Return of Kira: Part Two-Betrayal

"Act like you were stoned out of your mind mainly. It was really freakin' funny. I've seen some weird drunks, I mean Near talks in third person when he's p*ssed. But you having just woken up is most priceless thing I have ever seen in my entire life." Lana giggled.

"Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. But do you have the want or the time to prove it either way?" Theory grinned. "Because I think dertimining if I'm messing with you around about your girlfriend is just a tad less important then what you're ment to be focusing on. Kira ring any bells?"

"Nice to know you were listening to my questions..." First sighed, moving as though to scratch his back. Then there was the slightest rustling of the paper before he turned the page over. What he'd infact done, at a great speed with tremendous skill with slight of hand and manipulation of what others see of what you are really doing, was move the Death Note from behind the cusions and hidden it it the depths of the Theatre and Culture section of his broadsheet. "Makes me feel warm and tinglely that people hang onto my every word so closely." He muttered in a false but believeabley angry voice, the pattern of each of the last words matching his movements as he agressively folded up the paper and hauled himself from his seat on his sofa. Stalking off into his bedroom for a moment, as though to take a moment to calm down. Everyone knew First had somewhat of a short fuse with people that irritated him, and Helena was quite possibley the most annoying person he'd ever set eyes on. But while he was hopefully fooling her with that act he locked both the newspaper and the Death Note away in a draw he'd set up the previous night, but it had yet to be used. Unforutantley he didn't have the time to give it a second test run. The first had been succesful, but First liked to be methodical and scientific as well. And he was most certainly aware of 'Sod's Law' If it can go wrong it will go wrong he'd always thought, and being concious of that most certainly helped him in a lot of his plans and plots and schemes over the years. Though, he couldn't remember a lot of them, which was currently proving to be a rather large pain in his backside. Finally, with the notebook safly hidden he returned to the living room. "I'm sorry about my loss of temper just now." He appologised graciously, bowing his head slightly as he spoke.

"Me waking up is funnier then Near p*ssed?" Mellody asked in surprise. "Well, that doesn't say a lot for either of us... Though at least I win." She added with a tone of please that was maybe just a little too there, a little too real.

"Yes you are." Lana giggled "Mellody: Funny when not thinking normally champion!" Lana mocked, then as Mellody rambled a mock execeptance speech that made almost no sense her mind began to think of it's own accord, it'd been a long while since she'd had used her brain for analyitical thought and it seemed to of decided it was going to analyse the first thing it heard that could be. Then once it began to lead her down a twisted route it landed on the last five words of her friends: 'Though at least I win.'
It's really not hard to notice once you know it's there, she is completely trying to beat Near for Mello, gathering the little victories in his name. It really is begining to seem like she's two people at times... Monique and Mellody... Monique being the girl who brought me and him together, the one who cried about Mello and her brother that night... And Mellody being the loud gobby one that likes to make sexual innuendo and makes certain she can beat Near at every chance she gets, just for Mello I expect... Not that I can really blame her, that's obviously just my conjecture. But never mind... I could be wrong, she could just be one of the most complex people I've met. But it does seem her personalities split two for one at times, though most of us here do that. Who we are and who the names are are always different. Even with my own. Lana isn't Luna and Lana certainly isn't L. L's far too confident to really be me.

"Of course you do..." First muttered, walking back over to his sofa and dropping down admist the cusions again.

"I do. I jut chose not to show it. My favorite past time is to mess with people, ya know? Well anyway, I was wondering if nanything exticing happened recenl?"

"Yes, I'm done." She nodded. "Sorry, it's been a while since I saw you last and I've got so much material to work with right now." Theory commented with a minute giggle.

"I thought your favourite hobby was to nark people off." First jibed jokingly. Though in his opinion a lot of that comment was based in pure fact.

"Good, because I'm not stopping because it annoys you." Theory grinned cheekily. Then she snapped her head around as there was a faint tapping on the door.

