Running Edge

Kevin began to sweat, probably due to a fever for over exerting him self. "it's...my...fault..." whispered Kevin in his sleep, gripping his chest.

alex attempted to tune out everything kaleb was telling hanna. she had already experienced it and didn't want to relive the incident, not to mention she had to focus on kevin. he was bad. she didn't want to wake him, because he had gone through a lot and needed the rest, but she also needed to examine his throat. he could have his lungs filled with smoke and there could be ash in his throat, minimizing his breathing. alex knew about kevin's asthma, not because he had told her, but because she was their physician. she could just tell. he hid it well and she figured that she was probably the only one that knew about it. it was obvious why he wouldn't want anyone to know. they would give him to much slack and wouldn't want to work as hard as the rest of them if they knew it had problems breathing from all of the running. he didn't want to look bad was all, so she kept it a secret. so secret that she hadn't even told kevin she knew about it. when alex was done with kevin and it appeared that kaleb was done talking she walked over to hanna.
"hanna it's your turn. you can just sit right here though. i don't really wanna move kevin. he needs all the sleep he can get, not to mention he absolutely cannot go on missions for awhile. i'm going to talk to mya about it, but i think he should probably stay here until he's up to par. that way i can better keep an eye on him and make sure he's doing everything he's told."
she sighed.
"i know you're a tough girl, but you gotta tell me what hurts."

kaleb got up from the couch and went to sit on one of the chairs by the dining room table. he didn't want to interfere with alex's work.
i should really go. i have no place here right now. i feel like i'm watching things that i should just not be seeing. it's immoral and wrong. i'm not like the other EBO. they were all sent out to fight them and hunt them down from like the moment they received the title of EBO, i was forced to do desk work. fill out reports and file them away, and now they give me this. infiltrate the Runners and destroy them from the inside. "they don't know your face" he said. "you'll do great" he told me. "you get this done and you'll be a hero, able to go anywhere and do anything you want." this is sick. what a horrible thing to do.
he sighed and opened his phone to send ryku a text.

Hanna nodded, still a little taken aback from what Kaleb had just told her. This had not been a good day for any of them. She glanced at Kaleb, hell of a day to join, before looking back at Alex and sitting down. She smiled slightly, "Alright. I'm not that bad though, not compared to Kevin at least. My breathing has improved quite a bit in the fresh air and the rest is mainly cuts and bruises." She looked down at her arms where they'd been cut by the shards of glass, then felt her back. She didn't know if it had started showing yet, but she knew it would come out it a big bruise where she'd landed heavily on her back, despite it not breaking the skin. "I think as today's gone, I've got off fairly lightly"

 

Kevin started to toss and turn, seeing the runners in his dream. He say Lynne dead in he hospital, he then saw the others lifeless forms, he had caused it all in his dream. "i-it's a-all my fault...." whispered Kevin agian as he stopped tossing and turning.

 

alex put some salve on the cuts and bandaged them up. she then shuffled through the bag looking for a pill bottle when she pulled it out she handed it to hanna.
"it's vicodin, you're going to need it with the amount of bruises you have. can you turn around for a minute?"
she held hanna's shoulder as she looked at her back. alex could see the bruising. it was faint, but you could definitely tell it would be bad.
"yeah, you're definitely going to need that. even though you aren't nearly as bad as kevin or lynne, you're still going to need to take a day or two to recuperate. with the bruising you have, any amount of pressure would make you crumble."
alex went to the closet and grabbed some blankets and pillows. she placed one blanket on top of kevin and set a blanket and pillow next to hanna on the couch.
"with everything that happened to day i would feel a lot better if you stayed here for tonight. feel free to wash up, you smell horribly like smoke, and i have some extra clothes that should fit you. i can wash those ones for you."
alex turned to look at kaleb.
"are you all right?"

kaleb nodded.
"this is all lynne's blood. i'm perfectly fine."
he looked down at the screen on his phone. still no response from ryku. kaleb was fighting the urge to go over there and check on demitri. the runners got him good. a shattered collarbone and a stab wound to the stomach. not to mention he's sick.
i'm sure he's down for the count right now.

"the bathroom is right around the corner there. feel free to wash that mess off of your hands."

he nodded and walked into the bathroom and started scrubbing away at what was left of lynne's blood. kaleb started spacing out when thinking about all that happened today. so much had occurred in such a small amount of time. and lynne...he couldn't get lynne off of his mind. it didn't help that she was also all over his hands and arms, but the image of her fading face began to haunt him.

