Yeah, ever here of the Television show Goof Troop? The show revolved around Goofy and his son, Max, living in the suburbs. They did have a cat too, forget the things name.

His nextdoor neigbor was Pete. Pete lived with his son PJ (Pete Jr.), his wife Peg, his daughter Pistol, and thier dog Chainsaw.

The movie "A Goofy Movie" and "A Really Goofy Movie" were both spinoffs of the TV show.

I dont know why Goofy only got a son and a cat, but Pete got a whole family complete with Dog.

Anyway, the show came out in the 90's, I used to watch it all the time when I was 10.

I feel really old now... you kids were probably 3 or 4 then... *sigh, goes off to weep about how old he is...*

    Interlude 3 done!!!

Again, big thanks to my beta.

I sooo wanted to put PWNED at the end...

    Interlude 3: Pawns

As the Organization reconvenes in the audience chamber once more, deep within The World That Never Was, one figure arrives notably late. Again, all the chairs were occupied in the start of another meeting, leaving the third, the eighth, the thirteenth, and most ominously, the first chair empty.

"Awe, what made you decide to show up, chump?" the elder asked of the the new arrival in the lowest chair.

The lowly one in the eleventh seat, in which the question was directed at, answered, just as calm as ever, "I had business to finish off. I was taking care of work you're too lazy to do yourself, remember?"

The hint of sarcasm wasn't missed in the ever tone of self-confidence, however low.

"You think you can talk big, huh?" the elder inquired of him blankly, peering over at him diligently, and stating condescendingly, "Just 'cause Dilan's out doesn't mean you get a promotion."

The man in the lower chair bit his lip. He wanted to lash out, but this wasn’t the time, or place.

"Maybe it does…" a younger man in the sixth chair mumbled. He spoke with just enough effort, so that only those in the higher chairs could hear him. A large man in the fifth chair tilted his head to the side, showing his curiosity, and encouraging the youth to continue.

But the younger man just smile secretly to himself, closing his eyes, knowing that he knew more than the others, the greater edge he had. Knowledge is power in this game.

I need to let them know I know something, but without letting them know what.

The elder in the highest chair leaned forward to speak, only to be interrupted by the man in the seventh chair, who ignored the conversation that has just transpired and went to speak to the new arrival monotonously, "Are you going to tell us what happened?"

The elder clenched his fist at the assertiveness of the man in the lower chair, as he was speaking out of turn. Unsurprisingly.

"They resisted the Blackhearts," the eleventh man responded, looking up at the older man in the highest chair, as if he was the one who asked him.

The said man shook his head. "I thought I told you that direct attacks were too aggressive for them. You know how strong they can be."

The lone woman in the twelfth chair seemed to turn away, not paying any attention to the man being scolded like a child. The female sat only slightly higher than number eleven did, even though her chair was in the next sequential order. There wasn't a reason to say anything. Of course not, how did defending him benefit her?

The male in the eleventh chair closed his hand into a fist, and pounded it on the armrest of his throne like seat, not at all appreciative of being spoken to in that way. "I only did what came natural to me. They were played into my hand, I'll handle it my way."

"Just like in Castle Oblivion?" a man with a cold voice inquired, interrogatingly. He folded his arms, letting out a one of his usual creepy laughs, proud of himself that he made a good point as he sat in the fourth chair.

The eleventh just looked at him, almost unimpressively. "Need I remind you of your pathetic attempts and failure..."

The laughing stopped abruptly in a choke.

"And that was different…" he continued on after he silenced the impudent member, looking down, as if unwilling to face his Superiors. He then continued with his original train of thought, "Now in this case, I gave them their little trinket, and sent them on their way. I didn't think that fat fool was smart enough too outwit them though. And Roxas seems to be quite his old self."

The man in the highest chair leaned forward to speak again, and once more was interrupted, this time, by the larger man in the fifth chair. "Where are they now?"

The eleventh man answered indirectly, once again speaking in riddles. "I know that fool and his witch have been toying around with a few worlds. One of which can even neutralize our powers."

The man in the tenth chair, which was seated slightly higher than it was last time, gave his two cents. "Well, venturing there seems like quite a gamble. I'd be willing to bet that that's their new staging ground. Maleficent has been gathering Heartless faster than we can take them from her. If she wanted to build herself a citadel impenetrable to our powers, a place like that would be ideal." Other than speaking very elegantly, he then turned his attention back to a deck of cards he was holding after all he said, fanning them out, and folding them back unto a stack. He appeared quite comfortable where he was.

