OK, I haven't been on here in a LONG time, so I thought I could make my comeback with a little bit of a question type thing so here we go. I am hopefully getting 500 bucks for my birthday, and i am planning on getting a PSP, well a used one for about a hundred bucks at Gamestop, but note this isn't just about getting games for the psp, so anyways with me getting the PSP with the memory card I'll say, I'll have about 360 at minimum because of the fact that i got to get the memory stick. But anyways, I'm looking for suggestions on games to get point blank period, in the RPG genre, I love Final Fantasy and I love Kingdom Hearts, same with the Tales series, the thing is, quit frankly these are the only I've ever really played next to Eternal Sonata and Enchanted arms and a couple of other games. Point being, I need to get into more games. Now the systems I own are the following:
    1.) Xbox 360
    2.) Playstation one 2 and 3
    3.) Gameboy Color and GBA
    4.) Dreamcast
5.) NES, SNES, Nintendo 64 and Gamecube
and now soon to be getting a PSP

I want at least one suggestion for every system, a good variety would be greatly appreciated. So, please give me suggestions, that will probably stay in my price range and that are easy to find online, and at stores. Thank you

1.) FFXII, its great on graphics!
2.) FFX-2, its fast pace fighting and full of originality as all FF games
    3.) KH:COM of course.
    4.) Dreamcast
5.) BBs For PSP Of course! XDD

As you may. THESE ARE THE BASICS TO PLAY.
Other will have more choices of course.

For the SNES? Find Secret of Mana and buy it online. I bought it when stores still carried some extra SNES cartridges. To me, this game is far superior than any Final Fantasy game I have played. That's just me though. Funny thing is, it's technically a spinoff of Final Fantasy.

Chrono Trigger(SNES) and Chrono Cross(PS1) are also highly respected games. I've never played them myself but I don't think I've ever heard any negative reviews about them.

For the PS3...there aren't many games I can think of for some reason except Resonance of Fate. There's mixed reviews about that game but I know of some people who love it. I'd suggest checking that one out.

    For PS2:
Shadows Hearts, Shadow Hearts Covenant and Shadow Hearts From The New World. A trio of great games with tons of funny and awesome bits. The moves are also impressive to look at.

You've pretty much played the rest of what I have on PS3 and other consoles.

    EDIT: Forgot PS1.

Jade Cocoon, old school game. People mistook it for a Pokemon ripoff though even though they're only vaguely alike.
Legend of Dragoon, I've only played the demo and my emulated version didn't work but it was fun.
Any of the Digimon World games. They're on a few consoles after 3.

Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger are a must! Amazing games! Can't recommend them enough (I even have Secret of Mana for the ipod touch!). However, if you don't own a wii or a DS then download an emulator for them. They are expensive games to buy otherwise.

    PS1
Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Final Fantasy VII-IX

    PS2
    Okami, what Fayt said

Pokemon (though I'm assuming you've played at some point), Final Fantasy IV-VI, Legend of Zelda - Link's Awakening (GBC), Metroid II (GBC), Legend of Zelda - Four Swords, Legend of Zelda - Minish Cap
    NES
Legend of Zelda (hard as hell, good luck if you get frustrated easily)

    N64
Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask
While it's not much of an RPG per se, do yourself a favor and get Pokemon Snap.

    GameCube
    Pokemon Collesium
Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess
    Legend of Zelda - Windwaker
    Tales of Symphonia
    Skies of Arcadia : Legends
    Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

    FFVII: Crisis Core
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions (I wasn't really a fan of this, but many others think it's a great game)

You forgot FFVI. Fantastic game that's often overlooked.

I listed it under GBC/A, I'm more familiar with that version and it's probably cheaper, lol.

Also forgot to add FFI and FFII to the PSP list.
And if you can somehow get FFIII on one of those systems (because I know it's been released only for the DS outside of Japan), definitely go for it. It's another of the great but overlooked games.

True true, but at least he has the option.

To go along with Wolfie's Zelda games if you ever find Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages get them! For the GBA Golden Sun 1+2, Astro Boy (It's more of an action side scroller but i don't care). I'd also suggest Fire Emblem if you like your RPG strategy games.

For PS1, Legend of Dragoon, it's a pretty entertaining RPG, with lotsa features and a big story (4CDs long).
And Breath of Fire III. I never liked it, but they say it's a good one.
Suikoden has some nice series too, you might want to check it out.
Also Vagrant Story, which is not so popular, but it is an interesting one to try out.
And another one I am forgetting its name. You might want to check that out too.

Breath of Fire IV has a PC version as well.

