Since Envy regulates the place here more, he is formulating a response. Give him some time to type it out, okay?

Well, since my party has nominated me to speak on their behalf, I shall respond to this.

First of all, I am truly honored to be here today, speaking for such a group. It is a dream come true.

I think us putting in an effort to behave a bit better is fair. After all, regardless of our points, complaints were made against our actions and we should how that as older and more prominent members in the spamzone we can be mature and set an example that you, as staff, would be okay with.

If things are smoothly and we see things getting better for everyone as a whole while we can still enjoy ourselves we won't revert to the behavior of recent weeks because no one likes all these KH-Drama atmosphere. I would just like to say that if one or two members start slipping back into this behavior, talk to them and maybe even talk the ones not regressing before becoming strict again. We are all still individuals in the end, I am just the nominated speaker for the few of us who are online at the time. I personally will attempt to talk to someone if I see them regressing into bad behavior and will ask my cohorts to do the same.

I'm glad you're willing to trust us, and my party and I are willing to show that we can indeed be trusted. I look forward to working with you in the future, Madam President.

Take all the time you need to amend the rules, and we will begin trying to behave a bit better and make our fun a tad bit more friendly immediately.

Also, I do not speak on behalf of Jube as he is not in the MSN Huddle, though I hope he will also share our views.

This was the best post ever. When KHV history gets investigated by a future user similar to Llave, this will be found and kept on record as "The Diplomatic Speech"

We agree to all these terms, likewise, and are glad we can sort this out and reach each other in this middle ground. As not all were involved with this and doubtless may have something say, the thread will remain open, though much of it has been dealt with and concluded.

Agreement has been met. Speaking for our unnamed group, we like it when we get to work with the staff like this and help decide what's best for the forum. Don't keep us in the dark about things like this, we like to help keep the peace too. As we said earlier, we aren't particularly fond of the people who go beyond rough housing in the spamzone either.

    >MFW we become a legitimately recognized organization that tries to get things done on KHV

In all seriousness, I hope this all goes well. I'm glad we had this discussion.

In all seriousness now. It was an okay discussion. Fun after the initial boom. Now let's resume our activities and hope it doesn't get to this point where everything blows up into a million shards of destruction before it's actually discussed.

Not sure what you've been up to in this thread but please don't include me in groups.

Is this some sort of secret club now? The people's republic of KHV or something?

[I'm really late to the party but I went to sleep early because I had a migraine that would not abate for anything. So I just turned everything off and went to bed.]

Okay, I've been here on KHV for a really long time. I've wandered away when things got...I don't know the words I want to use...stale? overwhelming? I don't know but for some reason I always wander back. Call it curiosity or 'one never leaves KHV'. The point being that I'm an older member that has come back.

And yes, I was a bit...harsh[understatement] back in the day and am trying to be more civil to people here. I don't want to ruin anyone's experience with a site I had fun with. I've met some great people here and am still meeting great people. But on the flip side, I've met members who are...less than stellar. I won't name names but suffice to say that when Person A tells Person B that they don't want to continue a conversation, that should be respected and the end of it. You don't keep prodding at them until they break.

I do not have a problem with the rules as they stand nor do I have a problem with the current staff. I'm a staff member on another website and I know what crap they experience. Granted that site is not as active as KHV but you have to understand that a staff member is staff because they volunteered for that position. They are not getting paid nor are they obligated to perform as staff. There is no dental or health plan involved with being a staff member. They are here because they have some sort of passion for the site in question. They have their lives outside of the forum, as stated earlier, they go on vacations and go to school/college and have actual paying jobs. They have families and friends and interests and what have you.

And no, they are not Junior Dictators in training. This was not outright stated but I picked up that vibe and I say here that if that vibe was wrong, then I misread. Although I have my suspicions about What? But seriously, if we ask for them to give us the benefit of the doubt, then perhaps we should make it a two-way street and give them the benefit of the doubt. They are only human after all.

