Running Edge

Mya smiled. He's holding up alright I suppose. She then heard her name and tuned around, seeing Hanna and some person. Huh wonder what's up?

 

"Let's find out..." Kurisu told her.
"I mean, I highly doubt you were both worried for me and both came to find me and just suddenly a random stranger decided he too was worried and followed." He then stopped himself.
"Did what I just say even make any sense?" He asked himself aloud.

 

kaleb waited patiently for the girl to respond. he glanced over her shoulder to see that the two she had called for were heading towards them.

alex stepped out into the night alone, like most days. she usually spent most of her time by herself, except when the team would get back from missions. the night air had gotten a little brisk and alex wished that she had her jacket with her. oh well. she shrugged it off and headed west towards home.

 

Hanna smiled seeing them start to come over, she looked back at Kaleb seeing him smoke, another thing she counted against him. She nodded slowly at his reasons, they semmed decent enough though "Your reasons seem fair enough and I guess it can't harm, I'm Hanna. Nice to meet you."

 

Lynne sighed, night had fallen and she slipped out the door and into the city. Again, like promised Ryku's window was unlocked....she felt her cheeks grow red. Slipping inside, against her better judgment, Lynne noticed a pair of green eyes glittering from a figure sitting on the bed. Lynne froze, but the figure moved into the moonlight and showed only a silver haired cat. Sighing, she reached down to pet the little creature.

Ryku watched Lynne petting his cat. Zanna was an affectionate cat and often a traitor. He cleared his throat and watched Lynne jump, "Please, don't be alarmed. You know who I am and my brother is passed out drunk in his room. I, of course don't drink much and though he believes I'm a lightweight, I would not pass out from drinking." he tried a sincere smile in hopes she'd smile too. She didn't and he felt his hopes die a little, "Um, your friend Hanna told me your name. I know I shouldn't have a right to talk to you, being and EBO officer and all, but I just wanted to meet you once in my life."

 

Kevin finally woke up from the medicine. The paramedics told him that he had to stay off his ankle which ment he had to use a crutch, since his other arm was in a stint so it wouldn't get strained by him using it. He was told the others had left so he headed out into the city again, this time heading out of it. To the outskirts of town, where his old, run down house was he hadn't been to the house since his sister left after an insane temper tantrum after hearing he was a runner.He felt as though he had to go there for some unknown reason, he just felt like he had to.

 

Mya shrugged from Kurisu's response and headed towards Hanna.

when alex arrived home she pulled her keys out of her pocket and unlocked the door to step inside. she set the bag down gently on an end table by the door and locked it behind her. she walked through the living room and entered the bathroom silently to take her contacts out.

kaleb took a long puff of his cigarette then exhaled. "it's a pleasure to me you hanna." he smirked at her and then stared to watch the other two get closer.

 

Kevin made it to his home he opened the already unlocked door. He stepped in, walking through the hallway, looking at his family pictures, he sighed, missing the time when he and his family were together and not out to get each others heads. He looked at the smiling pictures of them all. He walked up the stairs and to his room. The blankets were thrown off the bed, the bed was flipped over, and the picture that once hung on the walls and sat on the dresser were all lying on the floor with shattered pieces of glass around them. Suddenly the crutch was kicked out from under him and he collapsed to the ground since he was unable to keep his balance.

"I thought I told you to never come back here." said the familiar voice of his
sister.

"it's my house too." said Kevin, looking up at his insane sister, who lucky for him didn't have her guns on her. She walk towards him and he slid away from her, wimcing when his good arm was stabbed by pieces of glass. She grabbed his collar a d threw him harshly against the wall knocking him out.



Kira smiled seeing her unconscious and wounded brother, she walked up to him and kicked his stomach three times, then left saying, "that was pay back for earlier." She then left the house completely.

 

she splashed some water on her face and followed with patting a towel to it afterwards. alex put her glasses on next and stared at herself in the mirror.
"emotions stay out of this. they can be my friends but that's it. they're not my family and i don't love anyone. at any moment they could be gone. one of them, or all of them. this is a dangerous life and my mission is solely to heal them. not get attached."
she sighed. alex wasn't one to deal with emotions well. unlike most of the others she grew up with a normal family. she was given almost everything she was asked for and both of her parents were alive. if they found out what she was doing they wouldn't be happy with her. when alex told her parents she was going to go into nursing they were ecstatic, the fact that she would help save lives. somewhere along the road her feelings changed about saving lives in a way that her parents never expected.
she walked into the kitchen and pulled out her phone to dial the number of the clinic they were at.
"hello, i was wondering about the status of kevin." a pause. "he's already left? but he needs to rest, he shouldn't be out yet." she hung up her phone furiously. alex decided to try calling kevin, thinking it wouldn't be a good idea for him to be walking around. no answer... she dialed his number again. still no answer...this isn't good.
she scrolled through her contacts list looking for mya. pick up, pick up, pick up alex waited nervously to hear mya's voice on the other end.

