Just a story I started writing a while back. Let me know what you think, please.

Riku’s eyes snapped open like a camera shutter, his eyes darting from left to right, wondering where he was. He was in fact, in what appeared to be a hotel room, a small comfortable beige room with flower prints lined on the walls. A small wooden door sat on the wall across from him and sunlight seeped through the pale curtains. He sat up, and as soon as he did a searing pain shot through his chest. He groaned and clutched his mid section. That’s when he realized his entire upper body was wrapped in bandages, and a fresh spot of blood was blossoming forth from his stomach.
“What…†He looked around. His vision began to blur and then snapped back into focus, he became dizzy. “What happened? Where am I?†He asked out loud.
Just then the door opened, ad Sora and Kairi appeared in the door way. They were both dressed in a strange black cloak that Riku some how knew he should find familiar, but didn’t.
“Riku!†Kairi yelled. “You’re awake!†She dashed to his side as Sora followed.
“Yeah, we were scared you’d sleep forever.â€
Riku winced in pain. “Sora? Kairi? What happened? Where are we?â€
Kairi frowned. “You… you don’t remember?†She looked at Sora. “He actually…â€
Riku looked at her blankly. “Remember what?†He asked.
Sora noticed the blood that was beginning to stain the sheets. “We better change those bandages. Kairi, go get a potion, please?â€
Kairi nodded and left the room. Sora reached over and pushed his friend back down onto the bed.
“Sora…†Riku said looking up as Sora began to unwind his bandages. “What happened?â€
    Sora didn’t answer.
Riku reached up and grabbed Sora’s shoulder. “What happened?†Riku asked more forcefully.
    Sora looked down at him. “I… I can’t say.â€
    “What? Why?â€
“I promised…†Sora’s hand began to shake.
“Sora, what are you talking about?â€
Just then Kairi re-entered the room with a potion and a wet rag. “Riku… you really don’t remember?â€
“Remember what? Can’t you guys just tell me?â€
Kairi looked at the floor. “So he did....â€
    “Did what?â€
Riku sat up causing more pain to shoot through his stomach. Sora pushed him back down.
“You’ll open the wound more than it already is, stay still will ya?â€
“I didn’t think he’d actually…†Kairi said pushing her head into her hands.
“It’s better this way, Kairi.†Sora said. “The King knows what he’s doing.â€
“What are you guys talking about?†Riku asked. Kairi began to cry; she buried her face into her hands and wept. “It’s all my fault…†She whispered. Sora pulled her into a hug, allowing Riku to get a good look at his wounds. He had six gaping holes in his chest, three at his shoulder level right above his heart in a straight line as if there had been something pinning him to something, and one large hole in this stomach with two smaller holes above it. He winced.
He reached down and laid a hand in the warm blood. “Sora, tell me what’s going on!â€
    “I can’t!â€
    “Why not!â€
    “I promised!â€
    “Promised who?â€
Kairi reached out and put a finger to Riku’s lips. “It’s ok, you’re safe now. It doesn’t matter.â€
“It does matter! How can you even say that?â€
Sora smiled and pulled the small whirling star from the potion bottle. It began to buzz in a circle in his hand and he slowly applied it to Riku’s bleeding wound. Riku sighed and relished in the relief it brought him
    “Please… at least tell me why I can’t remember.â€
    “The king… erased your memory.â€
“What?†Riku was shocked. “Why?†Then he though a moment about what Sora had said. “King, what king? Some one please, tell me what’s going on!â€
“Trust me, Riku, you don’t want to remember.â€
Riku slammed a fist into the wall. “Some one owes me an explanation, dammit!†Then suddenly something hit him in the forehead, it looked strangely like a beam of light, and Riku then fell backwards unconscious.
Sora whirled around to see the king, with his Keyblade drawn and pointed straight a head. There was a serious look on his face. “Sora… it’s really best, that he doesn’t remember.â€
“I know.†Sora said looking down. “But… still.†He looked over at his unconscious friend. “I think he deserves to know.â€
“Yes, he does. But he can’t know. Any information may trigger a recall. We can’t risk that.â€
    “Yeah, I know.â€
Kairi laid the damp rag over Riku’s forehead. “I feel sorry for him.†She said wiping his hair out of his face. Sora nodded.
“Help me finish changing his bandages… please.â€
Kairi nodded and stood up and left the room. Leon, Yuffie, Aerith and Cid all sat around a table in the ‘living room’ of the hotel room. Yuffie looked up. “How is he?â€
    Kairi shook her head.
Donald and Goofy looked up from the couch where they sat. “Does he need to be cured again?†Donald asked. Kairi nodded and reached into an open cabinet to pull out a bunch of bandages. Leon stood up and placed a hand on her shoulder. “It really is better, that he doesn’t remember.†He assured her.
Kairi nodded, not trusting her self to speak. With that, she retreated into the dark room where Riku lay.
“I think…†Kairi said from the door way. “It’s wrong to keep it from him. It’s not right.â€
    -------------
When Riku woke up next, sunlight was no longer seeping in through the window it was obviously dark out. He sat up and glanced around the now empty room. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and grimaced at the acute pain that accompanied the action. He looked around and slowly made his way to his feet, and even more slowly, made his way to the window. He threw the curtains back and found himself staring at a bustling city.
“Where…†There were no large cities on Destiny islands. He reached down and opened the window and leaned out. The hotel he was in was a tall one; he had to be at least forty feet up. He whistled and looked down at the busy streets.
He turned back around and scanned the room for clothes, although his old clothes were no where to be found, the same kind of black cloak that Sora and Kairi had been wearing was hanging from the door. He quickly slid it over his bandaged body and was surprised to find, it fit perfectly. He zipped it up and went back to the open window.
Then he glanced back at the door and swung a leg over the side of the window. His quest for answers began.

