Riddle Competition

He has one eye, and so saw two plums.
He took one plumb, and left one plumb.

Alternately, he saw them with his imagination, and because they were not real, was able to neither take nor leave them.

Now my riddle.

My gown is silent as I thread the seas,
Haunt old buildings or tread the land.
Sometimes my song-coat and the supple wind
Cradle me high over the homes of men,
And the power of clouds carries me
Windward over cities. Then my bright silks
Start to sing, whistle, roar,
Resound and ring, while I
Sail on untouched by earth and sea,
A spirit, ghost and guest, on wing.

 

wind/clouds. a thief was caught and sentenced to death, but was told that he could decide how he died. If he said something true, he was starved to death, if he said something false he would die of dehydration, and if he said something that the king didn't know whether was true or false, and could not determine it within three minutes he was to be drowned. how did the thief survive?

 

I will die of dehydration?

 

unfortunately, if he said that the king would sit and think for three minutes and then drown him.

 

Oh, I misread the riddle. Hmm, I will drown? If not then I'm out of ideas.

 

you'd just end up dehydrating.
