    Kingdom Hearts: Riku's Redemtion

After Kingdom Hearts 2, Kairi, Sora, and Riku got a letter from the king, who requested that they should come to his castle because of something he had found out. When they went there, he was grim, but told them that he had to say it to each of them seperately. The first to go inside was Sora, who had a grim but determined look on his face when he left. The second was Kairi, who was told that because of what had happened to Riku and because Xsanort’s heartless had pushed both darkness and light in his heart out of balance. Because of this, he would go from the dark side, back to light then back to dark and so on. She emerged crying.
The last to go inside to talk to Mickey was Riku. Sora and Kairi heard a crash and when they went in, the only found King Mickey shaking his head and looking at a gash in the wall, the wind blowing in. “He’s gone.” Was all he said.
And so, Kairi, and Sora set off to find Riku and attempt to rebalance the darkness in his heart. And Riku, alone, sets off to rebalance it himself, and try not to hurt anyone with his power.

    Chapter 1-
    Riku is sick.
Oh how I hate those words. I’ve heard them to many time to count. I can’t wait to erase them from my memory forever, and I’ll never have to hear them again.
Ansem gave Riku this sickness. He took the light and darkness in his heart and basically shoved an elephant on one side of the balance beam destroying his good nature, corrupting him for a time. Last time I saw him, he seemed almost too good. If my theory is right, than it’ll only be a matter of time before it’ll be shoved the other way again, teetering until he gets himself killed.
No, I couldn’t think about that. It would be to painful to see him killed, and most likely by his best friend. But I trust Sora. I have complete faith in him. The only thing I’m worried about is…
Will it get me killed in the process of trying to keep the balance of my two best friends? To have to choose between the one I love, and the one who loves me?
    That’s not a choice. That’s a damnation.
“Kairi?” Sora said spinning around the corner. “Are you okay?”
I smiled, a fake, forced smile, and Sora knew it.
“We’ll find him.” He said encouragingly. “I promise.”
A small flash of stars raining down all around me, each of us on two different sides of the island each slowly being pulled farther and farther apart…
“I know we will.” I said slowly, looking down at my feet.
He hesitantly moved on passed my room so he could go and drive the gummi ship King Mickey had lent them.
This was hopeless. Even if we did find Riku did it mean he would be the same Riku that I remembered? Or would he be different, like when the darkness first started to take over his heart?
I shook my head, feeling like I was going around in circles. We were going to Traverse Town now, headed to talk to Leon and the others. Maybe they knew what was going on. Maybe they could help us cure Riku of the darkness.
    If anybody could.

Awesome! I'm glad you like it. I love Riku and wanted to do something unique, so I thought I would combine an idea I had about a book series I was thinking of writing, and Kingdom Hearts.
And plus I've never seen anyone write about Kairi in first person. Get inside her head. I'll be sure to write more now that I know somone is reading it!

I'm sorry these chapter's are extremely short, I'm planning on having them get bigger as time goes on but for now...

    Chapter 2: Riku-
The crash echoed throughout the room as Riku chuckled. Yuffie panting on the floor, Leon next to her. “Such a simple game.” He said, shaking his head. “Now tell me, where is the Book of the Keyblade Wars?”
Leon said nothing nor did Yuffie, Aerith cried out from the corner, and Leon winced.
“Xsanort spoke of it in the organization, in it lies what I need. I must have it.”
“The Book is hidden.” Leon said finally after hearing Aerith cry out again. “Hidden deep within the dark realms. But you’ll never be able to get to it. It’s guarded by a door, a door that only opens to the Keyblade master.”
“And who was supposed to be the Keyblade master?” Riku said with a smirk. “Thank you Squall. I guess I should set you free…” he held up he Keyblade and looked it over with great care, looking into the inky blackness surrounding the other half of the room, trapping Yuffie and Leon inside. Aerith sat in the corner, Riku’s hand around her hair. He looked up at them again. “Then again maybe I won’t.”
He threw Aerith down and walked away, his black cloak whipping around behind him. He closed his eyes and smiled, remembering before when he had to fight Sora’s Nobody in order to wake him up in The World that Never Was. In a second he was there, the dark power radiating from him like smoke.
The World that Never Was was in ruins. The buildings were in shambles and the heart shaped moon was only a faint outline in the sky. He guessed Maleficent had done a lot of damage when she fought all of those heartless.
A piece of broken glass cracked under someone’s feet from behind him. He paused, rapping the cloak from the Organization around him completely and looked behind him, regarding the boy there with a calm serenity.
“Hello, Roxas.” He said smiling slightly.

