Running Edge

Kurisu woke up to find himself half on the floor front wards, twisted slightly and his legs on a chair in the waiting lobby.
He managed to pull himself together and felt everything give a mighty crunch before he felt satisfied.
"...Screw doing that again..." he muttered tiredly.
Since he was already in the lobby, it hadn't mattered that he hadn't seen the notice board.
He had a feeling just plain waiting here would be the best thing anyway, it was like he already knew this was the next plan.

 

Kevin glared s he sat up, opening his eyes as light seemed to invade the room. He was up to the point where he passed out due to exhaustion last night. He was still tired but had just woken up from a nightmare again.

 

Lynne was run through a ton of tests in the morning to determine her level of healing and progress. Whimpering in pain, Lynne struggled through a small amount of walking from her bed to the bathroom and back and then a series of blood pressure tests and blood testing.

 

kaleb woke up and saw kevin already awake sitting on the massage table. he turned to speak with him. kevin looked like a wreck, but he figured that he himself couldn't look much better.
"good morning. sleep well?"

alex was normally an early riser. today seemed to be a different case. while everyone else was already waking up, she was in a deep sleep. if you hadn't known any better, you would assume she was in a coma.

 

Kevin looked at Kaleb, shrugging, "If you call waking up every five minutes well then, yes."

 

"someone's rather grumpy in the morning. but it's understandable i suppose. i didn't have the best night ever either."
kaleb sighed. he could tell this was going to be a long day and given yesterdays events, he couldn't just take the day to recuperate and think everything through. he would have to spend the entire time with these runners. that was something he wasn't too thrilled about.

 

Kevin looked at him and shrugged again. He laid down again rubbing his temples as he felt a head ache coming on, he closed his eyes jumping when he saw the vision of his father dieing as well as the house burning down. He opened his eyes again and sat up, he sighed.

 

Mya giggled after seeing Kurisu waking up. It's amazing you woke up. You sleep so awkwardly. Catch. It might help you wake up a bit. She tossed him a can of canned coffee.

 

Kurisu smiled and caught the can of coffee.
"Cheers Mya." He told her, groaning as he moved again and felt several more clicks.
After those though, he felt his body was done.
He opened the can and had a few sips... feeling the bitter yet somehow sweet taste of the coffee work it's way down his throat.
He felt a lot better after that.
He moved near Mya, "So... Um.."
He was tempted to talk to her about the events of last night, but... instead he found himself saying.
"Any sign of the others?
Any news on Lynne etc?"
He really did want to talk about it, but wasn't sure if he should or how he should.
He was one of the best Runners, an elite group that could do things most people could only dream of... and yet, he was totally clueless when it came to girls.

 

Mya smiled and looked up. She knew he was in a sorta awkward situation. Hmm...not yet. No one has arrived in the lobby yet. I'm guessing Hanna is still not in shape to do any sort of physical activity.

 

"Guess I'll have'ta run double time then, for the mean time until people recover.
...At least my injury wasn't that serious." Kurisu shrugged about his arm.
"There's that new guy too... I dunno, we don't know much about him, but right now, I don't think we can afford to turn away new members." he said, ticking off the list of business stuff in his head.
...Although his mind kept going back to... 'that'.
He gulped down the rest of his coffee.
"You want another?" he asked Mya.

 

kaleb got up off the couch and decided to go for a morning walk. he headed out the front door and pulled out his last cigarette.
this is my last one. i have know idea what i'm going to do after this.
he took one long slow drag off the cigarette as he walked. kaleb entered a coffee shop nearby and purchased a few assorted coffee drinks, not knowing what everyone would like. he also bought some danishes, scones, and muffins.
might as well make a good second impression.
on his way back to the house he thought about what there might be to expect of today. who all he will encounter and what sorts of questions they will ask. he knew for sure that he would be drilled with a thousand different questions to see if he was really committed to being there.
kaleb entered the house and held out the drink tray towards kevin.
"i didn't know what anyone would want. so there's kind of an assortment. take your pick."
he also held out the box of baked goods.

 

Iz stretched his arms out backwards as he yawned, Who am I waiting for again...?he thought, reaching into his pocket for the picture that he'd been given of his client. Oh yeah, that's right... He stood up from his seat on top of the building and gazed out into the city that laid before him.

With a sigh, he turned on his heel and began running back.

 

Mya shook her head. I'm good. One is enough. She stood up and streched her arms. Anyways, what shall we do today?

 

Hanna's eyes flickered open and she stretched as she sat up. She frowned as she saw the clock, she'd slept longer than usual but shrugged it off, she felt better from a good sleep though she ached all over. Slowly she got up and glanced over her sholder at the sleeping Alex. She smiled slightly, she deserved a good sleep after her work the day before. Being careful to be quiet, Hanna moved away to get ready and have a wash.

 

Lynne had spent the duration of her morning glaring at her doctors and muttering curses as they pricked her fingers. I need to heal fast...so I can kill Demitri... I'll kill that SOB if it's the last thing I do. she vowed silently to herself.

Demitri woke and felt the tug of his stitches. Groaning as he stood, he sniffed and smelt pancakes. "Well Ryku...do you actually sleep or do you just stay up all night tending to others?" he mocked his brother from a distance and knew he'd heard him. The tell-tale sound of metal sliding from a sheath told Demitri to duck and as he'd predicted, a kitchen knife came flying over his head and lodged into the wall. "Easy bro....you could've hit me...or the TV."

Ryku gave his brother a sarcastic smile and shook his head, "I wish...You could've died from that stupid move yesterday Dem.... Lynne could've killed you and you could've killed her. You're lucky we get paid damage fees...." He caught Demitri's curious glance and jerked his head toward the stack of papers on the table. On top was a check. It was enough to cover the supplies he'd used to fix Demitri up and for a month's supply of his medicine. "We all good then?" Ryku smiled, "Yeah...we're all good. Next time...be a little more careful.. Don't leave without me." Demitri nodded as Ryku set a plate of pancakes in front of him and watched his brother messily help himself.

 

kaleb heard some muffled noises from the bedroom.someone must be getting up in there.

Alex didn't notice hanna crawling over her to get out of bed. She just continued to sleep unaware of the fact that everyone else was already awake.

 

Kevin took one of the drinks from kaleb and opened it. He the took a sip and decided he could with out it and just continued to hold the can in his hand.

 

kaleb glanced back at kevin.
"you all right?"

 

Lynne and a flock of doctors hobbled down the hallway of the hospital. A few fretted that she shouldn't be moving and a couple others brushed them off and encouraged her to move around. "You guys...have to get off...my back. I can do...this."