The man in the fourth chair spoke up after finishing glowering at chair eleven, almost whining, "I don't know why I have to wait for them to finish their jobs. I've been waiting… my experiment is ready, there is no way it can fail. I want to see this play out, yet your incompetence has me being delayed in testing anything."

He sat up, as if he could not help, but to speak up again.

The elder pointed down at the man, "Shut up. You'll get your turn, always impatient." The old coot in the fourth chair crossed his arms in frustration, though the elder already focused his concentration back to the man in the lower chair. "You caused the problem, now go fix it. Play them into Even's experiment. You pull this one off and who knows, you might even get to sit higher than Edym without me kicking your-"

"Hey! That's not right! Don't you think I get enough, already?" a young male in a lower chair cried out, almost offended.

"Well, squirt, I was just saying, you like sitting down there…" he pointed out, but he rolled his eyes. Now even the office Organization's peon was talking back to him too.

The dubbed Edym just sat back down into his chair, lowering his head like a puppy that just got scolded. He avoided eye contact with the older male sitting in the higher chair.

Trying to get the subject back on track, the man in the seventh chair spoke out again, his gold eyes blaring at the scythe wielding man. "You heard him, go fix what you broke."

The figure hesitated, was the seventh able to give the authority to excuse him? He turned back to the man in the tallest occupied chair, as if to see what he says, though the feeling of being ordered still irritated him somewhat.

The elder in the tallest seat just leaned back in his chair, and waved off his hand as a sign that he was allowed. The reaction was quite quick, as a dark portal consumed him, and with few black wisps, he was gone, off into another world, and the eleventh chair was now unoccupied.

The woman laughed slightly to herself. Looks like he got himself into another jam… and this time I'm not going to back him up. I ain't going to gain anything by risking my neck for him so far.

    Or so she thought.

The young man in sixth chair spoke directly to her. "You go with him, I think this is too much for him to handle alone."

All of a sudden, she was at full attention, scowling at him. "What? But why? He screwed this one up, not me!"

"Because, they don't trust him, but as you bragged earlier, they trusted you. Sometimes it's best to keep things under your hood, remember?"

She was about to protest even more, though she blinked as she heard his last words, wondering momentarily how he knew of that phrase, since it was only her and Axel in the room that time. Of course, that only reminded her of how gullible she was, falling into his hands and giving a bit too much away...how foolish she was. Somehow, she wished that for all the times she touched him, it would be replaced by ripping a piece of his flesh instead of caressing it. Not that she couldn't do that now, but that would be out of character at the 'Larxene' they now trusted.

Heh. Trust. What a fragile thing.

This might be fun, after all. "Oh, alright. But don't get mad if they don't come back in one piece, okay?"

Her voice sounded as if it was joking, but anyone who knew her would clearly know she wasn't.

With a dark wisp, a portal then engulfed her, and she disappeared as well.

The elder man later looked down at the others who made him look like a fool. First, he turned his attention to the teen, the youngest of the Organization as of now, who sent the two traitors off onto a mission together. "What the hell was that?"

"What? You didn't think I would risk my life for a couple of traitors, did you?"

"No, not that. Why did you send her? If they are settin' us up again, this would be there perfect chance."

The sixth just stared at him nonchalantly. "Well, I don't think they are going to make it back. Now we can 'accidentally' eliminate four traitors with one stroke."

The man in the seventh chair disrupted the one on one discussion. "Braig, how is the experiment on our little gift going? I am so eager to see what happened."

Braig snapped back, as if he brought up a sensitive subject, "That isn't your business, so I suggest you don't question what isn't yours to know."

The man in the tenth chair dropped and fumbled his stack of cards, as if something key had just went on. The young man in the ninth chair also perked up, ardent too see what would happen.

Even though shadow covered over the upper part of his face, it could be seen that the man in the seventh chair was smirking with delight, the glow of his yellow eyes apparent now more than ever. He then resumed to probe the situation, "Tell me, why do we have her as an experiment?"

Braig appeared reluctant, looking at the lower Organization members, wondering how much they knew, before explaining, "We're still working, we will tell you what happens when we are done."

His posture was enough to tell them they weren't to get anymore than that.

However, the seventh had yet to yield. "And the Keyblade Masters? Are we done with them yet?"

