Revelations (Re-made)

"Yeah well, that's my bro for you, although, he does have some serious skill with a sword." Maddie said thoughtfully, letting the mace fly out of her hand and fly straight towards Gabe, not realising this, of course.

 

Gabe grabbed the mace, spikes piercing his hand as he grabbed it. He watched blood flow down his arm and time seemed to slow down for him. "That's interesting...." Reflex was to duck when a mace flew at you, Gabe's reflex was to catch it. As if it were the most completely natural thing to do.

 

April watched him with wide eyes, "Hey, are you alright?" She stopped moving the sword and quickly moved towards him.

 

Gabe let go of the mace, letting it drop to the ground and stared at his bloody hand, "It...doesn't hurt. Why doesn't it hurt? I'm sure I should feel pain right now." His hand felt fine and if he hadn't been watching blood drip from his palm, he'd never have guessed he'd just caught a mace.

 

"Maybe.....maybe you are an angel!? That would explain it! Yeah, maybe we should go ask your dad though." She glanced over to the back room where she could just make out Yuri's silhouette, "I don't think my Bro's in too good of a mood, and that looks quite serious, even if it doesn't hurt."

 

Gabe told himself not to panic, even though he felt like he should be. "Then what do you propose I do about it? If we can't go ask my father what the hell I am!? Then perhaps we should just, I don't know, cover it up? I don't feel any pain in it but that doesn't mean I might not be in shock. Yuri couldn't ignore a hurt child, could he?" Gabe almost feared going to his father for help. In all his life, he'd never asked for help from his father, except the night when Lulu died.

 

Maddie shook her head, "Oh, Yuri would ignore an injured child and I should know......" She thought back to when they were younger. "Why can't you ask your dad though?"

 

"I..I could never ask my father for help. It's a Coran code of his, never ask for help and I've followed it all my life." He pulled on his shirt until a strip of it ripped off and tied it around his wounded hand, "If you guys want to, we can go see him. Though he'd probably scold me for catching a mace." He didn't realize that ripping his shirt showed off a portion of his skin. Revealing old scars from the night Lulu died. Something else had happened that night and he couldn't remember what.

 

Maddie frowned slightly at the scars, "Ouch, they look sore. How'd you get them? You didn't catch a mace with your abdomen did you?"

 

"Yeah, what happened there?" April asked, her voice just showing concern for him, with maybe a hint of curiousity.

 

Gabe smiled at their concern and curiosity. "Ah, that? Honestly, I don't remember. It happened the night I...uh, when Lulu died." He said in a small voice. shy wasn't like him and he shook his head, lifting the rest of his shirt to show the pattern they made. They formed what looked like scribbles. "It's an old language of the angels. At least that's what Father says. I thought he was joking back then but now...knowing what he is and everyone else...it makes sense how he'd know." Touching them lightly, he flinched a little and let his eyes glaze over, "'Thy child of the inferior child, one of Twilight and darkness, my chosen vessel. Thee can never be superior to any other. Thy path is corrupt and thee who touchs my prize will reap the benifits and consequences.'" He fell silent and let the words sink in.

 

April was quiet as she tried to figure out the words, she gazed at Gabe. "What does it mean?" she asked quietly.

 

His mournful look shattered and he laughed, "Not a clue." Scratching the back of his head, he grinned, "I think the only one who does know is my father and I guess whoever else I'm related to. But the only relatives I have are mom and Gabriel. My Unlce died I think a long time ago."

 

"Really?" April said just wanting to help, the sword hanging loosly at her side, "Um, do you thing you should ask Gabriel? Or won't he give you a straight answer?"

 

Gabe sighed, "Gabriel's answers are never straight. Asking him too much earns me punishment and a lecture. I don't think I'll ever find out who my Uncle is. It would be nice if he'd at least tell me the year he died so I could look it up myself. Dad says he was once a greatly revered man, whatever that's supposed to mean."

 

April walked over to him and put her hand on his shoulder, "Well, maybe it's better you don't know. I'm sure you'll find out in time but until then I wouldn't worry about it"

 

Gabe laughed and took her hand in his, though he felt a slight burning pain in his wounded hand, he smiled, "Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm happy with my father and mom." He could feel something slither in the back of his mind, but when pursued, it slipped away. Closing his eyes he tried to let it come to him. Dark images flashed behind his eyelids. Chains, blood, screaming, destruction. Wings flapped in his ears and he felt someone pull on his shoulder, though he was still holding onto April's hand. Recoiling from the ghastly images his eyes flew open, dropped April's hand and rubbed his head.

 

April frowned, her eyes fraught with concern, "Gabe, are you alright?"

 

Gabe shook his head, "I'm alright, April. Don't worry about me. So...when does this class get over, I've got a few bones to pick with my Father."

 

April nodded, "If you're sure" She thought for a second, "Well, we've got your dad teaching us last period, right? You could do it then" She paused, "We've got my mum's lesson next though, if I remember right. I hope she's not too embarassing"