 

Hanna looked down at the bandages and the pills. She was a big fan of letting her own body doing the work instead of just bandaging it all up, so if she didn't need them she prefered to go without. But she guessed it was nesccesery, "How long will I need to take these for?" She was also not to keen on taking a few days off, but that she guessed she could do with a little time to relax. Everyone could do with a break after a day like today. "And fine, yeah I'll stay" She moved towards the door to get cleaned up.

 

ooc: Ah, been gone for too long. Sorry. I'm back in the game now. I belive Lynne is still in surgery? Yes?

bic: A doctor came out from Lynne's surgery and sighed. His job was finished finally. Glancing back through the windowed door, he watched the pale girl being bandaged. She was a mess on the inside and somehow she had the will to live through it all. Amazing. Throwing his bloody gloves away, he looked for Alex who'd brought her in.

Any other person would've panicked. Ryku didn't. After the paramedics took Lynne and the rest of the Runners continued to ignore them, he'd taken Demitri home and fixed him up good. A nice sling now held his arm in place so his collar bone could heal and several bandages that were changed daily covered his stab wound. Listening to the quiet he felt his phone vibrate. A text from Kaleb... Smiling briefly at the worry he could hear in his words, he finally replied. ALIVE. He wasn't much for a texter and figured that was enough.

alex gave hanna one more quick once over.
"i'm not sure. probably only a couple days. as long as you stay honest with me about how the pain is doing it wont be long."

kaleb dried of his hands and opened his phone to read the message from ryku.
that's a relief.
he stepped out of the bathroom and started to head for the front door.

"what do you think you're doing? you're not going anywhere either."

"but i'm just fine. not injured at all."

"doesn't matter. everyone is just going to stay here for the night."
she grabbed his arm and pulled him down onto the couch.

 

Hanna sighed looking down at the pills, "Fine" She guessed she'd have to take them to give her body a helping hand though she still didn't like taking drugs. She moved through into into the bathoom to wash herself but paused and called back, "How many beds and couchs do you actually have? Will we all fit?"

 

Several doctors stood in front of Lynne's door and waited for a minute before another doctor came running out, speaking quickly and all of them rushed back in. Monitors were beeping rapidly and cries came for more blood and suction. Even several curses were heard throughout the hall of the operation room. Lynne was fading again....fading fast.

 

Kurisu sat outside the window watching them trying desperately to save Lynne.
He wasn't religious in the slightest... but right now, he was actually genuinely praying to whatever might be out there.
He wondered how Mya was doing... everyone was taking it hard, of course.


OOC: Sorry short post was short, but I haven't posted for a while. lol

 

Mya stood next to Kurisu, examining her operation. She'll make it won't she? I believe in her. She doubted it though. It didn't look as if she could last an hour.

 

Lynne's doctors left her room again, wiping sweat from their heads and frowning. One caught sight of Kurisu and Mya, "You two know her? Good, we can't seem to find any relatives around. Lynne's condition is serious. She should stay off the streets for a while. It looks like and EBO bullet that hit her. Do you two know anything that might help us?"

 

Mya shook her head. I don't know her family. Sorry

 

The doctor frowned and refocused, "Then perhaps you can tells us about how she got shot? She seems to have experienced a lot of trauma in the incident. Like I said, the wound looks to be from an EBO officer's bullet. I know Lynne and she wouldn't allow herself to be shot so easily. Please....the truth will help us fix her."

 

Mya sighed and looked through the window. I didn't wittness the whole thing, but I can tell you what I know as of now. She got into a fight with an EBO soldier and he shot her. The thing was he didn't meant to wound her seriously...or kill her.

 

Kurisu spoke up... "I was there... it happened right in front of me... it was so fast. I didn't see it perfectly but..." and so he explained what happened.
"She's gonna make it right?" he asked... but he wasn't even asking the doctor... he was just asking out loud what was on all of their minds.

 

The doctor was swamped in his own thoughts. Fingers rhythmically tapping on his pen. Finally his trance broke and his face grew even more serious than it was before. "I see...she was shot by Black Chaos. His bullets are specialy made with ridges on the edges for maximum damage. His bullet went straight through one of her lungs but we've managed to patch the hole. But....for how long the patch will last....10 years....or as little as 10 hours. Either way it's risky. We'll keep monitoring her for the next two days, it shouldn't limit what you all do but I don't think it's a good idea for her to be running around just yet."

 

Mya nodded. Thank you doctor. I don't care as long as she lives. I entrust you that she doesn't leave this hospital. She walked towards the exit of the hospital.
