Lyrics are giving out different messages based on artist, not genre, it's basically whatever sound you like better. Some people prefer crap and some people prefer awesomely awesome pop punk. It's a personal choice.

following sentance is exagerated and sarcastic.
More proof that very few people know anything about anything except mainstream. You basicaly just talked about soulja boy vs all of rock. Most rap is infact good, and mainstream rap is only a small percentage of whats out there. And most refferences to guns, drugs, money, and hoes is usualy just a single word involved with something that the artist went through and other times it's not. You have to actualy listen to what is being said because making it rhyme means not always being able to say something clearly and thats where word play, similies, and metaphors come in.

That sounded so very sexual. Too sexual for a kids forum.

I'm sorry to offend you ghetto, but Lil' Wayne is the reason rap is hated on a lot more these days. He is the "face of hip-hop" now a days, and he doesn't have a message behind his music. I'm sorry, but it's like like blues, it's not just enough to know how to do something, you have to know why it has to be done. People like Immortal Technique, and Nas, and Common, all have messages that go deeper than what Lil' Wayne raps about. Besides Lil' Wayne is fake, do the research. No hardcore gangsta drug dealer kisses men, no matter for what reason. Plus there is more to the subject, look it up, dig deep, and you'll see. Rap is not just a show, not who can have the best rhymes, or the best metaphors, it's still poetry.

I know. As much as I like wayne, I know IT, Common, Nas, Lupe, Kanye and people like that are just as good and in IT's case much better. I just like wayne, thats me. Some songs of his have a faint message, but most don't, but I like his lyrics. Thats just me.

Bird man aint his real dad.

I love rock end of story.

Rap is good too but not as good as rock.

    Together it's epic.

I'm to busy to go into details BECAUSE I'm actually working on my own music xD

No it wasn't, Birdman isn't his dad, Lil' wayne lost his dad when he was young, and that's his father figure. But that's not the entire point I make about his fakeness, there is more to it. But on the real, you would kiss your dad on the lips?

Actually, it's his step dad. And...yeah, I used to kiss him on the lips when I was little, embarrassing to say.

I don't know the motivation behind the kiss and no one but the two of them do, I've heard some excuses like "It's a mafia kiss" or some **** like that, but I've never actualy heard wayne talk about it. Wayne being the face of hip hop and me liking him gets me a lot of heat and **** about wanting to be wayne, and anyone who knows me and what I want to do with music knows I like waynes flow and some of his lyrics and punch lines but other wise I'd like to be more like IT. And I've already got my poetic ability coming along nicely B|

There's nothing wrong with kissing a guy if you're a guy, or kissing a girl if you're a girl. But, I'm bisexual, so don't mind me. :L

Shouldn't have brought this up on this forum. Too many people here love rock and hate rap ignorantly. Personally I like both. I think I like rap more somedays, and other days its rock. And no rap isnt all about being ghetto, shooting people, and pimpin' hos. A least not the good rap.

Well Lil' Wayne is a grown man, I know people might say, what's the problem, but seriously, there is line that is drawn on how to show love another man.

I deal with gangsta **** all the time. Not to brag, I hate it, it ****ing sucks that I can't walk to school without worrying about whether or not I'll make it home the same day. Fake people like Wayne disgust me. He probably has no idea what this **** is really like. He got signed to a RECORD DEAL when he was 11. He had it made. But he's ruining hip-hop.

By far one of the best post I've seen on this subject. And I agree with the rap day rock day thing. Most days I listen to more rap, but every know and then I'll take a step back and listen to more rock.

    Too. ****ing. True.

Well, how can you assume that lil Wayne hasn't had such a bad child-hood and is just rapping about what he knows and has lived through? And he's just rapping about what the hell he wants. If he's ruining hip-hop just by doing what he wants to do, then how can you make hip-hop better?

I wouldn't go as far as to say he NEVER experienced any of this stuff, even some of the lesser known rappers sell drugs and do that sort of thing, and wayne wasn't always popular, but I know he exagerates on things and a lot of people do, but one thing I think he doesn't lie about is his drug addictions and abuse. But then again, no one knows for sure. And also, some might argue that one who is secure with his sexuality might not have a problem with kissing his father figure. It kinda depends on the person.

Well that could be right, I'm just making a strong assumption, cause I've known a lot of real people, and a lot of fake people in my life, and there is just a sense, that is usually right, that I have about him.