I was a little worried that Riku was too evil, but I tryed to think back to what happened with Ansem, and basically pretended he had taken him over again. How would he act? I'm glad you like it, and I'm happy that 10+ people have read it sense I posted last night.

I don't care, I've got people looking at it. And by the way, I'm adding the chapter labels in. And plus I've got the second part to Riku's Chapter 1

    Chapter 2: Riku (cont.)-

The boy behind him stopped short and Riku turned completely around to face Sora’s nobody. “Long time, no see, eh?”
“Last time I saw you, you were trying to capture me.” Roxas said coldly. “In fact, you did.”
Riku shrugged and let his Keyblade fade. “Apposing intrests.” He said slowly. “But not anymore. I’m pretty sure you have something you want, don’t you?”
Roxas said nothing, and averted his eyes, making sure not to look into Riku’s seductive blue eyes. His two Keyblades appeared in his hands.
Riku rolled his eyes. “You might want what other Nobodies want, to be whole again, but you did that already. But I know you also want to be your own man, to do as you wish without being forced to do another’s bidding. More than you want to be whole, you want to be separate again. I can do that. You’ll never have to what Sora wants again.”
    “I’m me.” He growled.
“You’re anything but that. You see people don’t think of Sora as Roxas anymore, not with the Organization destroyed. He’s just Sora. The Keyblade’s Chosen One. But you, you’re the opposite of that, aren’t you? I’m sure you’ve heard them talking about you. You’re always Sora’s Nobody or a Nobody. Never just Roxas. Even your name betrays you.”
    “What do you want?”
“I want you to help me, Roxas.” Riku said quietly. “Then we’ll talk about you being yourself again.”
Roxas was quiet for a moment and thought, the Keyblades still in his hands. He reached up and pulled his hood down.
“You’re right.” Roxas said, looking him in the eyes. “I do want to be myself. But I also want to be myself with someone else. Someone who doesn’t want that. Someone who doesn’t want to destroy Sora and Kairi’s lives.”
“You’ll give up what you want for Naminé?” Riku scoffed. “How very noble. How very… Sora-like.”
“I’m not afraid of being joined with my other again.” He said quietly. “I’ve done it. I’m whole. I’ve done what no Nobody has ever done before me. So now, I’ll do what Sora can’t do. And he’ll do what I can’t do. We’re part of the same whole. We work together to do what must be done. To stop you from trying to destroy us.”
“You silly child.” Riku said shaking is head. “You don’t understand anymore than Sora would. I’m not trying to destroy you. My plan is much bigger than just the Keyblade warrior and his Nobody. Much, much bigger. I’m not trying to destroy you….” Riku passed and looked to Roxas curiously, wondering if he’ll really understand. Silently he held his hand out and a portal was made. “I’m trying to help you.” And with that he stepped into the darkness.
Roxas charged for the portal and launched himself after him and appeared in another part of the World That Never Was. The same place where they had fought last time.
“Recognize this?” Riku called down, and Roxas looked up. Riku stood on top of the building, the wind flowing all around him. The rain started to fall gently. “This is when we were on opposing sides. I fought for Sora’s survival. You fought for your own. Not so different now is it? You’re fighting for the survival of both you and Sora. And I’m fighting for my own.”
Roxas growled and Riku held up his hand to the lightning in the sky. He was struck and took the energy of the lightning and shot it out in all directions. Calling the heartless to him.
Roxas knew what was going on. Riku wanted to repeat history, only this time, he was powerful enough to win. This wasn’t going to be easy.
He slashed at the heartless madly, an endless dance that seemed to never end. He had to get up to the building. But he knew what Riku would do when he got there.
    He would jump.
Riku watch him, knowing he was trying to find a better ending to this that what he had found last time. But Riku knew he couldn’t. Roxas would be anticipating his every move, but Riku would be doing the same.
He was as good as dead.
Riku jumped, and slashed his Keyblade at Roxas, trying to reach him. It was, exactly like repeating history, and that was what Riku wanted. But not entirely. Not the end.
Roxas cried out when the Keyblade hit him in the chest, and he fell. Riku soared passed him and landed on his feet.
    Roxas didn’t.
It felt like becoming whole again, only backwards. So, he fell, an endless drifting, a dark subject to the will of the universe. A Nobody. Riku watched, saddened as he saw his best friend's nobody almost shatter into a million pieces before hitting the ground. He turned his head and felt the pieces brush past him, like pieces of glass. It was done. for now. Roxas wouldn't bother him until Sora needed him again.
Sora... how could he do this to him? Seem to betray him this way, how could he leave his friends alone, wondering if he was good or evil? He didn't even know himself.
All he knew was this. He was Riku. The wielder of Oblivion. He was oblivion.
    And he liked it.