Kairi knocked on the door lightly. “Riku?†When she got no response she tried again. “Riku? Are you hungry? We have some food for y--†Kairi stopped mid sentence as she opened the door and found her self preaching to an empty room.

“Riku?†Her eyes landed on the window and here eyes grew wide with fear. She ran to the window and leaned out as far as she was able. “Riku! Riku, where are you?!†She pulled back in. “Tch…†She bit down on her pinky finger and squinted. “Idiot!†She ran back outside. “Sora!â€

    ----------------

Riku grimaced as some one roughly ran into him and pushed him down to the floor in order to pass by him. Riku reached up and touched his cloak where it was beginning to stick to his skin due to the blood of his wounds. Then he noticed that the cloak had six holes aligned with his wounds. He placed a hand on his chest as some blood began to leak out of the holes.

“I see… I must have been wearing this when I got hurt.†He said standing up and wiping the blood off carefully. He grabbed a passing person. “Excuse me, can you please tell me where I am?â€

    The person smiled. “5th avenue.â€

    “5th avenue? It’s a strange place.†He muttered.

“Are you ok? Oh my gosh! You’re bleeding! Hang on, I’ll call the police.â€

Riku smiled. “That’s nice of you ma’am, but there’s no need, I’m fine.â€

    “You’re… you’re bleeding!â€

    “No, I’m fine.â€

    “But…â€

“I’m fine.†And then he left, after a while of meaningless wondering, he found the ocean. It was a different ocean than he knew; it was cold, dark and murky, although that might’ve just been the fact that it was night out. There was no beach either, just a cement pier that made a sudden drop into the water. Riku was sitting on that pier holding his bloody chest, with more blood squeezing its way through his fingers. A few times he swore he could see a figure of a shark beneath the murky surface, and was well aware of the small stream of his blood running from his chest and leaking precariously from his toe into the ocean.

    “There you are.â€

He turned around to see Kairi and Sora standing behind him. He turned around and stared out into the ocean, not saying anything.

Kairi was first to sit down next to him and Sora sat down next to her.

    “Are you mad?†Kairi asked.

Riku didn’t answer. Kairi reached over and pulled Riku’s hand away from his chest and reached into her pocket to pull out a second potion. She applied it to Riku’s wounds. As soon as she did, the bleeding stopped and most of the pain went away. This was followed by a long moment of silence, before Kairi asked again.
    “Are you mad?â€

Riku still didn’t answer at first. Instead he looked up at her and took a strand of her hair in his bloodied fingers. “Your hair is longer.â€

    She smiled. “So is yours.â€

Riku reached back and ran a hand through his elongated hair and sighed. “How much of my memory… is gone?â€

    “About a year, maybe two?â€

“Two years? Two years of my life, gone.†Riku said looking out to the sea.