 

Kira made it impossible to enter the house a from every window and door. She also blocked kevins door so he wouldn't be able to get out, she also made it impossible to go up or down The stairs with out falling from toys and crap on it, his only way to get out is from the window that was blocked by the overturned bed and the dresser, she smiled looking at his phone that had lit up from two calls from someone by the name of Alex, she smiled, throwing it into the torn up living room, she then exited the house, never to return again.

 

alex began panicking with every ring that went unanswered. "mya please pick up." those few seconds felt like an eternity.

 

Mya felt her phone ring and picked up. Alex? What's up?

 

alex began speaking so fast that her entire sentence ran together."themedicalunitletkevinoutoftheclinicalreadywithoutevenmakinghimstaytorecoverandnowhe'snotansweringhisphoneandithinksomethingmightbewrong!"she let out an exasperated breath.

 

Kurisu could hear Alex's voice through the phone from beside Mya.
"...What was that?"

 

Lynne watched Ryku cautiously. It was like her dream...except....a lot different. She realized her palms were sweating. She was afraid?! Lynne fisted her hands and waited.

Ryku watched her struggle for control of her emotions and smiled again. His bright blue eyes focused solely on her as he advanced toward her, "Dont....be afraid...please....don't....move." He watched with a rising hope when Lynne didn't move and now he stood only inches from her. Leaning forward, Ryku wrapped his arms around her and hugged her. Lynne gasped in shock and he mumbled, "Thank you for not intervening in my brother's fight with that boy. I owe you everything for not killing him when his guard was down and focused on him. My brother means a lot to me and it would kill me to see him hurt worse than he gets done with a job."

Lynne let herself be hugged by the man who'd haunted her dreams. She didn't know how much her heart could take of being this close to him. It was already beating so rapidly.

 

alex jumped a little when she heard kurisu's voice through the other end of the line. "you're with kurisu? good, we need to look for kevin. i called the clinic to see how kevin was doing and they said they already let him leave. he should be there for a few more days for recovery. i tried calling his phone a few times and he's not answering. he ALWAYS answers when i call. he shouldn't be wandering around with those kind of injuries. kevin can barely support himself. and with his crazy sister out there this would be the optimal moment. like a lioness about to pounce on a wounded gazelle. it's just wrong!"

 

Kevin slowly opened his heavy eyelids, his head hurt from his collision with the wall. He pushed him self up using his arm. He yelped when a streaking pain went up his originally not wounded arm, he looked at it seeing the pieces of glass stuck in it. "Damn it." muttered Kevin angrly, he sighed, using the wall to stand up, then he picked up his crutch, using it to stay on his feet. He walked to the door trying to open it, but it wouldn't budge, he pounded on the door, no one came, he turned around, seeing the window partically blocked with the bed. He walked over to the bed, climbing on top of it and opening the window. He looked out the window, he could probably get out the window, he was skinny enough, but he'd just fall onto the hard ground and break another bone, since he was in no condition to jump and land properly, and his crutch would probably stab him. He sighed, searching his pockets for his cell phone, not finding it. "Shoot...that female dog stole my phone...this is just great." muttered Kevin. He sighed, walking back clear of the window and all the broken glass. He then saw a picture of when he was younger and with his father. He picked it up, sitting agianst the wall, curled in a ball, his legs pressed agianst his chest. A tear slid down to his chin, falling onto the picture, "dad...I miss you...why did you and mom have to leave us." He then slipped back into unconciousness.

 

Mya bit her lip. Hold on. We'll be right there. She shoved the phone back into her pocket. Lets go. Kevin could be in trouble.

 

Kurisu sighed and face palmed...
"With a sister like his... I wouldn't doubt it.
Listen uh... possible new guy?" he said looking at... well... the possible new guy who's name he didn't know.
"We don't really know who you are... so... if you wanna run with us... let's see if you can keep up first." Kurisu told him starting to jog off.
Suddenly he stopped and looked back at Mya. "Um... where does Kevin live again?"
Yeah, he had known Kevin for a few years... but he had never actually seen where he lived.