It's not finished, and that's what I get for trying to finish this on my grandmother's computer. Here it is:

    Chapter 3-

I watched as Sora jolted suddenly in his bed and sat up. I raised my eyebrows at his sudden clumsiness, not unheard of. “You okay?” I asked him.
“Yeah.” he said strangely, making sound more like a question than a statement. “I just felt…. never mind.”
I put down my notebook, the one I had been writing in ferociously before Sora’s rude awakening. My creative talents had improved a lot sense I had blended with Naminé, I had been writing about out journey for a while now, from Sora’s perspective, and I had been interviewing him for a while now. Most of the time he was happy to share his journey’s story with me. But when he chose not to talk about a subject, I wouldn’t push it. Not until later, anyway, when he was tired. It was much easier to get answers from Sora when he was sleepy.
He had been happy when he had gotten on the gummi ship, because Donald and Goofy happened to be at Traverse Town for the King. Sora always was happy in their company. And the company of the other’s at Traverse Town. For him, this journey was a blast. Another adventure. Time to spend saving the world.
And this time I was going with him.
“Are you sure?” I asked, arching my head.
“I feel…. Whole.” he said strangely, looking out into the distance.
“And you didn’t before?” I said, my eyebrow’s raised again.
He shook his head. “I didn’t notice it before.”
I sighed and dropped the subject, and, as I he would, Sora did too. “What are we eating?” he asked. “I’m starved.”
“We still have some of the fruit left over from the island.” I told him. “And the meat from the castle.”
He only nodded his approval. Sora was very quiet lately, I had noticed. It was strange to see the perky happy child I had known for so long in such deep thought about something. But then I realized, I was doing the same thing almost all the time. I wrote almost every day. He must be making up for that, I reasoned.
Or maybe I was just trying to find an excuse.
“I think I’ve got some chocolate left.” I said, trying to sound remotely happy.
He looked at me strangely. “Is that healthy?”
“No.” I said, shrugging. “But it’s better than dried salty meat and pruned fruit.”
He chuckled, and nodded his agreement. “Chocolate it is.”
I smiled, seeing, finally, the Sora I knew, and reached into my bag to grab the chocolate bar I had taken from Destiny Island before we left. “what’s the matter, Sora?" I asked knowing something was bothering him.
“Just thinking about Roxas…” he muttered. “How is it, being joined with Naminé?”
I thought for a moment. “Well,” I said slowly, breaking him a piece of chocolate. “I can feel what she felt, I have dreams of what happened with her and Roxas and I remember what she felt at the time. It’s typical, really, like knowing every detail of another persons life, including the feelings.”
Sora scoffed and looked down. “Typical….” he chuckled quietly. “
How could you have it so easy, Kairi?”
I stared at him for a long while as he munched quietly on the chocolate. Have it easy? What did he mean? What was it like, being joined with Roxas? I could tell from Namine’s memories that he was irrational and emotional, he let his anger guide his thoughts. He also seemed to be incredibly loyal, considering. Much like Sora in a sense, only in an aspect that Sora never showed.
“Five minutes until arival at Traverse Town.” the ships mechanical voice said and Sora looked up.
“I’m going to go and check on the ship.” he said and turned.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw a shadow, someone dressed in Organization XIII robes. Someone familiar, I vaguely recognized him but before I could blink it was gone.
I stood dumbfounded on the ground and suddenly remembered something. I grabbed my notebook from behind me, the one with the drawings and flipped through it furiously, trying to find the page with the picture. That one picture…
Finally I found it and stared open mouthed at the resemblance. It was exactly as I had pictured him. It was exactly as I had seen him in Namine’s memories. It was Roxas, in Organization XIII robes and Sora as well, blended together with charcoal. It was exactly as I had just seen him. As I had just seen the both of them together.
    What was happening with Sora?

