Return of Kira: Part Two-Betrayal

"If you're so tired just go to sleep..." Lana said softly. Keeping her voice low as to make sure she didn't shatter any chance he had of falling asleep, it was so obvious he was completly shattered. Though she did want to ask why exactly he wanted to stay awake because he thought if he didn't he'd not be doing his job when she was sure he knew he was so much more able to work to his fullest is he'd just sleep that little bit more.

 

"Meh." He said beforeclosing his eyes. "No thank you."

 

"Why not? You're gonna fall asleep on me again any moment anyway..." Lana asked quietly. Still keeping her voice down.

 

"That's true..." He said and sat straight.

 

Lana sighed as she fidgetted a little on the bed, trying to find a comfortable way to sit in her skirt without something embarrasing happening. "Why don't you want to sleep?" She asked again as she played mindlessly with the ends of her long, black and, for the first time in a long while, straight hair.

 

"Because I've slept enough."

 

"You're basicly asleep now though, so obviously your body doesn't think you've slept enough. Quite the opposite in fact." Lana sighed, as much as she loved him she couldn't believe just how stubborn he could be in rather trivial matters such a sleep.

 

"Well I disagree with my body then."

 

"You really can't do that." Lana laughed exaperatedly. "Fine, I'm not going to fight over this any more right now. You're just gonna pass out sooner or later, though I'd rather you went to sleep on your own terms. But as long as you sleep I don't mind how so much. I guess..."

 

"Does it upset you?"

 

"To be honest you actually passing out would scare the sh*t out of me..." She sighed. "But I'm obviously not going to convince you otherwise so I'm just wasting my breath." Lana explained dropping the hair she been playing with over her shoulder again.

 

He laid his head in her lap. "If it will scare you then I guess I'll sleep now."

 

Lana smiled at him and gently brushed his soft powder white fringe from his face. "Thank-you." She said, bowing her head momentarily in gratitude.

 

"No thanks needed."

 

"But anyway..." Lana shrugged. "You didn't have to and you did."

 

"Yeah... I just hate to find out I scare you."

 

"I worry about you all the time so if you suddenly collapsed I'm gonna panic about what may or may not of happened to make you pass out. That's all..." She explained.

 

He looked straight ahead unable to think of anything to say to that.

 

"Just sleep, okay?"

 

"Okay." He closed his eyes. "But you'll be here when I wake up right?"