I agree that bullying is a problem. I was actually bullied in school to the point where it sucked. I was called names, I was threatened, I was followed home from school. And when I went to authority figures I got the: 'That means he likes you.' Derp line. And cyberbullying is far worse, because you remove the human aspect. You cannot see how the other person interprets your words and actions. How often have we misread the intention of text? Are all my posts read as sarcasm? [rhetorical questions]

I know I can be extremely blunt/caustic/intimidating and so forth, but I am trying really hard to get along with people.
I'm tired of arguing and just want to come to some sort of relaxing atmosphere.

To everyone in this thread complaining about me mentioning a 'group', you all know you're not in the group of problem members, were not talked to about being in a group, did not ask me to speak for you and are not being spoken for. It's a small group, and I was joking. Calm all your tits.

I know you aren't looking to name names, but I think you meant me with this and I tried to apologize before but it seems clear that it didn't get through. I am sorry for badgering you. I didn't know you well enough and I am sorry to have gotten on your bad side. That was never my intention.

If you could at least consider this post, I would appreciate it. I have a lot of respect for you and I would hate for you to disregard me completely because I let my aggressive habits get out of hand the first time we disagreed in the open.

I think you have me on ignore, but I hope you see this anyway.

I don't have anything more to add to the thread at this point, so I will see the lot of you around.

It isn't the very fact that the rules exist, because as far as I can see, those are very fair rules and easy to abide, so I fail to see the point in altering rules that will punish the entire community for the bad behavior of a small portion. However, here is my complaint.

When I was still an annoying newbie, there were certain threads that were beyond the PG-13 criteria, and some of which a user that I felt was personally attacking me (I do not wish to expose the name, mostly because I don't remember their name), and I did realize later on that they weren't joking, but the admins seemed to brush off most of the mature humor that was being posted.

I'm not a funsponge or anything, and I enjoy my fair share of adult humor as much as anyone, but there are certain lines that cannot be crossed, especially in the Spamzone. I am not implying that the mods are not doing their job right, so don't get me wrong.

To put it bluntly, it's not that the rules need altering, it's the fact that I personally feel they aren't enforced as much as they should be. The situation I mentioned above happened a few years ago, but I can't help but feel that it still may happen, the Spamzone is famous for its humor, and I feel that a younger guest may stumble upon a thread just like it, or may be intimidated by a user only for the admins to brush it off.

Have you read the thread? I strongly suggest doing so.

Changing the entire culture of the forum to accommodate potential younger people is not fair to those who have spent their time here and invested in the forum. If we want a free and easy going environment, then that means that we have to allow people to post without having to filter themselves to a point where they are no longer easy going.

The PG-13 rule is fine with me, but seeing as you do not post much, it seems strange and unfair of you to ask for more enforcement all around. The reason why this thread exists is because many members feel that the enforcement is too strong. These are generally the members that post in the Spam Zone daily or close to that. If you do not post there, then why are you mentioning it? The cultures of each section will be different. Asking others to change the culture of a section you have no investment in to accommodate your insecurities (if that is your intention) is unfair and selfish.

There will come a time when those younger members you speak of are as old as some of us in this thread are, and they will feel restricted just the same if they have the culture they have spent their time building on this forum torn down by some fringe members who call for stricter enforcement.

The concern is certainly noted, thanks (and welcome back).

I do want to say though that the site is a very different place than it was several years ago, both in terms of the frequent posters, the standards the staff upholds, and the staff itself. I can say from personal experience that I think things are a lot better now than they were (though there's always room for improvement), that I would recommend familiarizing with the site's current atmosphere and trying to withhold judgement based upon the site you saw in the past.

The major progress of this thread was a compromise between maintaining a freer atmosphere, but not at the expense of newer or younger members, and certainly without any form of bullying. That's what we hope to work for; if you see anything you feel crosses the line, please feel free to report it to the staff and we'll take care of it.
