    I don't know if this is possible, but if it is, can it be brutally murdered? It's not a big deal at all, but I'd like to be able to do this;

    ': D' (without a space)

    without this

    ':D'

    Disabling smileys in your own post works fine, but as soon as someone quotes it it's back. I find the majority of them creepy, anyways. (With the exception of the custom ones), and if the feature was removed, those who wanted to use :) instead of : ) could put use to the drop down menu.

    Ehhh. Like I said, not a big deal, but still. <:

    Edit; Either that, or changing the basic smile 'shortcuts' to something less generic. like. /: D INSTEAD OF : D

    Yeah, I have to say it gets pretty annoying when all of them just change into emotes. >_>

    Though, I do understand the bypasses, or even just using alternatives like c: or :c.
    But a shortcut for smilies sounds good to me. o:

    I mean, we have one for B| to make :B|:
    It will let the people that still want to use them a chance to.

    Well it is more work than people want to do (although post templates help) but you could use the [noparse][noparse] [/noparse][/noparse] tags to do it. Someone quote this to make sure

    [noparse];)[/noparse]

    That being said it might still be a good idea for the sake of lazyness

    +1 support.

    Failing that, could we get it added as an option below the 'show your signature' option in Quick Reply? I find myself going into Advanced Reply often, simply to access that feature.

    Admittedly, those NoParse tags are godly. I didn't know about them. So much love for Mixt right now. All of the love. All of it.

    Oh? Thanks for that. I didn't know you could noparse it. I'll probably do that now.

    Even so...For the sake of other's or future lazyness, it'd be cool is the basic smiley's shortcuts were changed. xD;

    Regulating smiley shortcuts could be good. I know some of them require colons to be wrapped around them, such as :=D:. That's a fairly good solution, IMO. Just so long as it's kept constant across the board, preferably.

    Oh god yes. Please, murder the feature brutally and throw the remains in a fiery pit. Not like I actually posted much in the first place, but it gets annoying in my VMs. Plus one supporter. *Salutes*

    And mixt. Never forget these next words:

    We love you. SO MUCH.

    I'm going to bump this for a decision, too.

    I like the changing the shortcuts idea if not the getting rid of them all together.

    Thanks to Mixt, I've been using the 'noparse' solution, but it's still tedious...and annoying when newer members don't know how to do that.

    I still think the best option would be to add the toggle to the quick reply, just below 'Show your signature'. At the most, switch it to be opt-in, instead of opt-out.

    Also, someone, please go through and make all the current ones fit the same basic template, so I don't need to go into the sheet to find the codes.

    I changed out the text-replacement for the major ones, shouldn't be a problem anymore.

    Hi, unlocked (sorry if I should have just made a new thread) because I was wondering if this could happen again? Looool. Sorry. It changed with Xenforo.

    I'm not sure if this would help, but would the "Hide Smilies" option under preferences work? Or maybe perhaps a "noparse" bbcode could be added again. Of course if the editor gets a make-over within the next few installments of Xenforo, they might add an option to disable smilies within your post, similar to a "noparse" bbcode.

    Hmm, anyway, hope this helped.

    You can disable the display of smilies for yourself there. Of course, that doesn't disable it for the people who look at your posts. For that, you can just wrap plain tags around it (essentially the XenForo equivalent of noparse):

    ;)
    Code:
    [plain];)[/plain]
    I can update the FAQ with this info.
