefully and gingerly picked at each of his individually to see if anything was off.
"well they are obviously bloody and your hand is going to hurt quite a bit, but nothing seems to be broken."
she watched lazard's back disappear down the tunnel. her voice was soft as she looked up at him.
"you're lucky..."
alex turned away and walked back towards the others, picking up her bag on the way.

kaleb dropped his hand and then stepped out of his corner.
"it sounds like your friend got free. we should probably get going if we want to find her before they do."

 

Ryku was getting impatient. Two hours had passed. "Kaleb...what are you doing? The twins aren't to be trifled with. Search and destroy is their specialty."

Lynne felt herself grow giddy for escaping until she bumped into a hard chest, "Ow..." "Going somewhere?" Fear spiked in her, "Huh...n-no! Where did you...dammit..."

 

kaleb looked down at his watch as they started to leave the underground warehouse. he was supposed to meet ryku in a little under an hour and he was definitely going to be late. they had no clue as to where they might find lynne and he needed to know as much about the twins as possible.

 

Mya sighed. Alright. The market is huge. We can't find her in a large group. We need to break off into teams. I'll go with Kurisu. Alex you go with Kaleb. Everyone else could spread out to the exits. We can't let Lynne panic. We have to find her ASAP.

 

Kurisu nodded at Mya's orders, but without waiting, 'cause he knew she'd be close behind anyway. He took off walking in search for Lynne, a thousand things racing through his mind.

alex hurried up the stairs. again, running wasn't what she was good at. it had already taken a lot of energy out of her before. now they needed to go on another parade through the city looking for lynne. if lynne made it out alive, alex was going to have to kill her herself.

kaleb knew this wasn't the ideal situation, but maybe if there was just the two of them he could find a chance to break away and talk to ryku. when they finally made it all the way up the stairs and outside. he suggested that they search in the park. if lynne had a bomb strapped on her, then odds are she would be some place heavily populated. he was amazed by how quickly alex had agreed with him and started off in the direction of the park.

 

Lynne grabbed at her chest, "You...g-get away from me! I'm getting the hell outta here, and you're not stopping me! I'm not going to kill all these people for a reason I don't even know!" Hikarua exchanged a glance with Kaoru behind him. "Oh, he didn't tell you? That's a shame. It's such a good reason too." Kaoru shrugged, "I guess that means we gotta tell her. Lazard wants to..." "Issue a threat to EBO to return property and status to Lazard in return for handing over the city." they said in unison.

BIC: Mya followed Kurisu quickly so she didn't lose track of him. It was going to be near impossible to find Lynne in a crowd like this.

 

kaleb stopped when they got to the park. he needed to get rid of alex so that he could find ryku. kaleb was already late for meeting him and if he took any longer ryku would be gone. ryku wasn't the type to wait around.

alex didn't realize kaleb had stopped until she was a little ways in ahead of him. her feet were killing him from walking around barefoot for so long. she turned around and looked at him confused.
"why'd you stop?"

he looked at her from down the street.
"i was just thinking. we could probably cover more ground in the park if we split up. it is rather big after all. if we don't find her in the next thirty minutes we'll meet back up right here."

she looked at him funny.
"and if we do find her and there is someone armed and about to shoot the person that finds her down, then what? we'd be safer if we stick together."

 

Lynne laughed, "That's a stupid reason!" Calming herself she sighed, "If he wants something so badly he should just go ask them." Hikaru and Kaoru laughed at her, "Stupid girl. EBO doesn't return anything unless they have something on the line for it. His property is a major breakthrough in cloning science. To make a perfect clone...it's awesome."

 

As soon as Ren was cleared off the stairs, he ran off in his own direction in search of Lynne. Come on feet don't fail me now.

 

Mya continued running along with Kurisu. Man where the hell could she be?

kaleb stared alex down into submission.
"ugh! fine. thirty minutes. if we don't find her within a half hour we meet back right here."
she pointed down at the ground angrily and stormed off in a random direction to look for lynne. alex really hoped to find her at the park, but was afraid of what might happen if she did.

as soon as alex was gone kaleb pulled out his phone to call ryku. he was going to be lucky if ryku was still there. kaleb wandered around a little bit as he listened to the phone ring.
