Return of Kira: Part Two-Betrayal

"To be honest, I expected people to be funny around me spending so much time with him.... But I don't care. Doesn't matter to me... you think the same things about me when you hated me?"

 

"Not really..." Mellody coughed scratching her head. "I actually thought something else entirely unimportant now let's get back to our movie.."

 

"Sure..." Lana mumbled, wiping her face again. Today had been to good so far, at least on a personal level, to care for such triviallities as popular opinion.

 

"Now, come on." Mellody gestured walking back down.

 

Lana sighed as she pulled her self off her bed. Her mind still buzzing with her various doubts, thoughts and hopes. Doubts she was trying to surpress, thoughts to sift through and hopes to push forwards and onwards. Though one thought kept resurfacing: Why, despite her only latest appearance was scruffy and the previous two were much better groomed, did this latest one earn her the worst publicity?

 

"Don't think about what others think anyway." Mellody shrugged at the bottom fo the stairs. "What matters is what you think... though i think what Near thinks may start to matter too..."

 

"His opinion's mattered for ages..." Lana said quietly. "And I don't normally care, they want to think that of me I ain't gonna stop them. I can't stop them really, just gets to me time to time and the hangover really isn't helping matters."

 

"Yeah, i understand.." Mellody smiled at hr. "Come on let's go watch the movie with Near..."

 

"If he ain't scarpered. Wouldn't blame him, being stuck in the middle like that..."

 

"Yeah..." Mellody shrugged. "Best we can do is go back and watch right?"

 

"Right." Lana nodded. "Sorry about that sir." She appologised, jumping over the back of the sofa again.

 

He was laying down on the arm of the couch. "You're better now right?"

 

Mellody rolled her eyes walking to the other side and sitting on the arm of the couch.

 

"Yeah, I'm fine. Got a couple of ideas that should hopefully change the situation at least... And it's something I need to sort out anyway. I'll be back to abnormal again by this time tormorrow at the latest."

 

He sat up then leaned on her. "Okay."

 

"So, film?" Lana asked, smiling at Near.

 

"Go ahead."

 

"Ca we just watch the damn thing now?" Mellody asked slumping down to the floor.

 

"The remote was right next to you Mell." Lana sighed reaching over and grabbing it, flicking the play button on.

He watched the perviews while wrapping his arms around Lana's arm, clinging to her. "You saw this right?"