There you have it, the chapter two. By the way, when I was reading this I was watching this music video and it pertained to it very well. hey, it needs publicity anyway:

    Well, sense you insist....

    Chapter 4-
When we got to Traverse town, it was madness. I was almost positive that Riku had been here. Of course, the gaping holes in the walls from darkness and the heartless crawling all over the place were sort of a giveaway.
Sora walked up behind me and I tried not to look back at him, the saddened look in my eyes giving away the worry I felt towards him. But really, didn’t I have the right after what he had just pulled? Of course, he did have the right to his secrets, but nevertheless, it didn’t give him the right to give me that little tiny piece of information and expect to just drop it?
Leave him be, Namine chided. He needs to cool down.
Against my better judgment, I did just that, letting him lead the way through the dark, heartless infested streets, hoping that if he fought he might get his mind off of Roxas.
Can it really be this hard for him? I wondered. Was Roxas really that bad?
Although Roxas and Sora are part of the same whole, they are two totally different parts of that whole. And when they blended, Sora gained a little bit of Roxas. A part of him he was sure he would never have to deal with.
I thought about it as I fought with my Keyblade, and slashed through the heartless, heading over towards Sora on the steps of Cid’s shop and I ran up to meet him, destroying the last three heartless in my path.
I hope he can deal with it himself for now. I thought doubtfully to Namine.
Roxas can. She thought after a moment. But I’m not sure about Sora.
“Ready?’ he said, breathlessly and I nodded, catching the faintest hint of pain in his beautiful eyes before entering the shop.
“Sora!” Aerith cried out as they entered and Leon coughed helping her up. “Kairi!”
“Aerith!” I said, pain stricken at the sight of her.
“If you’re looking for Riku, he’s not here.” Leon said warily. “You missed him by a few minutes.”
“Damn.” Sora swore, frowning. “Why did he do this?”
“He wanted the secret to destroying you and the keyblade.” Yuffie said putting her hand through her hair. “And as you can see, he wanted it pretty badly.”
“Riku wouldn’t do this.” I said defiantly. “It’s his sickness.”
They eyed her curiously. “Riku’s sick?” They said in unison. And weirdly enough, “they” included Sora.
“You didn’t know that?” I said incredulity. “but King Mickey…”
“King Mickey told me that Riku was being taken over by the darkness again, but he didn’t say anything about a sickness.”
    I shook my head. “I don’t understand.”
“Neither do we.” said Leon. “All we get is the fact that Riku is trying to kill you with the Book of the Keyblade Wars.”
“The Book of the Keyblade Wars?” Sora said skeptically. “What does that mean?”
“The Book of Keyblade Wars details the diary of those that took place in the Keyblade Wars thousands of years ago when the Keyblades were first made. It explains everything you could do with a Keyblade, and everything you can do to destroy the Keyblade. It had so much information that King Mickey and a few others hid the book in Kingdom Hearts, and only under special conditions can the book become available again.”
“And those conditions are?” Sora said impatiently, and I put my hand on his shoulder to calm him down.
“We don’t know.” Leon admitted. “It was a long time, and King Mickey was certainly secretive about it.”
"Hey, Sora, have you two seen Cloud?" Aerith asked us. "He hasn't been around for a really long time..."
"Aerith they have other things on there mind." Yuffie said walking up behind her. "Cloud's probably fine."
“I wonder why Riku wants to destroy you, Sora.” I wondered aloud, ignoring Aerith and Yuffie and he jerked his head around staring at me. “What?” I said defensively. “He has to have a reason. The first time it was because Ansem- I mean Xsanort’s Heartless- wanted you to open Kingdom Hearts. Now….what?”
“She’s got a point.” Yuffie said, nodding in agreement.
“So, what has got Riku motivated this time?” I asked and Sora shrugged.
“I don’t know.” he admitted. “I guess we’re just going to have to find out.”
“How?” I asked, arching my head.
“I guess we’re just going to have to go searching for him then.” Sora said shaking his head. “I just hope he hasn’t gotten himself into more darkness than he already seems to be in.”