Well...most of the good games have been said xD

but i would go with Breath of Fire (you are probably gonna have to get it on an emulator)

buy Final Fantasy's VII-IX for the PS1 or on the PSN for your PSP

honesty i would go for the PSP versions just because its so much easier to have hand held copies of these games.

If you don't have FF XIII i would get it...i love that game to death, the story and the music are amazing. despite what people say i love the game play as well.

FF tactics war of the lions is hard...like...really hard. cant get past the first few places because its so damn hard, and i tried leveling but even that is hard and very long.

Get Star Ocean The First Departure for the PSP its a good game...ive never had the time to get very far but i loved it regardless. one day ill bet it lol

Givin' the games you love, I have to say that Chrono Trigger is a must play. Trust me, you will not regret it.

Also, if you can, get Deus Ex for PC. My favorite PC game, and it doesn't take a fast computer to run it. I run it on my PC I got back in 2002.

    ...and some others:

    PlayStation 3:
Demon Soul's is the top choice here. This game will take a very long time to put down.
Resonance of Fate (Very good in my opinion, has a steep learning curve though)
    Folklore

Don't listen to anyone if they say White Knight Chronicles. It's not a good game at all.

    SNES:
    Earthbound
    Final Fantasy 6
The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past

    Xbox 360:
    The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
    Jade Dynasty
    Fallout 3
    Dragon Age

    Gamecube:
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
    Skies of Arcadia

I would echo The Legend of Dragoon for the PlayStation. It is my all-time favorite game to date.

    For GBA:

    Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword
    Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

Steep learning curve? That's an understatement. It's more like, well keep dying in the first boss ad infinitum until you learn, and even then the game will probably keep owning you for a while after that. Also, I hear Demon's souls is hard too.

    True story. it was horrible bezels everywhar ; ____ ;

Unless you're a really good gamer that has time to sit down and tolerate lots of game overs without rage-quitting...I suggest you keep away from these games.

    Anyhow. Good RPG's?

    PS3

FFXIII---Don't kill me. It's a decent game regardless of all it's glaring flaws. It's also easy to go through if you're short on time and want to just have some decent fun. I recommend it, since it's so short and linear you can probably replay it quite a bit.

NieR--- Not exactly an RPG. It's more similar to Kingdom Hearts, yet far more simplistic in it's battle system. It has party members, and the story is something you won't soon forget. Must have, specially considering the price it's at.

    PS2

Valkyrie Profile 2---A must have game. Though it's best if you play the first one before you get this.

Xenosaga Series--- It has a really nice story, and it can get complex story-wise, but still very good. I'd say try them all, but it's best if you go for the first one and see if you like it.

Odin Sphere---Awesomesauce action RPG. It's got a good story and a diverse cast. Beautiful art style.

P3FES--- It's Persona 3, with added content, so get this version if you want to everything the game has to offer. It's a lovely game.

A personal favorite of mine is Eternal Poison, but it's a really dark and hard to find game, since it's not very in demand. It's strategy, but it may be a good idea to check it out.

    GBA

Riviera: The Promised Land---Great game that has a nice battle system and cute characters.

Ygraa Union---In the same vein as Riviera, just with a darker story-line. It's more strategy, but it fits here.

Golden Sun I & II---Great games for the basic RPG player.

Fire Emblem---There are only two GBA games of these in the US, so either one is good.

FF Remakes---The GBA has lots of these. Classics.

Is Zelda an RPG? I don't think it qualifies as one. But also, do you like Action-RPG's, or Classic RPG's, or Strategy RPG's?

I'm currently staring at my BoF3 dis and seriously contemplating if I should play it again. That game is a childhood favorite of mine.

Breath of Fire 5 (DQ) was decent but you need to be patient as hell to play it. The game was designed to be damn near impossable to beat normally. You need to do a series of resets (basically New Game + from the middle of the game) so by the time you beat it it feels like you just played it two or three times at least.

Not really an RPG but I adored LAIR especially with sixaxis control scheme. But it is a very love it or hate it game, so rent it the first time if you want to look into it.

GBA? Golden Sun and Golden Sun 2. I've only played the first one but I hear they're both great.

No mention of Persona 4 yet? Aw, good to see Chev got Persona 3 though. The Persona games are amazing, some of the most unique RPGs you've ever played and it has a very good uh... "dating sim" aspect, you actually start caring about the characters and what happens to them. Both of these games were some of the best games I had played in years. Both 3 and 4 are for the Ps2

Valkyria Chronicles for the Ps3 is another good one that hasn't been mentioned, the gameplay is a very good combination of strategy and action, very fun to play and it has a good and interesting story.

Other than those most have been mentioned, so I won't go into those games.
