Return of Kira: Part Two-Betrayal

"You're not?"

 

"No, i'm not..."

 

Lana cautiously stepped out behind the wall blocking her from veiw. She was looking down to the ground, straing blankly at her feet. Her hood had fallen down over her long, messy, black hair and was obsuring what little of her face was still visable under her fringe. Her hands bother clasped together tightly and covered in her sleeves.

 

"Come over here..." Mellody sighed holding out her arm.

 

Lana apprehensively shuffled towards her, still concerned that it was a trick of some sort.

 

"Will you please just come here?" Mellody asked with a certain tenderness she never normally showed.

 

Nervously biting down on her thumbnail and Lana darted over swiftly to her. Still worried about what she was going to do next, fight or flight adrenaline running through her vains.

 

"Come on...?" Mellody persisted still holding out her arm. "It's fine..."

 

Lana soon got within arms reach of Mellody, becoming more nervous by the moment.

 

"It's okay..." Mellody whispered in a bare audible voice, stretching her arm out for a bit. "I'm not going to hurt you, you know..."

 

Lana nodded slightly, still not knowing if she should trust her or not. Though, the erdge to trust outweighed that of distrust. She then took one large step towards Mellody.

 

"That's right..." Mellody continued in the same voice, wrapping one of her arms around Lana. "What's going on?"

 

"Nothing...I'm just being stupid and childish and pathetic..." Lana mumbled, surpressing the erdge to cling tightly onto Mellody. Everything about her had seem to become more like a child's appearance then the young adult she was. For the first time since joing the SPK Lana was not only not acting older then she was, she was acting younger. Much younger, around eleven or tweleve at most. Around the age she was when the photographs of her wrists that Mellody had seen were taken.

 

"No your not..." Mellody encouraged trying to pull Lana closer. "Just soem bad memories would've come up, it's not your fault, and you have the right to cry... now you don't have to, but will you please tell me what happened?"

 

"Nothing... It's just... some I used to know gave me same exact look before they shoved me down the stairs or threw something heavy at me..." Lana mumbled. "Like I said... Pathetic..."

 

"It's not pathetic..." Mellody continued to pester. "It just shows that some things were done to you that shouldn't of been..."

 

"It's stupid..." She laughed weakly, burrying her face in the fabric of her cuffs. "I just think things through to much... I guess. And I've got to get over the whole betrayal thing soon... I can't go on like this."

 

"What betrayal?" Mellody asked lightly not meaning to pry, bringing her other arm aroudn and trying to bring Lana into what would normally be considered a sisterly hug.

 

"A-All through when I was little... Around eight to eleven I'd think I'd made a friend or something and... And in the end it was always some elborate joke to upset me... Or a way to get me somewhere where something bad would happen. Like pushing me out of windows was popular at one point. Luckily it was only the ground floor... But when you eight and as tiny as I was then it's still a drop and a bit..."

 

Mellody bit her lip. At the age of 8 that was going way too far, regardless of the floor. ""It's okay Lana... you don't have to worry about that anymore... i'm your friend, and i'm not going anywhere... and i swear to god if anyone ever does that to you again i'll kill them..."