After the conversation with Mellody had subsided, mainly because the blonde had somehow managed to fall asleep on arm of one of the large sofa's in the hotel lobby and as entertaining as listening to Mellody's random babbles about chocolate and explosions was it wore thin after the first half hour or so, Lana had wandered back to her own room to finally finshed the paper she'd been working on for the last three months in around ten mintues. Then, even before the laptop had started to shut-down, she'd walked off to find Near again. Arriving at his door and waiting for a moment as she heard voices. Near's and the voice of a female that was distantly fammiliar. Theory? She thought to herself as she knocked lightly on the door. I thought she was killed in that huge setup...

"Wow, another person besides me knocks?" She commented in surprise.

"Ah, so you can be witty at times then?"

 

"May you open the door?"


"Of course. I know I don't act it but that's the best part." She giggled. "When everyone thinks you're hopless clueless you're able to surispe them."

"Sure, you lazy buttcrack." Theory snickered as she skipped over too the door, pulling it open. "Heya Luna."
"Theory?"
"The one and only."
"Nice to see you again." She smiled pleasantly.
"Good to see you too, Near it's your girlfriend." Theory cackled, loving to look of shock and embarrasment on Lana's face.
"So you know as well?"
"Umm, ya." Theory grinned. "Apparently I was the only one who wouldn't know by now anyway."
"It would explain a lot if everyone did already know." Lana sighed. "Anyway, if you two are busy chatting or working or whatever I can go if you want?" She offered.

"Sneaky one aren't you?" First said approvingly. Maybe the girl isn't as dimwitted as I first believed...? This could play to a far greater advantage then I'd even previously imagined...

 

Lazy buttcrack....? "No she was just teasing me. Feel free to come in."


She smiled. "Yep and thanks."

 

"Oh, right." Lana nodded taking a step into the room. She knew full well what Theory could be like with people. She never quite let go of a joke in time and she had a habbit of being cheerful to the point of back-breaking annoyance. But it was entertaining to watch at times. Terminally happy was Theory.

"I get the feeling I should be the one leaving." Theory remarked as she watched Lana's dark and shadowed eyes flicker towards Near as she entered the room.

"It's my pleasure Helena."

 

He finished building the tower and looked at it while they were talking


She sat down on the oppiste end of the couch. "Got any plans for today? Cuz I don't obiously. It's my day off of work but no one else is abilvable."

 

"Yeah, I think I've messed Near around more then enough for one day. I'll be going now, see you both around." She smiled as she quite litterally jumped out of the room.

"I think maybe she needs to cut down on her sugar intake..." Lana commented, trying her best not to giggle as the door swung shut.

"You sure know how to chat a lad up." First chuckled, sitting back in his seat. "Telling him he's last choice, anyway. As it happens I don't really have anything offical planned. It's my first day off in a while. I have far too many vacation days bulit up so I'm just taking the time off now seeing as I don't have the money to go anyplace nice."

 

"Well she does liven up the place."


She giggled nervously. "Sorry about that. Well mind if I tag along if you go anywhere?"

 

"You can say that again." Lana said, a tiny giggle escaping her lips.

"I don't really mind, not planning on going anywhere though. Just so you know I'm the type that hangs around art galleries and other such cultural places."

 

He smiled and fall backwards into a laying pistion on the carpeted floor. "You luaghed. That's good."


"That doesn't bother me. As long I'm not alone anymore." She giggled smally and stood up. "If you d go anywhere mind telling me? I want to go back to my apartment to do some stuff." She said and headed for the door

 

"I'm not always super-emo you know." Lana smiled, as she looked down at him on the floor. "I can be cheerful, I'm just not always Little Miss Sunshine either. And you're smiling a lot more then you used to as well."

"Alright, fine I will." First nodded, sliding down into a laying postion on his sofa.

 

"I now have a reason to smile."


She nodded as she closed the door behind her and went to her apartment. When she got there she took a quick shower and got into some new clothes. Afterwards she sat in the living on the floor next to the TV since the remote broke and she hated getting up and changing the channel so many times.