    Braig jolted. "Aren't they dead?"

The one in the ninth chair jumped up, finally being able to contribute something. "No, they're alive!"

Braig turned his attention back down to Edym in interest, "What? How do you know?"

He looked around the room… as if waiting for someone else to speak up for him. But once none came, he told, a bit hesitantly, "Uh…because the Heartless wall we put up was taken down. Yeah, I saw it was wiped out. That's how I know."

He fidgeted a little, as if what he was saying wasn't entirely truhtful. Not that it was needed to figure it out. His story was not liable enough, if at all.

The one in the tenth chair spoke up directly at him, "Perhaps I should teach you how to play the game… your tell is just awful."

Not caring for what was going at the moment, the one in the fourth chair had yet more to say. "I still want to see my experiment work."

Braig sighed tiredly, shoulders tensed in frustration, "Even? Shut. Up."

The male drooped his head in bitter defeat. "Oh, fine..."

Not really hard... you know all the numerical ranks of the org right? They are all wearing thier hoods at this point, so it would be hard to tell if you watch it on a video as well.

    Xemnas 1 (not there)
Xigbar 2, often described as old, or elder.
Xaldin 3 (not there this time, on vacation, remember)
Vexen 4, often destribed as cold... has an insane laugh... whines sometimes
    Lexa 5, big guy
Zexion 6, the only teen there (Roxas is out)
Saix 7, calm voice. Sometime monotone.
    Axel 8 (not there)
    Demyx 9, whiny voice
Luxord 10, hes holding a stack of cards, speaks elegantly
Marluxia 11, sits in the lowest occupied chair
Larxene 12, only girl, so she is the only "she"
    Roxas 13 (not there)

Most of the dialoge is between Xigbar and Marluxia, until Marluxia leaves

    Did that help you?

Edit: Ack... I just noticed Xaldin is not there, I fixed the into.

    Your welcome.

    Chapter 10: Duel Of A Dragon's Wind

As the three walked deeper into the castle, located at the heart of the Radiant Garden, they continued talking. The man had no choice, but to get to know the two teens who were traveling with him, as they seemed to be his only way of navigating within. Might as well strike some type of conversation.

As they were walking together, Sora couldn't help, but feel the man called Kain, reminded him of Cid, the Gummi Ship maker. As weird as that was. Looking at their new companion, he went to ask lightly, "So, Kain, why do you need to speak with Dilan anyway?"

He had asked the question earlier, but decided that now he might be more inclined to answer.

"That's none of your business," he suddenly snapped low, making Sora's eyes widen. He frowned at that...just as soon as the enigma of a man began to warm up to them, he shuts them down.

Kain realized how rude his curt reply was to the teen, and he looked away, thinking of what he should say next. He decided to keep speaking in order to ease the situation. "So, why are you kids looking for him? Is he a friend of yours?"

Sora folded his arms, expressing disbelieve, anger, and disgust, remembering back on Xaldin in Beast's Castle, "No way! He tried to hurt my friends, and now he took my best friend Kairi...." His tone now seemed to turned softer as he got upset, as if the mention of her affected everything else. "Kairi to who knows where. I just want to see why and get her back."

Riku cleared his throat with a small smirk, then corrected Sora, a bit amused, "Our best friend, Kairi, you mean? Don't you?"

Sora blushed a moment, realizing how rude it was not to mention Riku. "Y-yeah, our friend. Sorry."

Kain kept looking forward, sauntering down the silent passageway that brought them more into the building's depths, "Good to know…can you hold your own in a fight? Dilan might not be too happy to see us."

Sora, never missing a chance to boast, definitely went for the chance that presented itself, "Of course, you mean you never heard of Keyblade warriors?"

He answered casually, "No, should I have?"

"Awe well, you don't know what you're missing out on! I'm a wielder of a very important weapon, and a suppose powerful one at that, called the Keyblade, is what you saw me use on the lift. Of course, I don't know most of its mysteries, but it has helped a lot, and I've defeated many...though is more because I truly had no choice...but that's based more on skills, wouldn't you think?" Sora explained excitedly, smiling like he was a chump as he placed his hands on his hips proudly. "A blade is only as good as its wielder, isn't it?"

Riku rolled his eyes, Sora's bragging was starting to get annoying again, so he decided to change the subject, and to investigate the man further, "So, how about you? Can you fight?"

