Science fiction movies are usually about making metaphors and raising ethical issues, not about being realistic.
Add "American blockbuster" on top of that ... ^^

I am hoping to go see this, the trailer really got my attention when I saw it in the cinema, the story wouldn't have interested me though. I was still a bit confused about the storyline but I like the idea of a human like ape.

I've never watched the first one, in fact I've never really heard of it but I am hoping to go see it, hopefully it'll be good.

my friend watched it a few days ago, and he said that the whole buildup was a bit of a letdown. I guess I've seen worse, from what he's explained. But I still want to see this just for the heck of it

I watched it yesterday. I thought it was really good, I didn't really have any expectations to begin with but I thought the storyline was interesting and a good concept. I thought the movement of the apes was really good and the acting was fabulous. I heard people coming out the cinema saying "That was sooooooo unrealistic!" but I didn't really see it, I don't think ti was meant to BE realistic. I thought for the storyline it was tremendous.

My Mum thought it was good until the end
when the monkeys went on a rampage as they didn't seem to have a motive but I thought they just wanted to be free.

It's also rumoured about a sequel, however I don't think they should or I don't really know what it would be about,
my sister reckoned it would be about the virus of the medicine in humans spreading but I don't really see how that would make a story.

I saw it last week and it was better than I expected.

    About the end
In the rampage, I think they were just trying to get to the forest and fighting to protect themselves. For the most part they didn't kill many people, Ceaser even stopped them killing people. Although, by the way they were treated they had full reason to ranpage and get revenge.

Also I thought the sequeal was simply the original 'Plantet of the Apes'.

I would think that too. This is probably one of those sequals that are actually prequals

I believe in the 1970's there was a movie called Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (or something like that?) which had Caesar in it. I don't think there's been one that actually shows the humans having the virus and everything, but imo that wouldn't really make a great movie in the Planet of the Apes series? Since, well... the movies are about apes? lol

Well it doesn't surprise me that they are changing things up, that's what happens when you make "remakes" and or continuations far after the other installations have been out. (The only exception of the rule is Star Wars, you can't go wrong with Star Wars. It never losses its meaning.)

Anyway, it does look good, i still haven't gotten around to seeing it. However it does peak my interests. I do hope it is well made in terms of story and consistency...

Yeah I totally agree, but I've never even seen the original Planet of the Apes or Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. I just assumed this film was a remake of the original.

I also did like how Caeser had human expressions, it didn't seem very ape like but it sort of connected the two races which I thought was interesting. My sister said she liked it until the end
where Caeser spoke- she said that just seemed silly since he could have spoken before in the movie but didn't (apart from the "NO!"). Although, I thought this was because he had no reason to, he couldn't speak to the other monkeys and he didn't want to talk to the other humans who were trying to kill them.

I thought this was because he only just learnt to speak right at the end, before he could only sign and understand humans. Plus out of the apes he is the cleverest. I think they made him speak for the suprise of how far he's developed and also as the apes in the original 'Planet of the Apes' can speak, if that's to follow on from it then they were trying to show that they learn to speak.

This makes sense, I know that he also inhaled some of that medicine when he gave it to the rest of them which probably made him develop further than the rest. I quite liked the fact he spoke, it made it seem more personal as well and as I said I haven't seen the Planet of the Apes so I had no idea they spoke in that.

    Great movie ^_^
I have to say Rise of the Planet of the Apes is one of the best movies I have seen in a while. It started out a bit slow but picked up pace. The timing where he first spoke was (for me) perfect. I also like how he wouldn't let any of the other monkey's harm the humans starting out. The only thing I didn't like is the big battle that was built up in the trailer's only lasted a few minutes, just long enough for them to make it to the park. But all and all I give it a 9/10.

I haven't seen it yet, but judging from trailers and commercials it looks pretty good. I remember a friend of mine went to see it and someone had a seizure from the movie.

    It was a great movie.
Beautiful CGI, I loved the acting and the story made sense to me until the end. Obvious references to the original and I actually liked the concept of a virus destroying earths human population. Like others said, the apes had no intention in killing (except for the scarred one, I thought he was the bad guy in the original but I forgot) and this was a good way of still making it a planet of the apes.

I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes about a month ago, and I thought it was excellent. The CGI was unbelievable and really well done, plus the storyline seemed pretty well put together. Really made you feel for the characters, even the apes!