As long as you are enjoying the decisions you make as an author, then there will never be a means to stop writing. Just remember that no two stories are every going to be the same because each are distinctly different. I appreciate that you enjoy my story though :D

I'm not saying I hate mine. I'm just saying it's not one of my best. It's better to create characters of your own than working with something that's already been created.

Well, this is longer, and to me was a lot more fun and made me think more about the future chapters. I'm not entirely sure about the plotline yet. But I think I've got it, all due to this chapter. Read it. It's good stuff, and important.

    Chapter 5-
I watched solemnly as Sora entered the ship, and plopped himself in the bed next to me. It wasn’t hard to believe how weary he was. He had just defeated about half the town’s heartless himself.
“You really didn’t have to do that.” I commented, not looking up from my writing.
“Didn’t I?” he sighed and lay back.
Don’t be to harsh, he needed it. Namine said in the back of her head. Roxas needed it.
But are they the same person, really? I wondered to myself and looked over to the picture of Roxas and Sora blended together on my sketch pad. Or is Roxas trying to leave?
“What are you thinking about, Kairi?” he asked me curiously looking over to my work and interrupting my thoughts. Startled, I looked up.
“Nothing.” I said quietly. “Just, about what we’ve been through, you, me and Riku, and how, after two years when we were finally reunited, we’re torn apart again. It just gets me to thinking; life’s not fair, is it?”
He turned back and looked up at the upper bunk’s frame, thinking. “I think life is fair, in it’s own way, we just can’t see it from our point of view. At least, I hope it is, for Riku’s sake.”
We were both silent and finally I put my book aside, rubbing the sleep from my eyes before climbing up onto the upper bunk. “For Riku’s sake.” I murmured, and heard him snore before letting the lights flicker off, engulfing myself in darkness.
    +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
“Come on, Kairi!” Sora yelled my way and I ran frantically through the water to catch up with him, giggling with laughter. “You can do better than that!”
“I’m coming!” I called after him laughing and Riku jumped over and pushed him in the water.
“Hey!” I heard him say before splashing on his behind into the water.
I smiled over at Riku who grinned at me, and we both jumped in the water too.
I remembered this day. It was a few years before Sora’s adventure had begun, and I could vaguely recall in the back of my mind that it was a dream, standing there on top of the clubhouse, watching.
It had been so simple than. We had gotten into so much trouble, us three. I wish it was like that again.
I caught a glimpse of something that I didn’t remember then. Sora and Riku stopped trying to kill each other with splashes of the sea’s water, and looked around, my own figure missing. Sora searched just as frantically as Riku and suddenly he caught sight of my own shape floating near the island.
In that strange, dream-like way, it suddenly changed, and I was the one floating in the water and I pictured myself falling…. Falling…. It didn’t take too long for the image of falling to clear into an image of returning home, right before Sora and Riku had, when they were still trapped on the World That Never Was. I trudged up through the water, and rung out my hair and sat down on the beach, when the King walked up beside me.
“You know they’ll come home.” he said, putting his hand on my shoulder, and I looked up at him.
“I wish everything could be perfect again.” I said quietly to him. “I wish they had never met me.”
“Gosh, Kairi! Why would you want that!”
“Maybe if I had never met them,” I told him, looking out into the water vacantly. “They would have never have had such problems. Riku never would have turned to the darkness, and I would have never have lost my heart, and Sora wouldn’t have had to go fighting for me.” A tear ran down my face, which I quickly wiped away. “They would still be happy.”
“The boys were made for Destiny, Kairi.” he said. “You know they would never give up the chance to go on an adventure.”
“But if I never came here….”
“If you never came here, they would have had a lot harder time excepting it. Now don’t forget how important you are.” he told her. “Sora wouldn’t be the same without you. And now that they’re joined, Roxas wouldn’t be the same without Namine.”
“Yeah.” I said, but I didn’t really believe his reassurances.
The King walked away and I looked out into the forest, catching a glimmer of an Organization XIII member. “And so the lion fell in love with the lamb.” he chided. “But who’s the lion?” I stood and the man held up his hand. “Twilight and Light make, what?” he asked me and chuckled.
"What are you talking about!" I barked at him. "Leave me alone!"
    “Kairi?” Donald said.
“Who’re ya talkin’ to?” Goofy asked her and she looked up.
“No one.” I said defiantly, staring at the space where the Organization member had been. What did he mean? Who was he? “No one.” I said quietly, a lot less sure.

