So yeah, I recently decided to restart Teilight Princess, and when I put the disc into my Wii, it worked just fine, until the point when you go back to your home after speaking to Ilia. It says: "Game Disc could not be read, please see Wii operations manual for help." Thinking it was a derp, I rebooted the Wii, and moved to my other file. Again, just fine, until I enter Ganon's room in Hyrule Castle. It says: "Error. Please remove the Game Disc and turn the power OFF." I pulled it out, thinking it was scratched, and it was, but it's just a huge circle that's around the edge. I've wanted to clean it, but I'm unsure how as I fear what I do could make it worse. Help?
http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Scratched-CD You should just clean your cd and run the game again before you try any of this though. My gamecube has acted all wonky in certain areas of certain games for no apparent reason in the past. Even after cleaning the (apparently unscratched) cds there was, say, a 33% chance for certain rooms to crash the game. Never happened to me with TP though, if memory serves it was with Metroid Prime 1&2 and Resident Evil 0&1. Thankfully TP allows you to save pretty much as often as you wish. Good luck ! ^^
Okay. Then, yeah, do that. I usually just rinse mine off with water and rub them gently where the smudge or scratch is and then gently dry them with the shirt I'm wearing.
This happened with my FF4 complete collection and i could not fix it. Then again it's a UMD so that would automatically make it more difficult. I ended up getting an entirely new copy.
Hmm, it might also be your Nintendo Wii's problem. I was playing Wind Waker last summer and it also kept saying that the disc could not be read after entering certain dungeons. And just recently, we tried playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the disc could not be read randomly during matches. There are a few scratches on the disc but they are too miniscule to do any actual damage. It could depend on how long you've had your Wii and/or the games you own. Maybe if you tried playing other games on the Wii just to test if it could be having errors due to just only having a scratched disc or not? Otherwise, I'm pretty sure if you needed to buy a new copy, Twilight Princess should be pretty cheap to get or trade.
It actually most likely is just TP then, because all my other games are working just fine c: I'll keep trying though, for sure.
Sounds like laser burn, but I dont think the Wii uses the same thing as the xbox so it shouldn't happen, I dunno much about the hardware but those circles sound like laser burn, which is fatal.
I don't have any clue if the Wii's laser reader is like the 360's, but if it was, it usually only happen when the console is moved during play, which makes the laser etch a little scratch in the disk, causing a radial burn, which would in turn, make most of the contents in the game, unreadable by the system. Say like... not being able to play a specific map on a FPS game, or enter a dungeon on a RPG game. Ect.