The man chuckled, as if Riku asked a stupid question. "You mean to tell me, you haven't heard the legend of the Dragoons of Baron?"

His answer was almost sarcastic, and Riku and Sora just stared blankly at the man, obviously not knowing anything about these "Dragoons Of Baron". However, Sora jumped up as what he said registered in his mind, as though a light bulb flashed in his head. He turned to Riku, "Hey, isn't that the name of those Nobodies? The one Xaldin, uh, er… Dilan commands. The Dragoons? I thought I heard him call them that..."

Riku shrugged, not exactly being there in that battle.

But Kain stopped, as if that mention affected him, and the others halted too automatically.

Riku was the one to ask, "Hey, what's wrong?"

"What do you mean, he commanded Dragoons? And what's a Nobody? And who's Xaldin? I've had not gone to understand any of this precisely," he questioned tensely, almost as if he was holding back some sort of rage.

Sora and Riku looked at each other, not sure of how to explain it in the most simple way. Might as well give it a try though, now that the man was in the situation where he would have to battle them, and Sora began saying, "As I've been told, when someone gets taken by the darkness, or if someone loses their heart, that heart turns into a Heartless....is those black creatures that pop up from time to time, if you've seen them. And, um...what remains, the body and soul, turn into what is called a Nobody, a being without a heart and unable to feel emotions because of it. Those are the white ones you see, the ones who appear like creatures too...yet...those are the lower Nobodies, called Dusks, the weaker ones, you might say...there's a different kind though..." He took a breath there, trying to remember and explain it as best he could. "According to Yensid, a person who has a very strong will and a very strong heart in the process...can contain human form. A group of those formed the Organization, to get their hearts back....and Xaldin was in it....Xaldin is apparently what Dilan called himself when he was a Nobody?"

"And Dilan leads them?" Kain questioned, getting all this information in, and finally understanding. Both Sora and Riku could see his jaw and throat tightening, like he kept back some sort of anger, but they couldn't fathom why.

Riku looked at Sora, shrugging his shoulders. How could this guy not know what was going on all along?

Sora kept explaining, for one last time, "No, not all of them, but he seemed to control the ones called 'Dragoons'. I think those are lower Nobodies too...but they took after him and were at his command or something. They were stronger than Dusks too...is only what I saw..."

Then this is worse than I thought, Kain pondered in his mind, heading ever deeper into the hallways of this castle, not saying another word.

The three kept continuing on without anymore discussion, and it wasn't until they reached the throne room that they finally ended their journey. It brought back memories for Sora, the time he had to fight Maleficent, the witch. How she almost beat Donald, Goofy, and himself...

Then, as their eyes adjusted to the dark lighting in the room, they could see a man dressed in a black trench coat, sitting on a dark throne, as if arrogantly waiting for them all along. His hood was down, revealing he had dreadlocks, pulled back into a tail, but instead of it being raven colored, it was a dark brown now.

"Well, Kain, I am glad you decided to show up…I see you met the Keyblade wielders on your way."

Sora and Riku both drew forth their respective Keyblades in alarm, Kingdom Key and Way To Dawn, and assumed their fighting stances. Kain on the other hand, just answered simply, "What is the meaning of this game, Dilan?"

"Game? Who said this was a game? I'm settling something we started long ago," Dilan replied enigmatically, staring down at the man before him.

Sora spoke out angrily, ignoring the conversation going on, "Tell me, why did you take Kairi?! Where is she?!"

Dilan laughed at the child's assertion, getting up from his chair. "Why should I tell you…I have no interest in speaking with the dead." Almost as if ominously following that word, the very aura of the room seemed to darken.

A whirlwind surrounded Dilan, blowing his hair and billowing his cloak about in a frenzy, as though that very force of nature bowed to his power and gained him strength.

Six cyclones abruptly enclosed him…and with a flash of thunder and lightning, and the howl of winds, he summoned his all too familiar metallic blue lances. They floated in a circle around him, until he grabbed three, two of which he held loosely in his right hand, while one grasped tightly with his left. The other three seemed to wrap around him, as though they had the intelligence to guard him, and it ended with a sound like metal clashing.

Sora remembered the trial he endured last time they met, and responded by grasping his Keyblade tightly. Riku sensed Sora's tension, and responded by bracing himself for the encroaching tempest, as he had never fought Dilan before.

