Kingdom Hearts II Riku's weapon

i noticed something, when Riku was fighting Roxas in those cutscenes, did anyone notice that he didn't draw out his Soul Eater for some reason? it didn't seem like Riku simply didn't decide to use it but it almost seemed like he COULDN'T for some reason.

 

It was probabley that the weapon had a LOT of darkness in it, and Riku was trying to seperate himself himself from darkness.

 

if he wanted to avoid the darkness,then why would he later go and turn into riku/ansem

and yes evilman,i did think that strange on why he didn't use soul eater,it was almost like he know roxas was going to give him one of his keyblade's

 

maybe because Riku took it too easy at first but realised even with the soul eater, it wouldn't be enough...?

 

He probably did it so that he could take one of Roxas's keyblades, so it would be a more fair fight.

 

Yeah either way, Riku had to beat Roxas.

 

it seemed like Roxas knew about this too which is probably why he gave Riku one of his blades?

maybe riku didnt have a weapon to summon. he could use darkness, but that was it.

have u noticed all throughout kh2 riku had only used soul eater in his rikunort form?

he might not have obtained Way to the dawn yet. And I bet "souleater" distanced itself from riku because its a heartless weapon (xehanort's heartless') and way to the dawn is a keyblade...which kills heartless...his heart might have been all screwed up over that fact, so he might have had an in-between time of where he had no weapon.

either that, or riku had no memories of getting it...this is a long stretch, and probably untrue, but remember when DiZ asks about Riku's memories and riku replies, "its getting less fuzzy now..."

I think roxas handed riku his weapon (noticeably oblivion) because it represents riku. thats why he had it in the first place. even though roxas had no memories of his previous life he remember kairi and riku...maybe he didnt "know" about riku's condition, but was inclined to give it to him.

 

Actually I'm pretty sure Riku could have used Soul Eater had he wanted to but he chose not to because he was not out to seriously injure Roxas. If you look at how Riku was in the fight, he was not trying to harm him while Roxas was going at him full bore. Finally he had to knock him out cold, and then he gave Oblivion back. He only used the Ansem form because he didn't want to keep fighting with Roxas so severely and he needed him to not be extremely injured or else it was going to take longer.

Riku did hold back and I think he figured that if Roxas was going to try to throw the Keyblade at him, he may as well use it to keep Roxas with one weapon. Roxas was an intense combatant and very aggressive. Taking it meant it would make the fight balanced more. It was a tactical choice to make things more in the level where Riku wouldn't have to do something erratic. I'm pretty sure that's the reason over that he had a problem using Soul Eater. He had no problems using Soul Eater in CoM or throughout KH2 other places, including when he was back to normal and still calling Way to the Dawn as Soul Eater.

 

Oh...oh...oh. Wouldn't that be that shiznit if Riku had Oblivion AND soul eater?

 

That would have kicked butt.

 

i don't know, that doesn't really explain why Roxas would actually give it to him, if i were Roxas i would've expected him to pull out his own weapon.

 

i don't know if you guys have seen this yet but in this vid of deep dive it shows riku with one of roxas keyblade's while roxas still has two in his hand,i don't know if that is a blooper or not but here is th link and yes,it would freaking sweet if riku dual wielded oblivion and soul earter

Okay... this may sound stupid, but maybe he never thought of using it because Roxas threw him one of his keyblades. So basically, he already had a weapon to fight with. It still makes you wonder though why he didn't summon it, because Roxas took the keyblade back. Now I just got myself confuzzled! :(

 

It's ugh...Kingdom Key that's right. They probably did that to show that Roxas can also weild Kingdom Key in 358/2 days (which from scans we see he already can), before time.

 

He probably didn't want to mess up his blade.

 

Well, first they used the keyblades in order to beat the heartless surrounding them. Then they proceeded to fight. I'm pretty sure that Riku really didn't bother to give it back since they were going to fight anyway, might as well try to even it out with them both having a keyblade to use.

 

personally i think that riku's weapon is awesome
it'll be cool he he dual- weilded that one and oblivion

 

riku was trying to stay away from the darkness, and soul eater was made from rikus darkness so it would make sense that summoning it would 'Rely' on the darkness.