I'll give a cookie away to the person who figures out what what he said meant. And yes, I might have stolen the whole "Who can figure out what that means?" thing from another fanfiction. But seriously, a cookie's on the line here!

Okay, the first part of the story got closed up, maybe from inactivity, but I decided I'm going to continue it here (at least until I get the other one unclosed). For those who haven't read the begining it is here:

Otherwise, here it is. The cookie is still up for grabs by the way:
    Chapter 6:
My eyes flashed open at the sound of the bed below me creaking. I moaned and rolled over, hoping that maybe I could get some sleep before morning. Maybe it already was morning. Who could tell from the inside of the ship? But for some strange reason, I knew that it would be pitch black outside, the moon glowing it’s eerie light in the darkness.
Sora, below me, paused and seemed to listen to my breathing and see if I was sleeping. I tried extremely hard to get my thumping heart under control, breathing regularly. What was Sora doing sneaking out of the room? And why?
Shh! Namine hissed impatiently and I did, quieting myself down as I watched, my eyes partly open as I saw Sora stand, his already messy brown hair even more of a mess and he sighed looking around.
“I guess.” he murmured and scratched his head. His eyes caught my picture on the table and he reached for it, touching the messed together forms of Roxas and Sora as one. Well that was about the stupidest thing I’ve ever done. I had been so careful not to leave my notebooks out in the open for Sora to see, even on the island I had my hiding place for them, not that Sora didn’t go there as often as I did. Suddenly I had a cold stab of homesickness, and my mind wandered slowly back to my dream and… oh, Riku. Why did you have to get sick on us? Why’d you have to get corrupted by the darkness two years ago. I mentally shook my head. Riku and his ego.
Remind me to kick him when we get home. I asked Namine.
    Pay attention! He’s talking!
“There’s a thought.” he murmured. “And with what the king said…” he shook his head. “At least there are plenty of heartless out there.”
My eyebrow’s twitched as I forced myself not to raise them. What was Sora talking about? The king never told us anything about heartless, only about Riku’s return to darkness.
He never told you. Namine corrected and I thought for a moment. Listen, you’re missing it. I listened.
“…suicide.” he said, opening to the page where he stood in a white castle facing an opponent with long pink hair and a Organization XIII cloak. I didn’t remember much of what I drew, most of it was from Namine, but this… this seemed to bring up an open sore inside of me, as if someone had just told me Riku had died. It made me feel almost helpless, much like what I felt in Hollow Bastion when Sora rescued me. I suspected that Namine’s lack of reaction had something to do with it. In the back of my mind, I thought I heard her whimper, but I probably imagined it. “Not that it’s unlikely.”
Namine broke down into sobs, screaming so loudly that I was afraid that Sora would hear it. Mentally I tried to calm her to no avail. Whatever Roxas and Sora were talking about Namine knew about it and she didn’t like it.
“No…” Sora said quietly, opened up to a picture of himself floating inside of a white flower type object, his eyes closed, with Roxas looking at him, his key blade drawn, a large, red, silvery object next to him. “But I might.”
No! Namine cried. Roxas, you can’t let him!
Namine what is it? I thought and she didn’t reply.
I had no idea what the object was, but that’s where Sora’s eyes rested, where they stayed. I guessed that it was probably because Roxas was explaining it to him. That just made Namine break down into even harder wails.
“What is this?” Sora murmured and paused, letting Roxas speak. “All I remember is looking for Riku and the King… Why, do you know what happened?”
He was quiet for a moment and grimaced like a bad taste in his mouth. He sighed and put the book on our small table by the bed, his key blade emerging, the flash of gold glinting in the half-light. “Glad too.” he murmured and was out the door.
Namine finally caught her theoretically breath and I held her hand in my mind, sitting up, my chin resting on my knee as I looked after the warriors. What happened?
Thank you, Roxas. Was all that Namine said. For keeping my secret, even though it is not mine to keep.
I said nothing to her, and gracefully got up and out of bed, my red hair tangled from my dreaming. It reminded me of what that man had said in the forest. The dream was just that, a dream. It never happened.