With a strong blast of wind, Sora and Riku were knocked back from the force. The dragon like knight, however, stood unflinching.

Dilan just smiled. "What's wrong, Kain, are you not going to fight back?"

"You used to bear the honor of a Dragoon, Dilan…you've fallen far. You have fallen into the darkness. It pains me to see you like this, you remind me of what I used to be..."

"Do not lecture me, Kain. You are just a servant of your master, same as I am."

"Is that why you brought me here? In servitude of your master?"

"No, I brought you here for my pleasure!" Dilan exclaimed triumphantly. He then held out his left hand, and as if obeying their master, three of the lances thrust forth towards Kain as they slashed across.

Kain responded by leaping into the air, blindingly fast. He then perched himself on the ceiling, pulled the unknown object from off his back, then kicked off the roof, holding the pole like object forward, still wrapped in its white cloth. Sora and Riku were surprised at how mobile the knight was. Common sense would tell you that with all that armor, he would be weighted down, but to their best guess, it was training.

The one dressed in black responded by releasing the two lances in his right hand, and placing them in the direction of his opponent.

Sora and Riku both at once knew his attention was focused on Kain attacking from overhead, and hey took advantage of his lapse of defense. They ran towards Dilan, past the three lances which still remained suspended in the air from the attack on the knight, and went to charge.

Dilan looked back at them, and blocked their attacks with the one weapon he still held in his left.

The pole like object Kain attacked Dilan with grazed him, across the chest, and planted itself into the ground.

Holding back the two Keyblade masters, and trying to fend off Kain at point blank range was too close a call for him, especially if the three warriors were strong in their own right. So, he simply summoned his free floating lances back to their original positions, and Kain leaped back evasively, in order to dodge the defensive action, which very well could have been deadly.

Sora and Riku jumped back, as they knew better than to engage him directly with all six lances surrounding him.

Kain, kept speaking to Dilan, as if trying to reason with a long lost friend. "Why Dilan, why couldn't you leave us alone? After all these years, why now?"

Dilan let out a dark and sadistic smile. "The reason is quite simple Kain…I can finally enjoy watching your downfall."

Kain grasped the unknown item, wrapped in the usual white cloth tightly. "It doesn't have to be this way, Dilan. If I reason with him, Im sure the King would allow you back."

"You're wrong, Kain, it does have to be this way. There is only one way to end it. You yourself said that I 'had fallen far into the darkness', I'm not the same as I used to be. So, why should I return?"

Kain looked down momentarily, as if contemplating the situation. He then looked up at his opponent, whispering slightly to himself words that no one could hear, "If there was any other way…" He then began to unwrap the artifact that he carried with him all along. It revealed a lance, but a very different one. It glowed brightly, especially within the darkness of the caverns of the castle. "I was afraid that there would be only one way to purge your darkness, Dilan. Forgive me…"

Dilan's eyes widened upon seeing what Kain had taken out. "You brought it?" Yet, his eyes narrowed once again, showing his arrogant confidence, "Very well, this shall make it all the more entertaining"

As if responding to his calls, five of the six blue lances planted themselves between the two lance wielding warriors and the Keyblade masters, separating them, leaving Kain to face Dilan alone.

Riku and Sora started to leap forward, as if to intervene, but Kain held up his right hand, holding them back. "Sora, Riku…this is between me and him, I must be the one to put an end to this."

Sora yelled out concerned, "Kain no! He could hurt you. I fought him before, he's really strong!"

Riku put his hand on Sora's shoulder, his eyes looking onward to them. "Let him settle this, it's his fight now."

With a breath, the brown haired teen relented, and had to deal with watching.

The two lance wielders both grasped their lances within their left hands as they prepared. Kain crouched down, his muscles tightening, as if prepared to leap through the air once more, without a moment's notice. He had the left side of his body back, and his lance horizontal, prepared to strike.

Dilan, conversely, stood erect, with his left hand forward as it held the weapon, but taken low within a passive manner. There was no doubt he was confident. Despite this, he took the initiative in the fight, holding up his right hand, allowing the wind to tighten around it, until it formed a tightly packed orb. He then threw it towards the dragoon, and Kain braced himself, grasping his lance tightly to block it.

In a loud bang of wind as he defended, his feet slipped back because of the sheer force of the attack, yet the orb gradually shrunk, until it was finally gone into nothingness.

Dilan then levitated, hovering towards his opponent.

