I agree with this suggestion because sometimes I wonder what I got reps for. So I think this would be a very nice extra thing we could have.

 

Now that Im unbanned, I can actually post on this again.

One, GX thats spaming before. Dont do that outside the spam zone.

I don't think we should reveal who gives rep/neg. rep, because there would be a neg. rep war and I don't feel like dealing with it...

As for past rep, I don't see any problems with that. Not sure if it can be done though...

true, so why not make it that only good rep gets revealed....

 

But people should know that they get bad reps so then the question "why are my rep points lower than before?" won't pop up.

 

I think DDRE means the name of the person who repped you shows up but not on negative rep.

But then people would rep other people for repping them and everyone would be rep whores -.-

But we still havent answered the question if we should be able to see our past rep or not...

 

I was thinking of taking off the neg. rep and then enabling the 'view who repped you' feature.

Not sure if it'd be a good idea. Probably would though.

 

I'd probably just leave the rep as it is, when it comes to saying whether we should know always who reps us or not. One is because as it stands, you can get rep and whether good or bad, you may not know who it is from. If you change it, then it should reflect everyone, whether good or bad too. The way it is now allows people to declare who they are or to be anonymous. It works best. Not that I care about being anonymous really. I always forget to put my nick in, so a couple people out there have rep from me with no name. SORRY! I really don't bother with negative rep though as I tend to just like to razz people instead in the forums. I can't remember a time on any forums I've given out bad karma. However, if I did, it'd be all with my name all over it, just like it is with good karma...if I remember to put it in. Any way, that long tirade was just to say that I think things are fine as they are, and if they change, it shouldn't hide people who give others bad rep, but let them see who gives good rep. It seems imbalanced.

As for the other issue of being able to see former rep, I would like to see that so that some messages aren't lost because they are humorous, even if I have no idea sometimes who said what. It'd be a memory lost to see them fade away. However, I can deal either way, of course.

Horrible idea... Negative rep is way for users to tell someone what that person said sucks without actually saying that. Think of it as a way to improve yourself.

And as for the seeing who rep'd you, no, just no. Past rep viewing, yes, just yes.

 

Well no matter what you can't see past your previous 5 reps.

Isn't this why we have the forums? You can post it. It's the internet. There shouldn't be any reason to be afraid to express your personal opinion on something. We encourage personal opinion (as long as it's maturely expressed).

I dunno. Everyone's been abusing the neg. rep so much lately it almost convinces me I should just turn it off without consenting anyone. XDD

Let's see, how effective has me telling an idiot that they are in fact too stupid to live been? Not very, since it just causes a fight or what not. Now, in fact if I were to post in the thread saying I didn't like what he was saying and just neg rep'd him or if I jsut neg rep'd him to avoid a fight, he may try to avoid neg rep in the future. You do see people around here saying every now and then that they don't want to get neg rep'd do you not? I've seen it... I look at neg rep as a learning experiance, like I tried to use my wit in the intelligent discussion, got a neg rep. Haven't done that since.

Besides, just because a few people are abusing it doesn't mean it should be lost to everyone. Banning those who are abusing it from doing it I would agree upon.

 

we NEED negative rep, it shouldn't go just one way. tho i have a suggestion: "change the message for when you negative rep someone." it says "thanks for giving them reputation, hopefully you'll get the same rep in return"

 

Actually, shadowjak, I was looking at common sense not value.

It's just rep. I mean it doesn't determine who you are on the forum. =/ If you're afraid to post something because you'll get neg'd (on the chance that it's in intelligent discussions, for example), then why ever bother posting if people have lately been getting neg'd for nothing at all?

It doesn't make sense. I constantly post my opinion and I never get negged. Maybe that's because I'm admin but still.

And yeah, evilman. xD I probably should.
