Square-Enix Rumor: Final Fantasy XII HD Remake

Considering that FFX remaster will probably sell like hotcakes, a FFXII HD might not be too far off. Thoughts?

Being a semi-fan of FFX, and having FFXII cause me to give up on the series moving forward for a while? I don't think it'll sell well.

A lot of people didn't like this game. FFX was popular for reasons I can't even remember, and while there's fans for XII, it was a point in the series where people bought it for the nostalgia of X and were severely disappointed in it in a lot of cases. Myself included. They won't rebuy the game. There's people who love the game that will buy it, but I don't see it selling nearly as well.

 

What I don't understand is why they won't make an HD remake of Final Fantasy 7. A lot of people love that game and have been saying for a long time that they want it so I don't see why Square just doesn't due an HD remake of it already. I'm sure lots of fans would probably buy it (myself included) and KH fans who aren't Final Fantasy fans may also buy it since Cloud and many others from FF7 are in KH.

They said they'd only do that when another FF Game surpassed VII.

Though XV looks amazing, so I'm sure that time is soon upon us.

I was thinking about this earlier, if XV proves to be as great as it looks and lives up to the hype we may finally get a VII remake.

 

I personally liked Final Fantasy XII, so I would definitely buy it. My priority for such re-touching would be the loading times because for some reason, I know that my copy and some of my other friends' copies would not load certain cutscenes and areas whatsoever. I really loved the art style and design for Ivalice, so seeing it in beautiful 1080p would make me excited uguu~.

However, I also see this rumour as not coming true. Sure, XII wasn't as popular as, say, X and the entire Ivalice Alliance compilation that Square had previously marketed also didn't stick as well as the FFVII compilation, in comparison to their and others' own successes. So in terms of bringing in mo' money, I don't think Squeenix would venture the effort to remaster it. If they do anyway, great for me. But highly unlikely in the near future.

Me neither, I think it has something to do with people who love monotony and boredom? (read: MMORPGs)

 

Not every game has to be "exciting" to be fun. There was nothing even remotely satisfying about any other combat system in the series, other than maybe Tactics. Plus the story wasn't as fantastical as most other games like FFX and FFXIII.

I would love Dirge of Cerberus as well. While I never got a chance to play the game (is it even on the PSN?) I've watched the cutscenes atleast 3 times before on youtube and I totally loved the storyline.