Kain responded by jumping quickly, and once again kicked off the ceiling, pointing his lance downwards. Dilan blocked the attack with his own lance, but the recoil forced him back unto the ground, however, it didn't stop the other in a pause. Kain, who ricochet of Dilan's block, jumped towards the wall, and with another leap lunged straight towards Dilan in a repeated move.

Dilan still delineated the attack, but this time, the Keyblade masters noticed that Kain's lance was glowing brighter, as though Kain's very soul was empowering the weapon. Dilan stumbled back in with the tremor of the massive impact, yet didn't get fazed as he composed himself. Kain now stood where Dilan once was, and pressed the charge by foot, thrusting the the lance towards his opponent's face, and Dilan parried the weapon which narrowly missed his head.

Sora and Riku could tell at this point that Kain was much stronger than either of them had anticipated, and even Dilan seemed to yield to his power somewhat.

However, the Organization XIII member, as if harboring Sora and Riku's thoughts, summoned the other five lances which up until this point had remained dormant. Sora went to step forward, to equalize the advantage of the number of weapons, but Riku once again grabbed his shoulder, holding him back. Sora turned back to Riku in a snap, and exclaimed, "But, Kain can't defend all of those lances at the same time!"

The platinum haired teen reasoned with his friend, "It's still a duel, those are part of him. It's still his power."

Sora looked back to the two, almost feeling helpless, knowing it would not be honorable to interfere with what seemed to be a personal fight.

Kain was now on the defensive, parrying lances from all angles, overhead, in front, behind, and from each side. The man in the trench coat appeared to enjoy Kain's struggle, as he just stood there upright, allowing his lances to do his bidding. One of them finally connected with its target, cutting into the dragon knights thigh.

    Kain fell to one knee.

The lances all seemed to return to Dilan then, all except for the one that had succeeded a hit…it was hovering only inches from Kain's face, the point aimed right between his eyes...a drop of blood dripped down from the very tip.

Dilan held out his right hand opened, with a expression that could be mistaken as....solemn? "There is no thrill in this…time to finish it." The lance wound itself up for the killing blow.

As it thrust itself forward for the death blow, Kain bounced into the air, one last time, as the lance buried itself into the stone floor where Kain would've met his end. The Organization member gripped up his five lances in retaliation, waiting for the Dragoon to come down unto them.

He was going to let Kain impale himself on his way down.

Yet, the young knight then extended his hand and let the lance extend to its full length. Kain's longer lance connected first, the weapon managing to dig into Dilan's skin, and the blow made the other lances disappear instantly from the agony their wielder was feeling.

The Dragoon pulled his lance out of his target, and Dilan cried out in pain. Yet with all that, he was still standing as a dark wind was released around his body, his eyes just blaring into the knight before him, as if wanting to say something, but not willing to. It wasn't long after that the wind wiped away, and took all of Dilan that existed permanently.

Kain simply looked down, a ache dwindling inside him in a tight grip, unable to bear the death that he had just caused. It was a close call, and he was a great warrior...why did things had to happen this way?

Sora and Riku ran towards the victor of the match right away, unaware of the knight's inward pain, the younger teen of the two boys speaking out first, like usual, "Wow! I didn't know you could fight like that! That was awesome!"

Kain seemed to despise Sora's words begrudgingly. "Awesome? You think killing someone is awesome'?"

Sora's smile seemed to dim at the words, fully disappearing, as he noted the seriousness of the situation, and felt ashamed...he was cheering over the death of someone, good or evil. It was still... "Oh, I-I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention...he really was a friend of yours, huh?"

Kain limped over to the white cloth he cast aside, and once again wrapped his weapon with it. One end of the cloth turned a deep crimson color, as he whispered to himself again, "If there was only another way…" He turned back to the two teens. "Do not enjoy killing… otherwise you could end up like us."

He said this as he looked over the spot where Dilan made his final stand.

"Us?" Sora asked, a bit confused.

"I never was always on the right side..." was what Kain responded with.

Riku could relate to that line. He remembered all the heartache he caused for Sora, Kairi, the worlds, himself....

Kain limped over to the edge of the balcony outside, just above the Great Crest. Riku called out, a question on his mind as he noticed he was about to leave, "Hey, how did you know the lances would disappear once you hit him?"

Kain answered without looking back, "I didn't."

Riku questioned further, "Then why did you attack like that?"

