Running Edge

Kurisu looked down at the floor.
"My mum eh? Well, the Government you love so much saw that she couldn't teach me such things."
He eyed the pistol that Demitri had laid a hand on.
"Filthy whore you say?... someone should wash your mouth out with soap." he smirked darkly.
"Lynne isn't the sort to resort to such a thing. Not that she would harm that guy anyway.." he said, positioning himself in front of Lynne slightly as a defensive measure.
He stole a glance at the others... he hoped they would keep up with the rescue of Kevin... after all, they didn't know how much time Kevin would have if they couldn't get him out.
This has been one hell of a day eh?

 

Demitri shrugged, "That's not my problem." He pulled the pistol out of it's little pocket and held it up, "I'm done with this game anyway." His finger squeezed the trigger and the last sound was of the shell hitting the ground...

 

Kurisu shoved Lynne to the floor, and felt the bullet graze his left arm... "Gah!"
Shi... that didn't feel good... he thought.
He gripped his arm and ran forwards, throwing himself into a tackle that hit Demitri's gut, knocking them both to the floor and sending the pistol flying.
Thank god he had been ready for the shot... although not ready enough... as evident from the burning pain in his arm... and the feel of warm blood trickling down his skin.
Thankfully, although this was just a guess on his part since he hadn't had the chance to get a proper look at his arm, but the bullet had literally just caught the side of the arm. Not going through a chunk of flesh, but opening the skin non the less.

 

Demitri fell with a thud and winced. "Idiot get off me!" he pushed at Kurisu, his fist flying for Kurisu's face.

 

Kurisu full on took the blow to the face but still, he didn't let go of Demitri.
"Dumbass! As if I would!" Kurisu yelled back.

 

Demitri growled and fumbled for his pistol lying a few feet away. He pushed on Kurisu and kicked him until he let go. Demitri crawled hurriedly toward his pistol.

 

{ooc: wow....i posted this morning when i was on my break from work and now it took me twenty minutes to get caught up on the reading. this is the most behind i've felt since the rp started. congrats. =>}

alex got kevin's voicemail again.
"kevin, it's alex. if you get this call me back right away. it's important. i need to know if you're okay or not. you shouldn't have left the clinic so early. it could danger your health. call me."
she started to dial mya's number as she ran down the streets.
gotta find out where everyone is.

kaleb stopped breaking the boards at the sound of the gunshot. he looked to see what was going on.
demitri. great, just what i need to blow my barely started cover.
he turned back to the boards on the window. kaleb managed to clear enough boards in one section of a window to break through the glass.
"mya, right? stand back."
he took his shirt off and wrapped it around his fist to prevent the glass from cutting him and then smashed his hand into the window breaking the glass. he cleared the jagged peices out of the way so that they wouldn't get cut as they went through. he stepped out of the way.
"ladies first?"

 

Kurisu winced from the kicks as he was forced off, but this wasn't over yet... he too crawled after Demitri and threw himself at the EBO officer again just as the he had reached the gun.
They rolled around on the floor trying to overwhelm the other... both at a state of being evenly matched to an extent. Demitri disadvantaged from his illness and Kurisu from the gun shot and the various blows Demitri had landed on him.
A flailing leg kicked the gun away again, but towards Lynne.

 

Lynne stared at it, pain in her eyes. She grabbed it and aimed unsteadily at Demitri. Or at Demitri and Kurisu's rolling forms.

Panicking now, Demitri kicked Kurisu in the face and stood, he felt a cough trying to overcome him but he forced it down. He ran towards Lynne and she fired, hitting his collarbone and shattering it. Still he kept going. Tackling her and prying the gun out of her hands, Demitri didn't know what happened next. His memory was hazy. A shot echoed in the silence, but who was shot? Demitri or Lynne?

 

Kurisu felt his nose crunch and the feeling of more blood although it was slight... his eyes watered slightly from the blow..
His head was forced back... as he fell off of Demitri. He tried to go after him, but was dazed...
The he heard a shot, Lynne was holding the gun, but amazingly... Demitri hadn't slowed. He tackled her and Kurisu couldn't see clearly what happened next as both of them were on the ground...
but another shot echoed out... he couldn't tell who had fired...
"LYNNE!!" he shouted, forcing himself to stand and running over to the two.
This would end two ways... All would be well, Lynne would be fine... or he would be the one shot next..