“Well they weren’t exactly good years.†Sora said. “From what I can tell, they were the worst years of your life.â€

    “Did I ask you to?â€

    “Ask me to what?â€

    “Erase my memory.â€

Sora looked down at the water, which splashed up to lick the bottoms of his shoes. “You were unconscious when the king did it. But we did it to save you, Riku. Come on, man.†He said looking up at him. “You gotta trust us.â€

    “I do trust you, I mean, why wouldn’t I? I just… want to know what happened.â€
Kairi wrapped an arm around his shoulder and hugged him. “I know, and I wish I could tell you, but I don’t want to lose you.â€
    “Lose me?â€

    “Yes.â€

“What do you mean by that?â€

Sora stood up casually. “Let’s go back.†He said turning to walk away.

Riku watched him begin to leave. “What’s wrong with you? You’ve been acting weird.â€

Sora stopped in his tracks as Riku stood up. “It’s my fault you got hurt.†He said shaking. “It’s my fault you…†His voice was wavering. “I should’ve known better than to leave! I should’ve stayed! If I had--â€

SMACK! Riku’s hand struck Sora across the face brutally. Kairi gasped.

    “Shut up.†Riku commanded.

    “But…â€

“No. I don’t want to hear it. It’s not your fault.â€

Sora looked up at him. “But it was!â€

“Did you take a knife and stab me six times?!†Riku yelled. Sora was taken aback.

    “No…â€

“Then it’s not your fault! So shut up and be Sora again, ok?â€

Sora smirked and punched Riku in the arm. “Wassat supposed to mean? I’m always Sora!â€

Kairi laughed at her friends antics, and then for a moment, they were all back on Destiny Islands, laughing and playing, innocent of the horrible events that plagued them. Then reality hit full force when Kairi was engulfed in a tomb of water.
    Riku turned around horrified. “Kairi!â€

Sora brought out his Keyblade and desperately slashed at Kairi’s water prison, but to no avail. Kairi sank to her knees clutching her throat, trying desperately to breath.
    “Damn, missed.â€

Both boys turned around to see a man in a black coat holding a large blue sitar, standing behind them.

“You!†Sora yelled. “Let Kairi go! Now!â€

“Fine.†The man strummed a few chords on the sitar and the water cell in which Kairi was trapped broke. It spilled on the floor and slowly began to realign it self around all three kids. While Sora was busy tending to Kairi, Riku noticed the slow formation of water. He glared up at the man in the black coat. “Damn you! Leave us alone!â€
“Riku! No!†Sora yelled as Riku charged the man. Suddenly a wall of water shot up behind Riku, cutting him off from Sora and Kairi. He stopped running and curled his hands into fists. “What do you want?â€

“For you to remember. I’m on your side, Riku.†The man said.

“He’s lying!†Sora yelled through the water. “Don’t listen to him! Please, Riku! Trust me!â€

“Shut up!†The wall of water closed in on Sora and Kairi trapping them inside,
    smothering them.

    “Sora! Kairi!â€

“They hurt you, Riku. Come on, remember what happened?â€

“Shut up!†Riku yelled turning on the man. “Let them go! Now!â€

“I will, but you’ve got to remember what happened first.â€

Riku clenched his fists. “I can’t! My memory is gone!â€

“It’s not gone.†The man said. “Come with me, and I’ll help you remember.†A dark portal opened behind him.

“No… I…†Riku’s hands shook and his wounds threatened to split open. “I won’t…â€

“Come with me, Riku. I can help you. I’m on your side.†The man said.

“If that were true you’d let them go!â€

    âe to remember!â€

    “I can’t!â€

    “Remember what happened!â€

Sora was shaking his head fervently. Kairi had passed out. Riku began to cry, “I’m trying!â€

“Try harder! It’s there, the memory! It’s so close, Riku! You’ve got to remember!â€
“I can’t! I’m trying!†Riku suddenly felt a splitting headache over take him and he buried his head into his hands.

“Come on, Riku. Come with me, I’ll help you remember.â€

    “I can’t… I can’t… I can’t…†Riku whispered to him self, clutching his head. “It hurts!â€

Then suddenly everything went totally black.

"No! I won’t give up on him!"

    “Huh…?