Kain answered once again, "I knew if he was out of the way, the Keyblade masters would make sure everything was okay." He sent them a smirk as he squatted down, appearing about to leap off.

"Wait!" Sora shouted, and Kain looked back over his shoulder. The brown haired boy soften his eyes as he stared at him. "Where are you going?"

Kain found it amusing that the two teens were concerned about him, yet it was quite flattering...to meet such people as them. "I'm going to find my King, he's probably wondering what happened."

With that said, not waiting anymore, he truly did jump, his figure getting farther away until he was out of sight.

Riku turned to Sora after the dismissal, as if Kain's words reminded him of something as well, "Hey, that's it, we need to find the King. He knows more than we do....I know this. In fact, he might already be aware of what's happening. " The idea though was dislodged as he thought over the fact that they were stuck here, and he couldn't use the portal of darkness any longer after The World That Never Was. "How do we get off this world?"

Sora contemplated that for a moment, before suddenly realizing where he was. "Oh yeah! If we get out of this castle and head back to town, we could get a Gummi Ship!" He was thinking of Cid, the Gummi Ship master. If anything, they could get one from him.

Riku scratched his head, a bit uncertain, knowing what it was as he had sometimes followed Sora's tracks back when he was fighting the Organization members. He wasn't truly impressed by the machine. "That thing you always traveled in?"

Sora crossed his arms, as if offended. "What's suppose to mean?" Riku just gave a small chuckle, shaking his head and shrugging as if nothing, and Sora rolled his eyes good naturedly. "The point is, it can fly us between worlds, and we need that right now, don't we?"

Riku just agreed, waving a nonchalant hand. "Alright, then. Let's get going. Shall we?"

Sora laughed, as he slung a arm over Riku's shoulder lazily, yet in a brotherly manner, and despite Donald and Goofy not with him, he was glad that he was having a journey with best friend by his side.

    "We shall."

Its been a while since my last chapter... sorry. I've been doing a lot of thing and neglecting my story.

Again, TwilightNight did the betaing. Its a short chapter, but it foreshadows a lot...

    Interlude 4: Kings

In three throne like chairs, that were set up in the shape of a triangle, sat a trio of hidden dark figures, all looking at a diamond shaped crystal placed in the center...which was the only source of light that graced the room. Within it, a flash of Dilan's demise played out, with the Dragoon defeating him in a heroic duel.

One of them spoke up. "I don't understand why did you do that? He could have been a valuable asset to us, but now, he's useless. With a little manipulation, he could have been easy to turn to our side."

His choice of outfit was a dark armor, and he spoke with a somewhat distorted tone, the mask on his face muffling his voice, making it echo slightly.

But that wasn't the only reason his tone was distorted, not at all...it was almost as if he was inhuman, attempting to sound human. It was rather subtle, and those less observant would have missed the strange "accent" he had.

Another dark figure went to speak with a maniacal laughter, almost as if Dilan dyeing was the funniest joke he had ever seen. "It's not like we killed him. His death was caused by his own thirst for revenge. The Keyblade buffoons were only there as our insurance policy. He would have died anyways. Don't let your conscious get the better of you, it's not befitting of someone named 'Death' now."

He leaned back lengthwise in his chair, with his back and his knees on one armrest each.

The armored form snapped at him, "I suppose a clown is in a position to lecture me?"

The "clown" snapped back, "So what if I am in a position to lecture you? He did his job, now you do yours, you overgrown stump!" Upon saying the words, he pointed at the third and final silhouette that was with them, whom up until this point remained silent.

The armored figure seemed to sigh. "Very well, I'll do my part. Make sure you do yours, clown." He then began portalling away, but it was different from the norm you will see in powers of darknes, like Organization XIII, or Riku, in the days when he was a denizen of the dark, due to Xehanort's haunting remnants inside him. Instead of ripples of darkness consuming him, as per usual, a black orb encircled him, and it appeared as if lightning flashed from outside, only for the orb to implode, leaving no trace of the armored man at all.

The 'clown' which taunted him, just laughed maniacally.

"Don't you have a job to do as well?" the mysterious third figure finally spoke up, enunciating his words slowly, as if his voice commanded the respect to listen to him carefully.

"Okay, fine, I was just having a little fun, don't you remember what that is?" He paused momentarily, waiting for an answer. "Guess not…"

With a flash of light, the 'clown' was gone.