But of course, the conversation with the King had happened, in a brief spur of the moment depressed feeling I contemplated the idea of the boy’s lives without me. But then I remembered they would have gotten into much worse trouble without me. I was their balance, wasn’t I? Without me, Riku would still be working for Mallificent and Organization XIII- or, without me, Organization XII- would have taken over Kingdom Hearts again. Oh, the boys would have destroyed the world, inadvertently of course, but still.
With that thought in mind I followed after Sora, sliding through the open ship’s automated door. He was no where to be seen, the hallway pitch black in the looming night. I suddenly felt a completely dark sense of foreboding, and the feeling of someone’s eyes on me. I turned around in a flash, looking wildly around for the source of the feeling. “The lion with the lamb and the farmboy looks on, hoping to have a piece of what they share, knowing he never can.” said a voice, echoing through the hallway. That was scary There was absolutely no one in sight. And it was a reference to the man on the beach in her dream. Organization XIII robes. What could that possibly mean?
I ran forward, wanting to get out of the hallway as fast as humanly possible, even faster if I could. I heard the clash of a key blade ahead of me and realized I stood in front of the door that lead into Traverse Town. That must have been where Sora went.
I touched the button to open the door and stepped out into the bright moonlit night.
The sight was astounding. There were hundreds of them, thousands. I couldn’t count how many heartless surrounded the ship. They jumped together, slowly moving forward. I wanted to scream, I wanted to run but I couldn’t, I was rooted to the spot.
There was a flash of gold and the clash of a keyblade and I turned to look. There was Sora, the small little boy who I hadn’t realized had gotten older in my absence. He looked taller, his back straighter. His movements were so beautifully, so fluent that it was almost like a dance. I had only seen Sora fight a few times, but never like this. He was doing something differently here. Something was wrong. I could feel it.
It seemed almost as if there were two of him, moving completely in the same motions, the same gestures and attacks. His face was blank as he concentrated in the heat of the battle. In one quick motion though, he flicked his wrists together and together he drew apart two completely different key blades, one of bright silver, and one that resembled Riku’s keyblade. The look in his eyes was frightening. You could see the fire there, the hate, the fury, the need to kill. A tear slid down my cheek and I brushed it away. Oh, Sora, you’re worse off than I thought.
Oh no. Namine said. He taught him how to dance with darkness.
“What?” I breathed, shocked. What did she mean, dance with darkness?
There was no more light now, all I could see was darkness: shadows. Now, I realized through my tears, that there really were to warriors fighting on the battlefield. It wasn’t only Sora anymore: it was Roxas too.
Oh, Roxas…. She murmured, but it was not sad like I had expected her voice to be. It sounded almost amused, she seemed to laugh as she said it. How I miss you.
Can you ever see him, as yourself?
I see him a lot. She said. Sometimes we go to one of your minds to talk, but it’s not the same. He’s not the same Roxas as before. I liked him better in the program, even though I’d never admit it to him.
    He was different then?
He was raised differently. She corrected. He believed himself to have friends and a heart. He was kind. He was gentle. But when he worked for Organization XIII he was brutal. His only friend was Axel and I think he’s been suffering ever sense he’s been returned to darkness.
So now he’s resorted to fighting again. I reasoned. Poor Roxas.
And in return, Sora gets to feel the same way, even though he was already confused by his life with you and Riku.
How can that be confusing? I asked frowning.
Sora’s much more complicated than you realize. She replied gravely. You should watch him, don’t let the search for Riku consume him like it will Roxas.
I watched him, thinking over what she had said when he looked up, the battle seeming to slow down around him. I knew by the fury in his eyes that Namine was right, he was in pain. It was up to me to help him through it. I wouldn’t stand on the sidelines like before. I would fight. I would help. And I knew that both of my boy’s needed it.

The cool thing about this chapter is that I got to do it first in Sora's perspective, which was fun for this fanfic, and then in Kairi's which left you hanging a lot more than the other one. I'm glad I used this oen instead.