 

kaleb took his eyes off of mya and looked back towards where the gun shots were coming from again.
hopefully this kid can wait a minute or two.
he unwrapped his shirt and put it back on his chest and ran towards, lynne demitri and kurisu. he saw kurisu's arm and demitri's collarbone.
tri, what are you getting yoursef into this time? this is no way to make ryku relax. when he finds out what happened to you he's going to freak.
kaleb remembered hearing a third gunshot and look between demitri and lynne, to figure out where the other gunshot went.

 

Demitri stood up, the gun in his hand and his other hand clutching his stomach. He tried to step away but stumbled and fell to the ground, staring at the sky. A knife in his stomach and his breathing fast and shallow.

Lynne had been shot. She'd pulled the knife from it's holster on his leg and stabbed him as she felt the warmth spread through her. Everything was going dark and fuzzy. When Demitri moved she felt blood trickle out of her mouth. How could this...have happened? Blood pooled under her as it also flowed out of Demitri's wound.

 

"LYNNE!" Kurisu shouted again.
Ignoring the pain in his arm, he tore off his top and applied pressure to Lynne's wound. "Just stay with us! Okay?! You'll be fine!"
he completely at the time ignored Demitri.
"Dammit! where's Alex? We need her now!" he called out to anyone.
She needs a hospital... but... we can't move her like this...
He continued to apply pressure to the wound and mutter words of encouragement to her. Trying to keep her awake.

 

Hanna glanced at the others, concerned about them, especially with the gun shots but she believed in the others. They could take care of themselves, now she wanted to make sure Kevin was okay. She quickly moved through the gap where kaleb had bust through, glancing round and spotting Kevin almost immediatly. She didn't waste a second in rushing to him, "Kevin! Are you alright?"

kaleb stared demitri in the eyes, and then looked at kurisu struggling to save lynne. he didn't know what to do. he couldn't fight his friend, but lynne was also already being attended to. he turned his back on demitri and knelled down next to kurisu and stared at lynne.
"hey, my name is kaleb. we haven't met yet, but we're going to be working together for quite some time. so you can't die on me, not yet at least. i don't even know your name. oh wait, it's lynne right? kurisu was just yelling it wasn't he."
kaleb smiled friendly at the girl.
"you can't quit on me quite yet. that would look bad."

alexandria heard gunshots as she came closer to the shabby part of town. she stopped dead in her tracks.
NO! NO! this can't be happening.
she ran as fast as she could physically make her body move toward the sound of the guns.

alex came across a scene she never wanted to see. kurisu trying to save lynne who was lying on the ground in her own pool of blood, along with some stranger kneeling next to him, the EBO guy with a horrid wound on his collarbone, and a shabby boarded up house where mya was standing by.

 

Lynne struggled to focus on them. She heard Kurisu talking and someone else. "Kur...isu....I'm....so s-sorry. I couldn't...be strong...like...you..." She watched Demitri shakily pull the knife out of his stomach and cover his wound.

 

"Hey.. Don't be silly, you can't be strong like me because you're stronger kay?"
He looked at her as he still applied pressure to the wound. "That's why you'll make it through this." he told her, trying to look determined.

 

Lynne nodded weakly and opened her mouth to speak again and blood gagged her. Coughing, she gasped and grabbed his hand applying pressure, "I went to him...he....he wanted to thank me. That was it. Th-thank me. I can't...belive I was so...s-stupid... He doesn't like me..."

Demitri coughed hard. His illness taking it's toll now and blood came bubbling up to his lips.

 

"...Well the guy is mad if he doesn't like you.." Kurisu said to her gently, trying to keep her focus.
He noticed Alex's arrival. "Alex! We need you now! Don't just stand there!" he called desperately.

 

Lynne smiled and her eyes started to close. "No..he's right....I shouldn't....get my hopes...so high..." Her smile died on her lips and her eyes unfocused as they drifted shut.
